With two boyish boys who long to be in the wild outdoors and a busy two year old, the sudden cold snaps across Australia in the past few weeks are forcing this summertime babe to get her head into reality: winter is coming!  With limited opportunity to be outside, this mumma is going to need to be one step ahead of our spirited clan to get through winter with my smiling happy face intact. I’m a little obsessed with Nordic fashion at the moment. I’m unsure if it’s because we are moving closer and closer to winter; whether it’s my Tasmanian roots channeling one of our most famous exports Princess Mary;  or whether its just that Northern European design is oh so good. Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland …. I just can’t get enough, so for today’s inspiration post I am proud to present a gorgeous label from Stockholm who were crowned ‘The Kids Fashion Designer of the year 2010′ by Swedish parenting magazine Mama.

Monamici – www.monamici.se was developed in 2005 by the Stockholm based sisters Helene Edsta and Karolin af Jochnick. The label is non-restrictive and playful, with each piece tailored to provide the perfect fit for your baby right up to tween. An ethically conscious company, Monamici is  proud to follow global codes of conduct with respect to environmental issues and human rights. Garments within the range are made predominantly from organic cotton, silk and linen. They breathe, providing an airy, light feel whenever worn. Subtle yet rich colour palettes and patterns allow each piece to be dressed up or down. I would just love to add a piece or two to my munchkins wardrobe.

Kids bedroom design is akin to kids fashion. In February, Kristy Withers, launched Incy Interiors – www.incyinteriors.com.au, Australia’s newest designer furniture website for children and babies.  When Kristy’s little boy Oscar was ready for a ‘big bed’ she went on the search for the perfect bed that would provide a wow factor to his bedroom. Her search took her worldwide, yet left her frustrated when she just couldn’t find the bed she had envisioned in her head as quickly as she hoped, leaving little Oscar in a cot longer than she expected.
