For the last four years, trains have topped the list as a favourite for many kids in our Annual KidStyleFile Reader Survey. More specifically – Thomas The Tank Engine. I don’t think Rev Wilbert Vere Awdry ever really thought about the impact his anthropomorphised trains would make on the world when he created them in 1943. The multi-platform toy is loved by millions. Thomas and friends seems to have an irresistible charm that makes me almost certain that every household with at least one child will have something ‘Thomas” inside. Such is the love in our house that we have trekked to the Blue Mountains to ride this famous train!
With the upcoming release of Thomas’ ‘Blue Mountain Mystery’ DVD, my kidlets are beside themselves with anticipation of a new Thomas story with new engines. The story takes us to the island of Sodor where Thomas spots an engine that he has never seen before that is trying to hide. Of course Thomas’ curiosity leads him to befriend the new engine and attempt to sort out his issues.
In conjunction with the DVD release, Fisher-Price have released the new Thomas & Friends ‘Blue Mountain Mystery’ Toy range. It features the two main locations from the movie, the Blue Mountain Quarry and Brendam Docks, as well as the introduction of some new friends.
Available now is the Thomas & Friends TrackMaster™ Risky Rails Bridge Drop, which includes a 60cm mountain making it the tallest TrackMaster ever made. It also includes a drop bridge and cranes. This month we see the release of Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play™ Luke Die-Cast vehicle and Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play™ Winston Die-Cast vehicle. Both are suitable for the Take-n-Play’ portable fold out sets. I’m looking forward to the September release of Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play™ Great Quarry Climb. This set stacks and folds for storage and is certain to provide hours of play.
The new Thomas & Friends™ ‘Blue Mountain Mystery’ toy range is available from Target, Kmart, Toys R Us, Big W and other good toy retailers, and is suitable for ages 3 years and up. You can check out the entire range here.
