Easter is a-coming: Gift Ideas to Inspire at Where Did You Get That?, PLUS 10% off store-wide

Have you noticed what I’ve been noticing when you go to the supermarket?  Yep, it’s that time of year again – Easter is on its way and chocolate is everywhere!

Now, I’m never one to complain about chocolate being everywhere (oh my, isn’t that my fondest dream!), but Easter gifts can take all sorts of shapes and forms, and chocolate is only one of them. Keep in mind also that too much chocolate for the kids isn’t necessarily a good idea.

So here are some ideas from the inspirational Where Did You Get That? – www.wheredidyougetthat.com.au – which are so awesome that they’ll distract you from the chocolate cravings for a while, and I know that’s saying a lot!

First of all, how about a Radio Flyer wagon?  The kids will work off all their sugar-hit energy giving each other rides up and down the driveway, and the wagon can haul all their other Easter loot around.  Radio Flyer wagons are so sturdy that you’ll get years – possibly even decades! – of use out of it.

Radio Flyer also have really great scooters for little ones, and they come in a choice of racy red or pretty pink. This is another good way to help the kids burn off some of that sugar hit.

Toni and Melony at WDYGT? have stocked up on the totally adorable Deglingos ‘Lapinos’ bunnies as well.  Absolutely perfect for a lasting, adorable, whimsical Easter gift, these little guys just make me want to pick them up and cuddle them.  Actually, the same goes for the whole Degingos range, I love it!

With Easter comes school holidays, which in turn means a lot of time during which parents must entertain the kids.  And has anyone else noticed that the Easter holidays usually involve at least a few days of rain?  Rain – in moderation – is wonderful, but it does mean finding inside activities for the kids.  I recommend Djeco craft kits which are hours of fun.

The Animal Mosaics are especially great: kids will love putting together the four mosaics inside each box, and will be proud as punch of the finished designs!  Plus Toni & Melony managed to get a great price on a bulk order of Djeco Mosaics which means the savings are being passed on to us.

Now because they love us, Toni & Melony are giving KidStyleFile readers 10% off store-wide*!  Yep, that includes sale prices which means that summer clothing is down to around 50% off for Tea Collection, Tommy Rocket and Two Belles! Just enter ‘KSF-Easter’ at checkout. This offer is valid until 5 April 2009. *Excludes Gift Vouchers.

Don’t forget that you can take an extra 10% off the prices below until April 5, 2009. Simply enter ‘KSF-Easter’ at checkout to redeem.

Paper Wings Takes Flight: Autumn/Winter 09 Now Available, plus New Organic Range Revealed

Posted: March 24th, 2009

Australian label Paper Wings – www.paperwings.com.au – spread it’s wings and headed to ENK Children’s Club trade-show in New York recently, where I caught up with Michelle Fallon, one half of the design duo behind the label (other half in life and in business, Jason Gibaud held down the fort at the family home in Mullumbimby, NSW).

Michelle was presenting the Paper Wings Fall/Winter ’09 collection for girls to the adoring American industry. Once again the Paper Wings collection is extraordinarily impressive.

Signature bustles, ruffles, and stripes feature in jersey knit cottons, along with a new line of woollen knits. Folk-art themes emerge through owls and and heart motifs that echo silhouette and paper cutting arts. The palette is a gorgeous selection of true reds and denim blues with soft pink and great marle.

The cuts or the garments hark back to the finely tailored silhouettes of centuries past, while the stripes and designs imbue a contemporary edge. The detailing is stunning, and uniquely creative, with incredible attention to detail in buttons, stitches, embellishments and finishing.

Paper Wings clothing is robust and looks beautiful in motion on a happy, playful child. I am a huge fan, and my girls wear Paper Wings both at parties, and in the playground: it is a true delight to behold.

With this season’s collection, Paper Wings has also introduced Certified Organic fabrics into their range; chemical-free, and lusciously soft to the touch.

You can view the entire current season’s collection on the Paper Wings website, which is worth taking a look at for it’s artistic beauty alone: surely one of the most beautiful fashion sites on the web!

