You are going to LOVE what’s instore at Buckets & Spades – www.bucketsandspades.com.au – right now!

We know that you have been hanging our for the new season’s Fred Bare and Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, so you’re going to be particularly excited when I show you how much of it Zlata has in store for winter. This is hot property, people!

FB and EMMM Winter fashion is always fab, and this year is no exception.  I’m loving the chunky knits for boys, particularly the charcoal which is very much in evidence this year.  It suits everyone!  Girls are spoilt rotten with pretty retro florals – think the kind of fabric you used to see in your grandma’s sewing drawer. Plus worn-in denim is in for everyone!

Buckets & Spades have a great range of jackets for boys and girls; I think the ‘back to the future’ feel of the Fred Bare boys’ hoodies in particular is gorgeous, and I’m drooling over the military/majorette-style jackets for girls, particularly those by Guess and the double breasted coats by Fred Bare; crisp, tailored and a little bit cheeky, they’re just right!

If you become a VIP customer at Buckets & Spades, you will also receive 10% off all full-priced purchases. Just select ‘VIP’ from the menu and follow the instructions.

Now, without further ado, Autumn/Winter 2009 Fred Bare, and Eeni Meeni Miini Moh – woo!!!

Inspiring Creativity: Kits and Accessories for Your Little Artist

………………………………………………………………………………………………

I have been thinking a lot about human creativity lately, most especially artistic expression. It seems that no human civilisation across the ages has been immune from the deep innate drive in all of us to use our hands to create something that pleases us, and maybe others.

There are many studies in early childhood education that encourage providing children with time and space to play, imagine, and create. In fact, encouraging creative play with children is a wonderful way for them to develop fine motor skills and build connections within the brain.

Buying new arts and crafts supplies is a bit of a joy for me, so it’s with great pleasure that I present to you some great products to get the creative juices flowing.

Where Did You Get That? gets the thumbs up for their fantastic selection of craft products, books, and kits for both boys and girls. They also have a wonderful range of Djeco art boxes that include instructions and kits that engage and inspire creativity. Djeco is a Paris based company that create and develop wonderful games, toys and art sets that are wonderfully artistic and high quality. The Watercolour Workshop is heading straight into my cart.

Generation Wonder also has the really cool ‘I Used to be a Car Tyre’ Notebook and Pencil Case, which are not only practical (the notebook has blank pages – perfect for doodling), they are a great talking point, and you are saving tyres from ending up in landfill!

Mooo also have some very cute personalised pencil cases with great designs and colours that are perfect for your own use, or as gifts.

And why not use your children’s creativity for good and grab yourself a Doggie Diary Handy Notecard Kit from Monkeytail and Wellington? You will never need to find a last minute card again!

1. Colours Book from The Hip Infant $14.95
2. Prima Ballerina DIY Kit from Shophouse $16.95
3. Drawing Patterns – Fashion Workshop Book from Where did you get that? $48.40
4. Around the World Alphabet Cards from Happy Little Hippos $49.95
5. Watercolour Workshop – includes paint palette from Where did you get that? $39.60
6. Robot Mosaics from Where did you get that? $26.95
7. Personalised Pencil Case from Mooo $24.95
8. Doggie Diary Handy Notecard Kit from Monkeytail and Wellington $34.95
9. Pencil Holders from Pastel Pink $6.50 $3.25
10. I used to be a Car Tyre Notebook from Generation Wonder $10.95

It’s the time of year when nights are getting cooler and crisper.  Autumn is actually my favourite time of year for that reason – isn’t it a gorgeous feeling to get all snuggled up in new winter PJs and have a hot chocolate before heading to bed?

I’m sure kids love new PJs just as much as the rest of us do, so why not get them a new pair or two this winter?  ShopHouse – www.shophouse.com.au – have a wonderful range for babies and toddlers from Oobi and PureBaby.

I love the new season Oobi lounge suits and rompers in the new owl print! It’s adorably retro, along with the wide cuffs and waistband, and it’s suitable for both boys and girls with the choice of blue or pink.  And then there’s the red giraffe print – too cute!

I also adore PureBaby with their buttery-soft organic cotton, and innocent designs.  You’ll never see anything too busy on a PureBaby piece; they’re understated to perfection, and showcase your little munchkin’s own cuteness.  They also look incredibly comfy – wish they made adult sized PJs!

Bronwyn from ShopHouse is driving the winter PJ train with a super comp between 14 April and 18 April 2009: purchase a pair of pyjamas from the PureBaby range, or a romper or lounge suit from Oobi, you’ll go into the draw to win one of three $50 ShopHouse vouchers.

And while you’re having trouble deciding which of the gorgeous pyjamas you’re going to get for your kids, have a browse around the rest of ShopHouse – among loads of other divine goodies, the full ranges of Oobi Winter ’09 and OshKosh are there, and ripe for the taking! Postage is only $4.95 for e-Parcel trackable delivery, Australia-wide, and if you spend over $99.00 you get it free as a bird. Talk soon, gotta fly over to The House!

Babymel X2: Twice the Baby, Twice the Bag!

Posted: April 14th, 2009

Today’s post written by Angela

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Being a twin-mama I am always on the look out for clever products that cater for a life with more than one child. The right product can make the difference between calm organisation, and frustrating chaos.

With twins I often feel that a team of sherpas is the only solution to our gear challenges (and no doubt parents who move from one to two, or more, kids, feel the same way), but I am happy to say that I have found something that I have found the perfect DIY arrangement.

It’s the Babymel x2 bag, which is actually *two* bags which can be clipped together, or separated, as needed.

My kids may not be babies anymore, but the X2 really spoke to me. I often get indecisive about bag colour choices, but the X2 lets me have the best of both worlds: you can choose black/black or black/red. With an international trip imminent, and a new bag needed (and organisation being the key to happy travel), I was keen to give it a go, and so snapped one up (in black/red – yay!)

The X2 bags are a nice size at 26cm high,  44cm wide and 12cm deep. The exterior fabric is a soft thick matt synthetic, which holds up well under use in both the functionality and looks stakes. It is also fully wipeable in the event that you need to clean it.

It features two magnetic closure pockets on the outside face of one of the sides, and an insulated pocket at one end. Inside it features one large velcro closure pocket along one side, and two elasticised pockets on the other. The inner lining is camel coloured which makes it easy to see what you are doing.

The bags come with two of everything you need: shoulder straps with their unique innovative stroller attachments, and two change mats (which I’m thinking would also be a good surface to sit on in the event of wet grass).

The genius of these bags is the way they clip, and unclip, together easily. This is great when parents need to head off in two directions, or on days when you are taking more or less gear. For me, I use one bag for my gear, and one for the kids: no more rummaging around!!

I also really love the clips that attach the shoulder strap to the bag; they are super-easy to operate, and I find them very useful to attach shopping bags to when I need to be fully hands-free.

Although the price for the Babymel X2 is budget at $149.00 for the set of two bags, the quality has not been skimped on – Babymel is the diffusion line from Storksak after all!! Buy with confidence!

You can purchase the Babymel X2 bag direct from the Babymel website (they charge $15.00 flat for courier delivery, Australia-wide). Check here for Australian/New Zealand stockists, here for US stockists, and here for UK/Europe stockists.
