For sensational gift ideas this Christmas you need to look no further than the delightful pages of Design Child – www.designchild.com.au, where there are great presents for children of all ages. I’ve been keeping on top of their best ideas via the Design Child Facebook Page and today I’m bringing you my top picks from their divine range.

For a bigger gift under the tree this year a balance bike would be a fantastic choice. Design Child offer popular balance bikes that are well designed, great quality and with a great price tag. Check out the Urban and Missy bikes. I have a little lady who is a big fan of tea parties and teddy bear picnics so I have been eying off a teepee as a lovely option for my little hostess to hold her special gatherings. The sweet Girly Girl Teepee pictured below is my favourite design.

Christmas offers another opportunity to foster a love of reading, and you can do this with a lovely set of bookends from Design Child. They have the gorgeous Owl Bookends pictured below and the Sweet Birds Bookends – both priced at just $24.95. I also love the vintage look of these metal bicycle bookends by Hunters Hut for your little man – they suit a newborn right up to tween.

Boys will also enjoy stylish adventures thanks Automoblox, a little bit of Drummer Boy action with this great drum which also matches perfectly with this set of Soldier Skittles which have been reduced to $29.95 – bonus! Design Child have so much in stock for little girls it’s hard to narrow it down, but I do love the sweet Mushroom Stool and the classic Le Toy Van Baking Set.

I always love to pop a creative project in my children’s Santa sack ready to enjoy over the long summer break. Check out the range at Design Child by top selling brands Seedling and Djeco for inspiration. The Seedling Design your own Tote Bag and Djeco Princess Create a Story look like fantastic hours of fun for summer.

Christmas 2011: KidStyleFile’s Top 20 Gifts For Babies & Kids {Big Ticket Items Over $100}

Post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

As the final in our series of price-range Christmas gift guides, today I’m looking at the ‘big ticket items’, those items costing upwards of $100.  Some of these items might be wish list pieces, while others are more attainable.  Either way, enjoy the collection of twenty superb items guaranteed to light up any kid’s face on Christmas morning.

My two-year-old would think all his dreams had come true if he found a BIG Bobby Benz under the tree, while his older brother might be more interested in a Radio Flyer Dual Deck Red Flyer Tricycle, and I know they’d both love a Teepee from An Angel At My Table. Angela tells me that the Marble Sounding Tree is absolutely amazing – her family has one, and her daughters have had endless fun making beautiful music with it. Plus how incredibly stylish is this Janod Chic Maxi Kitchen? Boys and girls alike would have an amazing time cooking up a storm with that.

KidStyleFile Staff Top Christmas Gift Picks For Kids 2011: Under Edwina’s Christmas Tree
Edwina, Sacha 7, Finley 4 and Luka 10

Christmas is a wonderful time of year and we love to decorate, entertain and share the good tidings with our family and friends. When I am searching for gifts for my boys I try to balance some outdoor toys to enjoy over the Summer with some crafty fun and puzzles for indoor evenings or quiet time. Even though they are getting older, they still like to share a bath occasionally and some bath toys are always fun, especially if it involves squirting your brothers.

KidStyleFile Staff Top Christmas Gift Picks For Kids 2011: Under Edwina’s Christmas Tree

1. Hanno the Gorilla $130 from Miles Mason Trading Company
Hanno is designed by David Weeks for Areaware. He is made from sustainable beech wood and and can hold many poses. He reminds me of a Godzilla and will hopefully become a classic that will withstand generations of play.

2. Zoologic Puzzle $13.40 from Venucci
We love puzzles and the animals in this one can double as a your own zoo friends. 2 games in 1, perfecto!

3. Stickers Mouk for Boys $4.00 from French Bazaar
Set of 60 stickers inspired from the book “Around the World with Mouk”, because who doesn’t love cool stickers.

4. Piperoid Paper Pipe Robots $22.50 from Miles Mason Trading Company
Piperoid is a Japanese company who designs and manufactures paper pipe robots.  Easy to assemble with clear instructions, simply cut and fold, and once assembled, you can pose them with small adjustments of their movable joints. My oldest boy loves origami, and I know he will love these too. Plus they are super cool looking, love at first sight.

5. Happy Giddy Bug House $18.95 from Shop For Tots
Boys + Bugs = Happy Giddy Boys House.

6. Makedo Find and Make Robot $14.95 from Kindred Gifts
What I love about this craft kit is that it is really a tool box for creativity. It also encourages thinking about design and encourages recycling and reusing objects for fun and creative pursuits. The constituent pieces can be reused over and over to create an evolution of box robots, until they take over the house, perhaps?

7. Boon Creature Bath Toy Cup Set $19.95 from Cradle Rock
Anything to encourage a bath! Seriously great stocking stuffer and all round watery fun!

8. Boon – Splat $19.95 from Look Mummy
See above, but add a little competition Ring Toss into the mix.

9. Starkick Soccer Trainer $19.95 from Cradle Rock
We *heart* Soccer, so this will go down very well and I love to encourage skill development especially when it happens *outside*.

