Our youngest seems to take to any sport we throw his way. At 2 he hopped on a skateboard and at 3 he mastered the bicycle. We credit the balance bike we bought him for his birthday – a marvellous invention that has kids hopping from trike to bike in no time.

With the growing popularity of ride on bikes, there are some really clever designs out there, including the BIT bike by Glodos. At first glance it is futuristic and sleek, a stunning combination of a laminated wood chassis and bold, bright wheels in four fabulous shades. It has a wonderful organic shape and no sharp edges, with the best part being the inbuilt handlebars that integrate within the body of the bicycle that not only please little riders but are a handy handle for parents to carry.

For those who are just beginning to find their feet, Glodos has also released the Flap, a walking frame that helps babies take their first steps in safety and comfort. An anti rollover handlebar assist ergonomics and helps support balance and stability. There is even a large front basket (for carrying all important teddies around), which is detachable and can be washed.

The Glodos BIT bike is available to buy in Australia for $145.00 + postage both online and in-store from the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.

The Glodos Flap will be available to buy in Australia from early October 2012 and will retail for $145.00. Please contact the Australian Distributor Evan at Arnott’s Gadget Man with enquiries or to pre-order.
