Here in Australia we are fortunate enough to live our lives in relative peace and comfort, but in other parts of the world girls and women suffer terrible treatment simply by dint of their gender.

Sydney photographer Leah Kua – www.leahkua.com – works with many families Australia-wide to capture their happy moments, their smiles, milestones and joy, and on hearing of the Watoto Living Hope program, determined to bring a smile to marginalised women in Africa too, and set up The Smile Project to do so.

In addition to donating 50% of her session fees to the program until the end of 2010, Leah is offering one lucky person, Australia-wide, the opportunity to win a $2,000 photography prize. All you have to do is make a donation of $2 or more to go into the draw, which closes on 5 June 2010. Find full information here.

    Such an amazing endeavour….

I know Leah personally and not only is she one of the most intensely compassionate people I know, she is also an especially gifted photographer. Hope lots of people enter. Why not?
