I posted in February on the chaos of my domestic habitat. I am proud to report that last weekend (while Dad and the kids were out, and I was supposed to be sleeping off an icky cold; I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity!) I de-cluttered my desk and workspace. It was getting to the point that I was struggling to find the keyboard on my desk, so y’know, it was way overdue!

The lynchpin of the success of the operation was the Krooom Juliette Desk organiser, which I purchased from ShopHouse - www.shophouse.com.au - recently.

juliette.jpgdon.jpg lk2.jpglk3.jpg

I have had one of these organisers on my list for some time, but the utilitarian grey variety commonly found just didn’t light my fire. Juliette’s sophisticated design, earth-friendly ethos paired with ShopHouse’s FREE shipping deal on the Krooom products clinched the deal.

Juliette comes flat packed, and you build her yourself. This task is made easy as pie with ShopHouse’s how-to video (there’s a link on each product page).

Other Krooom products include the ‘Don’ Table and Chairs set, and Storage Bench Box for kids. Way cool products that think outside the square. That’s what we like!

Bag a bargain: Kiddysac - the perfect gift for Easter and beyond. Get 10% off at Kinder Kaboodle

Posted: March 14th, 2008

My kids started pre-school recently, and I bought them new lunch boxes with configurable compartments, and insulated lunch bags. They also need to take along hats, and a spare set of clothing.

I love the practicality of backpacks, but the only ones we had have a zillion different pockets and zippers, and are really a bit complex for current needs, little fingers, and teachers who may need to grab a change of clothes in a hurry.

I spotted the Kiddysac backpacks a while ago, and they caught my eye with their bold fabric colours, happy character appliqués and the simplicity of their easy-open-and- shut drawstring closures.

imag001.JPG kiddysac-large-pink-princess.jpgimag002.JPGimag022.JPG

Cute, huh? And in real life they are much better even than they look on screen!

They are constructed of a thick, quality gabardine-y drill fabric, that adds a slight retro feel, are lined, have adjustable buckle straps and reinforced stitching at the apex of the straps in anticipation of repeated usage. The drawstring is easy for the kids to open and pull closed, which really makes them feel capable and competent; it’s great to see a product for kids that kids can actually use themselves.

The character patches, in designs such as princess, pirate, cat, crocodile, butterfly, and dinosaur, are a thick appliqué.

I’m not exactly sure how they are applied (heat set?), but I’ve tried hard to pick them off, and they ain’t coming!

These bags are the perfect size (45cmx40cm) for a spare set of clothing plus some extras. I’m thinking that when ‘big school’ starts they will fill the perfect role of library bag. Squashable, washable, and super-cute to boot!

Now I know what lovely quality these bags are, I’m looking towards the smaller variety as ‘wrapping’ for Easter goodies.

The ‘dilly bag’ style resonates with me, as my Nan used to make this style of bag, and they had endless uses to us kids.

I know that after they serve their function as wrapping, they will be perfect for storing small treasures. (I know a menagerie of farm and African animals that would go perfectly in these bags!)

Kiddysac also make pencil cases, shoulder bags, and wall pockets. Prices range from $32.95 for the backpacks (45cmx40cm) to $24.95 for large bags (45cmx40cm), $16.95 for medium bags (27cmx20cm), $12.95 for pencil cases (20cmx16cm), $12.95 for handbags (14cmx10cm + 14cm handle length), and $49.95 for hanging wall pocket storage products (60cmx45cm).

Kiddysac products are available from Rosie Pose - www.rosiepose.com.au (backpacks, pencil cases, wall pockets and medium sized bags) - and Kinder Kaboodle - www.kinderkaboodle.com.au (large bags, medium bags, and handbags).

Kinder Kaboodle offers name personalisation on large bag sizes for just $8.00! With a mere 24 hour turnaround to have your bag personalised, this is an irresistible option. No more having to attach labels yourself! Yay!

In addition to this service, Kinder Kaboodle is offering KidStyleFile readers a 10% discount off Kiddysac products. Enter ‘KSF’ at the discount code section at checkout to receive 10% off the purchase price.

Rosie Pose charge $6.50 flat for Express Postage Australia wide. Choose to have your purchases gift wrapped free of charge! International orders are very welcome. Check here for full shipping details.

Luxe from Infancy to Adulthood (minimink) Goes the Distance - 15% off for KidStyleFile Readers

Posted: March 12th, 2008

There are some things that just make life so much better. Simple things, like your favourite t-shirt or teddy, a warm bath, or a hot drink on a cold day. These things enhance it and enrich life, add to your days and bring continuity and comfort.

To me (minimink) - www.minimink.com.au - blanket rugs are one of these things.

