This month we’ve gathered a sample of some ethical fashion choices suitable for the coming warmer days. Being ethical about the fashion choices you make doesn’t mean sacrificing on style by any means; check out some of our fave spring/summer picks below for some inspiration.
The Green Guide is published once a month. Read previous ‘The Green Guide’ posts here.
a. Eternal Creation KD1109 Top,
$44.95 $35.96; KD1119 Pants $25.95 $20.76; HT145 Hat $25.95 $20.76
Eternal Creation is a full member of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand and manufactures beautiful, high quality clothing from their Himalaya Tailoring Centre in lower Dharamsala. This beautiful outfit is colourful and fun. The floral print on the cotton balloon pants has me longing for those sunny spring days that are just around the corner.
b. Eternal Creation KD1181 Shirt,
$54.95 $43.96; KD1186 Shorts, $49.95 $39.96; HT152 Hat, $29.95 $23.96
Beautifully tailored, but still cool enough to get some boyish approval, we love this Eternal Creation blue and denim ensemble. Eternal Creation is also one of the largest private employers in lower Dharamsala, providing valuable employment opportunities and prioritising fair labour conditions for all employees.
c. Girls Peasant Dress / Vintage Fabric / Upcycled, $38.00 USD
I think these colours scream summer. This upcycled little girl’s dress is made from lovely vintage cotton red gingham fabric. The bottom corner is adorned with a turquoise blue polka dot pocket.
d. Purebaby Highway Striped Tee, $34.95; Stovepipe Jean, $74.95 (SS12 due to arrive mid-August)
Purebaby’s vision is to create beautiful baby wear without compromising on social responsibility and their items are made from beautiful organic fabrics that wash and wear beautifully. I think any little boy would rock this cool tee and jeans ensemble.
e. Little Girl Dress, $85.00 USD
This pretty upcycled dress is made from upcycled clothing and vintage hankies; the soft flowing fabrics make this the perfect dress to twirl around in this coming summer.
f. Purebaby Woven Dress, $44.95 (SS12 due to arrive mid-August)
Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful chemicals, using methods and materials that have a low environmental impact making it a perfect choice for little children. The pure fibres allow your baby’s skin to breathe naturally. This beautiful woven dress is pretty, soft and comfortable enough for exploring little babes to roam around in. I love the little butterfly sleeves, so sweet!
g. Eternal Creation KD1162 Playsuit – Boys,
$39.95 $31.96; HT148 Hat $29.95 $23.96
This fair-trade playsuit for baby boys comes in an adorable cotton print. Fully lined, it features shoulder and crotch snaps for easy changing. The matching hat will protect your little one from the sun.
h. Purebaby Henna Blouse, $49.95; Slub Shorts, $32.95 (SS12 due to arrive mid-August)
I love clothing that affords kids some sun protection via longer sleeves, and this organic blouse in white and coral does just that. The slub shorts match perfectly for a smart casual spring/summer look.
i. Every Little Girl Navy Dress with Full Skirt Organic Cotton, $34.99
Made from 100% organic cotton, this colourful vest dress is bright and bold. Perfect over a pair of bathers this summer.
