While in New York I took a research trip over to Brooklyn, where I was priviledged to meet designer Elaine Pedlar, who has recently launched her new enterprise Dumbelle – www.dumbelle.com. A veteran of the fashion industry – she graduated from the Parsons School of Design in 1987, and has worked for numerous fashion house – Elaine’s talent and flair is abundantly evident in her new pop up shop at 145 Front Street, DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Named for their home locale, DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Elaine’s ‘Dumbelle’s’ are actually pretty smart! Elaine’s creations are cut out dolls for modern urban girls. Consisting of three characters (for the time being!) named May, Sunny and Katie, these urban individuals come complete with wardrobes and accoutrements that little hands can colour, cut display and play with. This is lovely way to while away the afternoon with your daughter, or little girl you know, and I think they’d be a fab party activity.

Each Dumbelle comes as a quality flat card ready to colour and cut (or you can choose precoloured) from USD$15.00. Limited editition prints and cushions are also available (POA). Elaine will happily ship to where-ever you are in the world. Write to her here.