The softness and encompassing warmth of these blankets makes me feel so cosied up, so luxuriously, fundamentally pampered. It’s just divine. I count my (minimink) as one of my favourite things.

sebastianandblanket_smaller.jpg5ad9959722f31f7130a6b26a10589fc0.jpg4c76e7992c2e6f74abd740ebcfedd1f4.jpgcherryrug.jpg

These days my very own blankie has been largely purloined by my two children, who love to snuggle up under it, one at each end of the couch, letting the texture tickle their noses.

Watching them, I don’t mind so much that it has been appropriated, because who can blame them for claiming it: there’s no other blanket that comes close.

There are so many beautiful gifts that a child can receive as a gift, but few will go on to be as relevant throughout the years as a beautiful (minimink).

Perfect for tummy time, telly time, quiet time, bed-time, car rides, it’s presence will be there right through your child’s journey to adulthood to when your own little one has his or her own little ones.

(minimink) also offer a range of other products in their trademark faux fur fabric including baby booties, pram liners, papooses, hats, mittens, scarves, teddies, and gift packs, and also have a wonderful line of beautifully soft and snugly organic cotton.

A lasting, precious gift indeed for special ones of any and every age, (minimink) blankets and accessories make a great for Easter and the upcoming colder months. What’s more, (minimink) products are Australian designed and owned; another reason to feel warm and fuzzy about them.

(minimink) make rugs in three sizes - 100×100 ($88.00), 110×140cm ($102.00) and 200×150cm ($160.00).

Colours include ‘Chocolate’, ‘Honey’ and ‘Milk”, and the limited edition ‘Cherry Red’.

(minimink) are offering KidStyleFile readers a great discount of 15% off until March 31. Enter ‘KSF loves minimink’ at the coupon code section at checkout to receive 15% off the purchase price.

(minimink) charge $8.00 for postage Australia wide. International orders are warmly welcomed. See here for more details on shipping costs.

Have you looked at the calendar lately? I just did, and Easter is approaching fast! Good Friday is happening on March 21 this year, so you (and me!) only have a couple of weeks to get your shopping done.

We’re in luck though, as rewards are to be had for savvy early-bird bunnies who plan ahead and shop at Pastel Pink - www.pastelpink.com.au

Cheryl at Pastel Pink knows just what we need, and she is offering the sweetest Easter deals exclusively to KidStyleFile readers.

Buy any Gertie and Me Bunny for your child for Easter and receive a FREE Emotion and Kids 3 pack of quality socks (RRP $11) in your choice of Pale Blue, Pink, Navy or Red!! Superb!

The super-soft buns range between $24.95-$29.95. View the delightful selection you have to choose from here.

I highly recommend Gertie and Me. We have both the waffle-fabric toys and the velour bunnies in our home - the velour softness of the bunnies is sooo divine, and the design is just perfect for little hands - and I gift them often (just sent one to Germany); they’re classy, friendly and affordable.

While you’re shopping, why not pick up a pressie for yourself?

Pastel Pink currently has kikki.K products* on sale for 30% off, and if you purchase 3 pieces or more you get to choose a FREE pack of kikki.K Sticky Notes in either the ‘Animal‘ or ‘Fashion‘ designs. *Including kikki-K Recipe Book, Baby Journal, My Friends, My Wedding (all pictured below), and My Dream Home, My Bills, My Receipts, My Pregnancy, My Recipes and Sticky Notes (not pictured).

receipe_journal_det.jpgbabyjournal.jpg12.jpgwedding.jpg

That’s just what I need to get myself organised as the weather cools. (I’m not too inclined to spend the Winter months cooped inside surrounded by indescribably bad clutter; aesthetically pleasing organisational tools might just inspire me to tidy and brighten up my space).

Pastel Pink’s Summer Sale also still has some Oobi (including the iconic Cable Knit Bear Hat with Ears Beanies and matching Cable Knit Booties for just $20.97 apiece; snap up these and grab a true bargain for Autumn/Winter), and Gaia Organic Cotton separates for the bebes, and Mitsy jewellery and bags for the Mamas (hey, Mother’s Day isn’t that far away either; you can justify it ;)

Pastel Pink also stock David Fussenegger, Elk Designs, Skeanies, Alimrose, Hess-Spielzeug, Cold Coffee and FlatOut Australia etc. Winter stock is arriving soon, so keep your eyes on the Pastel Pink site for regular additions.

Mention ‘KSF’ in the notes section at checkout, together with your preference for sock colour/Sticky Notes, to receive your gorgeous gift with purchase. This offer is available until stock runs out; there is limited availability so binky on over to Pastel Pink to score!

Pastel Pink send parcels overnight via Express Post. Charges are $7.40 for parcels weighing 500gm and under, and $10.40 for 500gm-3kg.

Important update 19 March 08: The gift with purchase offers have now concluded. Check 19 March post for details of a super new offer :)
