Today’s post written by Miki

Over the last couple of days I’ve shown you my favourite of the ‘big ticket’ items on display at the Harrogate Nursery Fair – prams/strollers and highchairs.  Today, to wrap up my Harrogate coverage, I want to show you my picks for other items which really impressed me. Dig in!

babycotpod Metro Crib

The images just don’t do the Metro Crib by babycotpod justice. It may look great in the pics above, but in real life it’s an absolute show stopper and literally did stop me dead in my tracks when I first saw it. The jewel colours simply glow, the shape is both modern and evocative, and its gentle rocking motion is sure to get any baby off to sleep easily.

The Metro Crib will to be available soon through the babycotpod website, and a whole range of complementary nursery furniture will be along shortly too, including a wardrobe, drawers, bookshelf and tallboy.  Shipping to Australia isn’t known at this point, but we’ll keep you informed.

John Crane City Of London Railway

Leading UK toy distributor John Crane (they’re responsible for PINTOY, George Luck, TOLO and GoGo Toys, among others) has recently branched out with its own brand of wooden toys, appropriately named Branching Out.

The City Of London Railway Set, pictured above, is one of the showpieces of this new collection, and it’s a stunner.  Featuring all the best known landmarks and icons, including the London Eye, Big Ben, Harrods, the Buckingham Palace Guards and more, it will enchant any child – and any parent who spent part of a wild youth in London!

It’ll be available soon through the John Crane website and leading UK toy stores – we’ll let you know when and if it comes down under.

FunToSee Gruffalo Room Makeover Kit

FunToSee’s room makeover kits are an extraordinarily effective way to completely transform a child’s room on a very minimal budget.

The Gruffalo Room Makeover Kit, partially pictured above, features 50 huge, moveable and re-stickable wall stickers including all the favourite characters such as Snake, Fox, Owl, the Mouse and of course the Gruffalo himself.  The kit retails in the UK for £40.00, making it incredibly cost effective.

FunToSee also make a number of other Room Makeover Kits, including a broad range of colourful non-licensed stickers such as rainforest animals, flowers and so on.  Shipping a Room Makeover Kit to Australia currently costs £47.88, bringing the total cost to approx. AUD$144.00 for Australian customers.  A selection of non-licensed FunToSee Room Makeover kits are also available within Australia from oo.com.au for AUD$99.95ea.

OXO Tot

Famous kitchen brand OXO are moving into the nursery products world with their new OXO Tot range.  Coming later this year, the collection will include eating and drinking utensils for kids (all BPA, phthalate and PVC free), which are designed to be user friendly for both the child and the parents.  A range of cleaning products is also coming, including bottle brushes, bottle drying racks and dishwasher baskets for the array of baby bits and pieces that fly around in there.

The product on the right, above, is a bath scoop which not only collects and stores bath toys but can also be used to rinse the child’s hair.  There’s also a highchair, the OXO Sprout, which has an excellent array of features.  You can be sure we’ll be featuring that one in more detail closer to its release.  We’ll let you know when OXO Tot hits the market.
