The Life InStyle trade-only event, incorporating Kids InStyle, the baby and kids component of the show, was held at the Flemington Racecourse Grandstand in Melbourne, Australia from 10– 13 August 2010.

I took the opportunity to interview a few of the outstanding exhibitors at the show, Enjoy!

Click here for more Kids InStyle Melbourne 2010 coverage.

I spoke with Paula from Lundby Australia about the 2010 release of the iconic Lundby Stockholm doll’s house. The architect designed Stockholm house is the most contemporary in the Lundby range and features an enviable number of modern conveniences – these dolls live better than I do!

For more information on Lundby dollhouses visit the Lundby website.

ZAMO launched at the show and presented a unique approach to seasonal collections: each one will be drawn from a different geographic location – this year Mongolia, China, next year Haight-Ashbury, USA.

For more information on ZAMO visit the ZAMO website .

MiniMe was brought to my attention by Australian designer Haidee Neale (of Miss Haidee) who raved about the quality of this footwear brand and the fact that parents and kids could have matching styles.

For more information on MiniMe Sydney visit the MiniMe Sydney website.

Miller & Harry designer Annabel Campbell is a former prima ballerina with the Australian ballet. Her grace and beauty presides through her collection, which features wool, cotton and soy fibre blends that feel amazing!

We couldn’t keeep our hands off the beautiful wooden toys at the Dandelion Kids stand. The Nic Kugelix marble run was a big favourite and quite addictive.

For more information on Nic Toys visit the Dandelion Kids website.

It was a delight to speak to the creators of the new Ubabub cot range, Daniel and Natasha Dumais and to hear the background on the development of their revolutionary cots which convert to junior beds. Ubabub have surely set a new standard with these design-led high quality pieces of nursery furniture, and have more in the pipeline. Stay tuned!

Where do you find happiness?  For me it’s in the little everyday things – my boys playing happily together and giving each other or me impromptu hugs; a cup of tea and half an hour to myself in the mornings; a particularly thoughtful gift or act from my husband; a long chat on the phone with my parents (they live overseas), and so on and so forth. But there’s one more important thing to add to my ‘happiness list’: receiving a parcel in the mail.

Oh yes, ladies and gents, I’m a regular online shopper and part of it is that it’s so much easier to shop around and browse online, especially with two little kids.  But the other big part of it is receiving that gorgeous parcel in the mail a day or two later and the excitement of opening it – I’ll bet you feel the same way!

Right now I’m thinking I would like to receive a parcel from Happy Little Hippos – www.happylittlehippos.com.au – where you’ll find up to *60% off* a big range of sale items, while stocks last, from some seriously hip brands – Freshbaked, Gaia Organic Cotton, Bluebird & Honey, Penny Scallan and much more.   There are some HUGE savings to be found, such as the adorable Freshbaked Bow Cardi and Woollen Sailor Skirt (#2&3 below) on sale at around half price. For boys I love the Freshbaked Aviator Jackets at #5, and the Gaia Organic Cotton velour tracksuit at #9&10 is stylish, snuggly and a bargain to boot – win!

Snap up some bargains and get *extra* happiness in the form of FREE postage, Australia-wide when you place an order of $50+ at Happy Little Hippos. Enter code ‘KSF0810‘ at checkout to redeem until 19 August 2010.

Hello, Copenhagen! Introducing Danish Brand Okker-Gokker

Posted: August 12th, 2010

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

My best friend visited Denmark for work recently and sweetly gifted my boys some very cool Scandinavian clothing by Okker-Gokker – www.okker-gokker.dk – as a souvenir of her travels. It’s a brand I hadn’t previously heard of, but I’m so glad I have now, because it’s a good ‘un – supersoft organic cotton, snuggly styles, hard wearing, and it all looks great.

Differing from the oft seen bold and bright prints of other Scandinavian brands, Okker-Gokker presents a subtle colour palette, with that irrepressible Scandinavian funkiness showing through in the details – knee patches, quirky pockets, hood toggles and the like. Girls, boys and babies are all catered for with sizing from birth up to 5 years, and the fabrics, while all organic cotton, range from soft jersey tees and onesies to funky denim, to cord and a very snuggly fleece.

If you like what you see you’ll be happy to know that Okker-Gokker are currently having a sale with up to 50% off a range of items, including some summer clearance pieces perfect for our upcoming warmer weather. Email Okker-Gokker for a shipping quote. Enjoy!

Note: Be aware that when navigating the Okker-Gokker site that Google Translate hasn’t translated the currency abbreviations very well. You’ll see anything from USD to EU to GPB written before the prices, which you can disregard: all prices are actually in Danish Krone, which converts to very reasonable prices in Australian dollars – convert prices here.

Below: Here is my own Master A (aged 3) wearing his Okker-Gokker hoodie.