10. All Terrain Balance Bike $99.95 from Design Child
My youngest is nearly ready for a big bike, so this will be just the thing to get his balance and confidence developed. He loves chasing his bigger brothers so hopefully he will enjoy this all terrain set of wheels.

Please check individual stores for shipping costs. Also make sure you read the KidStyleFile All Current Deals page to be sure you’re getting the best deal.

Christmas 2011: KidStyleFile’s Top 20 Gifts For Babies & Kids {$50 to $100}

Posted: November 29th, 2011

Post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

To continue our Gift Guide Series, today I’m looking at gifts in the $50 to $100 price range.  It’s an excellent price bracket for buying something a little bit special for the boy or girl in your life who has tried extra hard to be good all year (a few whacks in the direction of his/her brother or sister notwithstanding); and there some amazing choices available.

The Cloud Bookcase pictured at #4 below would look beautiful in a nursery – fill it with new or secondhand books for your baby to enjoy to create a truly amazing gift. I’ve also included the Wheely Bug in the babies’ gifts section, because although it’s technically for 12+ months, my youngest child started playing with his brother’s Wheely Bug from about 4 months old, and loved it more than anything else we had – he’d grab at the wobbly antennae, kneel up while holding onto it, push it along like a walking trolley and so on. I’m also enamoured of the TrayKit which I think might be exactly what my boys need to help us all survive the long car trip we’re planning early in the New Year; and for little girls the Bobbi Sunshine Ruffled Daisy Swimsuit is simply too sweet for words. I am cheating by mentioning an extra product in addition to my top 20, but I also think this Stephen Joseph Backpack/Lunchbag Set is adorable and great value, and it comes in several other designs if farmyards aren’t your thing.

Keep reading to see my top twenty picks (in no particular order) for gifts in this price range, loosely grouped into products for babies, boys and girls.

Avoid The Crowds & Shop The Huge Range at Little Styles: 15% Storewide Discount Offer, Up To 40% Off Sale & 1,000+ Gift Ideas

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

I tried to go Christmas shopping at a large nearby shopping centre yesterday. Ugh, big mistake. It was crowded and noisy, my kids were acting up, and as I walked from shop to shop I had persistent salespeople leaping out at me from their stands trying to convince me to sell them my wedding rings or buy anything from hand cream to a Gold Coast timeshare.  I ended up stressed, frazzled and with none of the things on my list; half a day wasted. It served me as a timely reminder for why I usually prefer to shop online: none of the crowds or noise or irritating salespeople, loads more choice and almost always better prices; plus I can do it while the kids are playing happily or in bed. And even if I pay delivery prices it usually works out to be far less than I’d have spent in petrol, parking and child ‘good behavior bribes’ anyway!

There’s absolutely no reason for me to leave my house to do battle at the mall when sites like Little Styles – www.littlestyles.com.au – exist. Given that they stock over 3500 products from 135 top brands, offer flat-rate next day delivery (FREE when you spend over $150) and offer Terri’s famous customer service, it’s an absolute no-brainer for me now. Terri has been stocking up big time on Christmas gifts; in the Gifts Under $25 section alone there are around 650 choices! The Toys section is also bursting at the seams with beautiful ideas, and Little Styles even has a great range of Books & Stationery.

When it comes to Christmas day outfits, Little Styles have that covered too. I’ve pictured a few of my favourites below: for girls, the Oobi Rusalka Dress (pictured in Cherry Blossom but also available in Scarlet), SOSOOKI’s Polkadot Angalise Skirt and the stunning Saskia Tulle Skirt in Sky Blue, also by Oobi. Boys certainly aren’t hard done by either, with choices like the SOSOOKI White Denim Shorts With Braces and the Fox & Finch Woven Shirt in Red Check. Terri has put together ten whole pages of Christmassy clothing ideas, so have a browse and choose something gorgeous for your kids.

There’s even more incentive to shop at Little Styles over the next five days: when you spend over $65.00 (not including delivery), you can get 15% off store-wide* using the code chrissy15. Keep in mind this is only until Friday 2 December 2011 so you’ll need to be quick!  Make sure you also have a look through the amazing Sale Section where you’ll find discounts of up to 40% even before you apply your extra 15% discount.

I’d also suggesting making sure you’re signed up for the Little Styles weekly newsletter as it’s always full of great ideas and special deals – look for the subscription field on the left of the homepage as you scroll down.  Each week, until Christmas, they’ll be putting out a special gift guide too – handy! And the latest up-to-the-minute news plus your chance to get first dibs on promos, discounts and deals is always on the Little Styles Facebook Page.

Avoid The Crowds & Shop The Huge Range At Little Styles: 15% Storewide Discount Offer, Up To 40% Off Sale + 1000+ Gift Ideas

Take 15% off the prices below using the code chrissy15 when you spend $65 or more in one transaction excluding delivery. Offer ends on 2 December 2011. *There are no exceptions to the sale, strictly no rainchecks and the code must be used.
