Dance With Joy At Tiny Steps: Up to 40% off Sale + EXTRA 10% off for KSF Readers

Posted: February 19th, 2010

Today’s post brought to you by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

When my first son was a baby and a new walker, I was a regular customer at Tiny Steps – www.tinysteps.com.au.  Fiona was incredibly helpful when it came to helping me choose shoes for my wobbly, toddling bundle of joy, and I completely trusted her judgement as she specialises in shoes for under-twos and the specific needs of their little feet.

I came away with many a beautiful pair of little shoes, safe in the knowledge that they’d perfectly support my son’s developing feet, and having easily chosen the right size due to Tiny Steps’ comprehensive sizing guides.  The day I realised his feet had grown too big for me to shop at Tiny Steps any more was a sad one, but thank goodness I now have baby number 2, and a whole new reason to do some more miniature shoe shopping!

For anyone else who has little feet to buy for, I wholeheartedly recommend Tiny Steps.  For one thing, buying online from Tiny Steps’ huge range is so much easier than dragging a tantruming toddler through shoe shops (especially when you’re then told that they only have one or two styles in your child’s size). For another, Fiona’s customer service is legendary: FREE customised gift wrap, a no-fuss returns policy, plus the shoes are all shipped in their original boxes (always a bonus), and the site offers flat-rate express or registered postage, and orders over $150 ship free.  There are also a great range of accessories to select from from labels including Eeeni Meeni Miini Moh and BlaBla. You can see why I’ve kept going back!

There’s an extra reason to shop at Tiny Steps right now, too: in addition to a most impressive store-wide sale with up to 40% off, the wonderful Fiona is extending an additional 10% off store-wide discount to all KSF readers. Yep, up to 50% off brands including Pediped, Pedoodles, shooshoos, Sweet Shoes, diddledumpling, Bibi, Annabel Tends, 2feettall, Blabla, Kinder Clobber, SKEANIE, Cheeky Little Soles, Vessel, Scruffy Dog, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, Woof!, Old Soles, Rileyroos and BLOCH. Woo! Enter discount code ‘KSFFEB10‘ at checkout to redeem this offer until 28 February 2010. If that doesn’t make you feel like dancing, I don’t know what will ;)

Baby’s Got Essential Style – New Purebaby Essentials Range + WIN a Lovestamp Necklace + WIN a $200 BGS Gift Voucher!

Posted: June 29th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

I’ve been indulging myself in one of my favourite pastimes just now.  I made myself a cup of Earl Grey, I snuck a chocolate biscuit (ok, fine, two), and I sat myself down in front of the computer and went straight to Baby’s Got Style – www.babysgotstyle.com.au.

I’m sure by now you all know about the divine range of goodness that is BGS.  You’ll know all about the ever-continuing range of hot new products that Daniela and her team work tirelessly to source, and you’ll know about how you can win a $200 BGS voucher every month simply by signing up to their newsletter.  You’ll already know all about the vast range of boutique brands stocked (see below the image collage for the full list), and you’ll probably have placed enough orders to know about the spectacular customer service provided.

It’s little wonder it’s Australia’s premier baby and kids online boutique really, isn’t it?

But have you dropped in lately and seen what’s new in store?  Personally, I’m really excited by the Purebaby Essentials range: an incredibly well-priced everyday organics range, which looks fantastic (as you’d expect from Purebaby) but also washes beautifully and feels absolutely divine (as you’d expect from Purebaby). There’s a good range of colours which can be matched or mixed according to your mood, and the cut looks so comfy (as you’d expect from Purebaby!) that I find myself wishing they’d hurry up and make an adults’ range!

Another new line instore are the Lovestamp necklaces; simple and elegant, these silver necklaces stamped with your child’s name – or children’s names, you can easily add extra tags – are an incredibly special keepsake, and would also make a beautiful gift for a grandmother, godmother or special person in your child’s life.

Baby’s Got Style have a competition running at the moment where you could win a Lovestamp Silhouette boy or girl necklace, personalised with your child’s name and valued at $99.95.  It’s easy – all you have to do is email Baby’s Got Style (with ‘Lovestamp comp’ in the subject field) and tell them in 50 words or less why you would like to wear the love.

KidStyleFile Special Feature: Rug up this Winter with the Snuggliest Woollies Around

Posted: May 8th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

………………………………………………………………………………………………

Winter is creeping up on us, and it’s time to start thinking about warm, woolly things to snuggle up in during the colder months. Luckily all the top kidswear designers are waaaay ahead of us in this department, as hitting the stores right now is a spectacular and vibrant selection of woollens and knits to keep the kids toasty warm!

I’m loving the chunky knits from Eternal Creation – the colours, the detailing, the fact that they’re all hand-knitted under fair trade conditions; there’s a lot to love about these pieces.  They’re also at 15% off until 8th May, so if you get in quickly you might be able to nab the kids a bargain!

