“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Albert Einstein.
Our youngsters typically have extraordinary imaginations. They hear monsters under the bed and fairies in the leaves of trees as the light dances through them. There are all types of wonderous things that their imaginations lead them to explore. Often, they are at risk of quietening this gift down as they move towards adulthood. I hold a firm belief that imagination needs to be nurtured, because this creativity can only enhance our adulthood and bless our lives.
The ‘Martian Embassy’ at the Sydney Story Factory – www.sydneystoryfactory.org.au - has just opened its doors in Redfern, Sydney. A safe-haven for the wayward martian, earthlings are also welcomed. Here small group and individual tutoring is provided to enhance the gift of the imagination. Sessions are FREE and open to all children. Check here to see what is on. There is also a fully stocked Martian store with human disguise kits and tins of gravity available for purchase.
Psst… spot Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief and I Am the Messenger, meeting a new friend?
