Posted: August 21st, 2009

Today’s post written by Cassi from The Crafty Crow

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Hello there! All the craft projects I’m sharing today come from your recycling bin, enjoy!

You can make a cute little grass caterpillar like this one at Lottie Lulu! Try sprouting some catnip for kitty as a special treat.

You’ll be surprised how quickly your plastic lid collection will grow once you start saving them and just think of the wonderful mosaics you’ll be able to make. Check this one out at Evstra’s Flickr Photostream.

Kids will love making stickers from junk mail envelopes and you’ll love making use of all that junkmail. Get the how-to details at Junk Mail Gems!

Art Lessons For Kids shares how to make some great collages using miscellaneous cardboard.

I love this little boat made from a juice box! Inchmark has the instructions.

Plastic bags to pompoms! Find out how it’s done at Craftastica.

Plum Pudding makes cereal box cardboard into bookmarks!

Shredded newspaper is great to use as pretend play food, seen here at More Mom Time. It’s also an interesting texture to add to collages or use it for hair on paper bag puppets!

Don’t you just love the sound of a rainmaker? Color Color Color shows you how to make one from an empty paper towel tube.

You’ll find many more ideas like these at The Crafty Crow, I hope you’ll come by and say hello! If you have a project that you would like to submit then send it my way – details are in the right column on The Crafty Crow.

Mimo & Co Argentina – Understated Style from Buenos Aires

Posted: August 19th, 2009

Today’s post written by Edwina

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Today I want to share with you Mimo & Co – www.mimo.com.ar, an Argentinean childrens wear label. Based in Buenos Aries, they are our Southern Hemisphere cousins who share the same seasons – a perfect stop-off for a little internet inspiration.

I really love their subdued use of colour and texture and their classic styling. The girls clothes use a lot of pink and purple (which are the usual crowd favourites amongst the little girl set), but they are dusty pinks, and smooth lavenders which are so pleasing to the eye.

I adore their boys clothes, which are very cool without being too trendy. There is not a camo-print, skull, or skateboard motif in sight, instead lots of classic black, greys, yellow and red. It feels very European but with a twist, lots of traditional cuts and colours but still manages to keep a modern feel.

There are also some adorable baby clothes in purple, red and grey and the most gorgeous baby shoes!! So if you find yourself in South America anytime soon, keep an eye out for Mimo stores they have shops in Brasil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and more, even Russia and Israel. Click here for a list of bricks and mortar stores.

Unfortunately Mimo and Co is not available in Australia at the moment, but it’s still a lovely place for a little day dreaming or styling inspiration.
