I’m really excited about the creativity down here in Tasmania. Since moving here almost three years ago I am constantly discovering new talent – crafters, illustrators, sewers, knitters, photographers, writers – who knew this little island was such a haven of creation! Cathy McAuliffe from Phat Flats is a prime example.
Working from her studio in Hobart, Tasmania, Cathy observes everyday items and transforms them into lively, quirky and nostalgic hand-drawn images. She uses watercolour paints and finishes them with her unique wobbly line. You can choose from robots and retro toys, to fancy fairies or well loved teddy bears. And if you are so tired of pink and blue birth cards, Cathy has catered for those gender neutral requests with a very gorgeous rocking horse illustration that’s certainly one of my favourites. Love an image? Get it for your wall – all images can be reproduced as art prints on high-quality paper, or onto canvas prints ready to hang.
Her height charts would look bright and bold in any bedroom, while any gift wrapped in her fantastic illustrated wrapping paper designs would be much appreciated.
Phat Flat products are stocked Australia-wide and are also available online. Postage is calculated on the value of your order. Spend $25.00 or more and your goodies are sent free of charge!