To buy Paper Wings 09 Collection please visit Appleseed Child – www.appleseedchild.com.au and Tiny People – www.tinypeople.com.au.

In hot-off-the-press news, I was also lucky enough to see a sneak preview of Paper Wings’ latest development: a wonderful new range of 100% Organic cotton Loungewear, comprised of sleepwear, and underwear.

The cuts echo the Paper Wings day-wear ranges, with striped nighties based on their Tank Dresses delivering a ‘Euro’ feel, and playful kittens inspired by 1930′s prints.

The Paper Wings Organic Loungewear Collection will be available to purchase in Australia from July 2009, and you will be very impressed by the price point. Stay tuned!

If you’re looking for a way to jazz up your kid’s bedroom, then you can do no better than to go straight to Miss Tati & Friends – www.misstatiandfriends.com – to check out their amazing ranges of furniture, decor and bedding.

I’ve never seen anything like the Miss Tati & Friends ranges; they’re just spectacular!  I’m having a hard time choosing which I like best, but since I’m looking to upgrade my 1.5 year old boy’s nursery to a ‘big boy’s room’ I’m going to focus on what I really want for him – the ‘Surf’s Up’ range.

Please don’t think Surf’s Up is just for boys though, ohhhhh no no no.  If pink frills aren’t right for your little dudette, how could you resist giving her a special surfie room of her own?

With the colour and vibrancy of the detailed designs, these pieces will go right from nursery (there’s even a cot/toddler bed and a change tray as part of the range!) to the coolest teenager’s room on the street.

The range isn’t just eye-poppingly fab to look it, it’s also really well thought out with a choice of pieces to fit into every kid’s room. The totally awesome longboard bed, the ‘beach shack’ bookcase, two styles and three sizes of chests of drawers, bedside table, toy box and, as mentioned, the cot/toddler bed and change tray make it easy for you to decide what will work best in your kid’s room.

Just to make your life even easier, there’s a great range of hand-painted artwork to tie in with the furniture – you can pick from Beware Sharks, Monster Waves, Wipeout, Surfer Girl and Beach Baby, to name but a few.

Now here’s the best bit: Kaddie at Miss Tati & Friends had such a fantastic response to her last offer to KSF readers that she’s decided to give us another bit of the cherry. This time she’s giving us 20% off the entire Surf’s Up range of furniture and artwork! YayayayayaYAY!!

Enter ‘stylefile’ at checkout until 30 March 2009. It’s only a week, so get cracking!

PS You can even use the code on the surfie-hip Ju Ju Be Tiki Toffee Nappy Bag, and the adorable Blue HawaiiWild Hibiscus Bib. Now, let’s hit those waves!

You can see the entire Surf’s Up collection of furniture here, and the Surf’s Up artwork here. Have fun and don’t forget to enter ‘stylefile’ at checkout!

Miss Tati & Friends also stock a great range of other themed ranges of furniture and decor, including Oriental Princess, Captain Cutthroat, Provence, Lil’ Buccaneer and Miss Lily.

Miss Tati & Friends ship Australia wide. Shipping is calculated at checkout. Read the Miss Tati & Friends shipping information page here.

Tin Terrific: Schylling Toys

When Angela was in New York recently, she bought some toys home for those lucky daughters of hers.  Not just any toys though; Schylling – www.schylling.com- tin toys.

An American brand, Schylling both create the future with innovative new toys and – this is my favourite – revive the best bits of the past with retro tin toys.  And their tin toys are just the best! Beautiful quality with lovely detailing and timeless charm, these pieces will be adored by this generation and kept for the next one without a doubt.

If you’re in the US, you’re in luck: you can shop direct from the Schylling website.

Send A Toy and Cradle Rock both stock a small selection of Schylling toys in Australia (search for ‘tin toys’ and ‘jack in the box’ to locate products on the Send A Toy site).  It’s always worth asking a reputable store – these two are both brilliant – if they can order a specific item in for you.

Please check individual stores for postage and delifvery information
