For this month’s book post we thought it would be fun to cover kids books by famous parents. It is a crowded and popular space with politicians, comedians, actors and singers taking up the pen.

Funny folks writing for kids include Steve Martin, Bill Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg and Ricky Gervais. Gervais’ Flanimals series is sure to disgust and delight with mashed up animal creatures  including Blugs, Glonks and Puddloflags. (Also keep an eye out for Flanimals – the Movie, an animation of the books being made by the Producer of Ice Age and The Simpsons movie…. Ricky Gervais is likely to have starring role.)

It’s rare to find a children’s book and television series which walks the fine line between appealing to kids and to their parents as well, but I think it’s safe to say that talented author and creator Lauren Child has done exactly that with ‘Charlie and Lola’.  Beloved world-wide by kids and parents alike, we first fell in love with kind, long-suffering Charlie and his hilarious if exhausting younger sister Lola back in 2001 (Child’s debut Charlie and Lola book won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal that year), and since then the characters have been developed throughout many books and a television series.
