It’s my favourite week of the school year: Book Week!  As a kid I adored dressing up as my favourite character, and as a teenager I loved getting to attend workshops and readings from some of the best Australian authors. As a parent I now get to enjoy it all over again by building up the enthusiasm in my household – we’re significantly upping the number of bedtime stories this week, and doing lots of talking about our favourite books and why we love them.

Also loving Book Week are the team at Metro Mum – www.metromum.com.au.  To get into the spirit, they’ve discounted the gorgeous Tidy Books bookshelf products by a whopping 20% (trust me, you very rarely see these discounted *anywhere* and certainly not by this much).  I’ve been coveting a Tidy Books bookshelf ever since I first saw them; I love the way children’s picture books are displayed forwards, making it easy for the kids to choose their favourites, and the shelves look great in nurseries and playrooms. Metro Mum also stocks a lovely range of books for children and babies, so you can buy your kids a bookshelf at a discount, and then use your savings to fill it with books!

When shopping at Metro Mum, I always have to have a look at their nappy bag selection – these girls just know how to choose nappy bags.  Whether it’s Il Tutto (have you seen the amazing Nico in red now available for pre-order?), Isoki, Allerhand, Mia Bossi, Storksak or one of the many other amazing brands of nappy bag on offer, there’s always something – okay, let’s be honest, many somethings - I simply can’t live without. This week’s must-have for me is the Catalina nappy bag by Koochu, which would somehow turn even jeans and a t-shirt into a stylishly pulled-together outfit, and even better is that all Koochu nappy bags are currently discounted by 10%. Dads don’t have to miss out either, as many of the Dadgear Messenger Bags have been marked down to $99 each – bargain!

Also at Metro Mum right now you can save 20% on a Puj Tub, save 15% on all breastfeeding products, and orders over $50 will net you a FREE Mother Minder Bracelet valued at $8.95. Plus the *new* storage solutions from Boon have arrived and they’re just as hip as you might have imagined. The design team at Boon have got to be geniuses, they just get it right every time.

For 48 hours only, take 15% off storewide (excluding furniture, sale items and gift vouchers). The code to use at checkout is KSF15, but it ends at 5pm AEST 24 August 2011 so be quick. You also have the opportunity to WIN a Pixifoto package worth $995 or a Dadgear Messenger Bag valued at $145. See here for details on how to enter.

Metro Mum Bonanza: 20% Off Tidy Books & Puj, 15% Off Breastfeeding Products, 10% Off Koochu + 15% Off Nearly All Other Full Priced Products! The 15% discount is available with code KSF15, and expires 24 August 2011 at 5pm. All other offers end 31 August 2011. All offers while stocks last only.

I don’t think I am the only one itching for Spring to come? I am certainly feeling a little spring in my step at the thought that the days are lengthening and warming up just a little. Spring is such a perfect season, not too hot, not too cold and full of fragrant blossoms.

It is the perfect time to grab the kids and head to the garden. Here are some very easy projects to inspire your little one to get their hands dirty, and crafty, at the same time. You could make your own garden gnome, or even attract some fairies to the bottom of your garden with this fairy garden. So, happy gardening and hello spring-time!

As spring approaches, the weekends at my house become a hive of activity. There are no less than 5 extended family birthday parties in quick succession to attend, new season wardrobes to gather together and Christmas shopping (yes…it’s on the horizon people!) to start thinking about. As a working mum I need to be organised, so it’s the last few weeks of winter where my online shopping goes up a gear as I hunt for bargains to have ready to go when needed.

Shop For Tots - www.shopfortots.com.au – is the perfect place to start! Launched  in April, Kate and Steve (inspired by their gorgeous 3 year old twins, Orlando and Sofia, I’m certain), have collated an enormous selection of the finest toys, baby goods and clothing lines for you to choose from. I’m convinced that there is something in store for every single child, making Shop For Tots the perfect shopping destination for every need.

If it’s a party you are busy preparing for, ensure you take a few minutes to peruse the party section for some delightful options for your table, preparations and party bags. I recently used the Talking Tables Cake Central Cake Toppers on a selection of my baking creations, and they drew ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from the adult group I presented them to.

The provision of games and activities to push away boredom is a must have in my house. I’m always circulating our family collection and adding something each month to engage my kidlets and keep them busy. I am excited to see a bevy of options at Shop for Tots and they have just added even more to their wooden toys, puzzles and games area! They all make a special gift too.

To make things even more exciting, Shop For Tots currently have over 400 items on sale with up to 30% off. Take advantage of some of the super bargains you’ll find right now. You’ll also find a super special offer for KSF readers: enter code KSF-freeship for free shipping on all orders until 31August 2011.  And a quick reminder – you only have 10 days to get your entry into the Shop For Tots ‘Join our Community’ Competition which has over $1400 worth of prizes to be won.

For all the latest news from Shop for Tots, make sure to “like” their Facebook page.