Although there’s loads out there for knits, my other personal favourites are Little Amigos, Polka and Oobi.  The designers for all three brands have all kept true to their brand’s ‘feel’ while still bringing a fresh and fun take to winter kidswear – any of these will go down a treat, you may be sure.

Hats are an essential piece of winter equipment for children, and there’s absolutely no need to go towards the boring end of the scale here.  My picks this winter are the adorable knitted hats from Rock Your Baby (pictured below at nos 6 & 7), and the Blabla character knit hats are seriously adorable too.  Besides those, anything with at least one pompom is good by me – see Oobi and Purebaby for more examples of these.

1. Polka Smooth Sailing Sweater, $69.95
2. Polka Happy Baby Pants, TBA
3. Eternal Creation Scarf & Hat, $49.95  $39.95
4. Little Amigos Striped Rainbow Jumper, $64.95
5. Purebaby Powder Blue Pompom Beanie, $24.95
6. Rock Your Baby Pixie Hat, $30.00
7. Rock Your Baby Devil Hat, $30.00
8. Oobi Nanna’s Strawberry Knit Dress – Chocolate, $49.95
9. Merino Kids Fully Fashioned Over-Wide Leg Pants – Periwinkle, $45.00
10. Purebaby Tea rose Cable Knit Beanie, $24.95
11. Mokopuna Merino Wool Baby Sleepsuit, $54.50
12. Blabla Handknit Beanie – Lion, $39.95

Now just before I sign off, let me talk to you for a second about merino wool, specifically merino wool products made in New Zealand.

Besides all the obvious jokes I could make about kiwis and sheep (trust me, I’ve heard them all!), I have to say, merino wool kidswear is one thing the kiwis do very, very well.  I lived in New Zealand for several years until recently so was able to experience it firsthand, and the quality and feel of the merino items there is second to none; silky, incredibly fine, luxurious and yet amazingly tough.  My son’s merino tops just get flung in the washing machine and they come out perfectly every time with no special treatment.

The top brands for merino kidswear are Mokopuna (now stocked at Metro Mum) and Merino Kids, and Nature Baby do an excellent merino line too.

Here are the gorgeous new Mokopuna Cocoono merino sleeping bags, arriving mid May at Metro Mum:

Please check individual sites for postage details, and as always, check the KidStyleFile ‘All Current Deals’ page to ensure you’re getting the best deal on your purchase!

Christmas Gift Guide at The Hip Infant: 15% off for 48 Hours Only

Posted: November 2nd, 2008

Today’s post brought to you by Miki.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

It’s the time of year again when everyone who has to buy a Christmas gift for a small child – whether their own children or someone elses – starts scratching their heads and wondering what would be appropriate.

With this in mind, I’ve put together a gift guide for babies to preschoolers at one of my favourite online stores, The Hip Infant - www.thehipinfant.com.au, purveyors of the finest clothing, toys and accessories for babies and kids from birth to 2 years.

Without further ado, here are my hot picks for you!

For babies (up to 12 months of age), I recommend the Alimrose handsqueekers which come in all sorts of different designs and make the cutest noises when squeezed.  They’re also very sensitive so the tiniest baby fist can get a sound out of them.

THI also has an excellent range of wooden toys, rattles and pram strings which go down a treat – I love wooden toys, they’re classy and last forever.

If you want to give clothes, I personally love gifting The Hip Infant basics range, which is affordable, stylish and excellent quality.

On to the toddlers now. From here I’ve done gender-specific gift suggestions, but it goes without saying that they’ll work just as well for the opposite gender if you simply choose a different colour or design.

Toddler girls will love the range of soft toys, especially those from Alimrose and BlaBla which are incredibly sweet and whimsical. You could also give her a lamp for her room, as it’s possible by this stage that she’s spooked by the dark.  The soft glow of a night light can be very comforting, and these ones look great as well!

My favourite idea for toddler boys is to get a funky little bag such as a Tiger Tribe drawstring bag, and fill it with board books.

Toddlers are often very proud of being able to feed themselves, so a funky dinner set (I love French Bull robots and monsters) is another idea.

Preschoolers looooove water play (don’t we all!) so I think bath toys are a great way to go here. THI has a big range of Alex Toys and Bud Luxury Ducks so there’s plenty to choose from.

Most bath toys are fairly unisex, but if you want to go gender specific then girls will love the Alex Toys Princess In The Tub set while boys are likely to shun that in favour of the Alex Toys Shaving In The Tub set – he can shave just like Daddy!  Why not make up a lovely gift package by adding a funky Annabel Trends bath cap to the bundle?

More ideas for preschoolers are to make up a parcel including a Hip Stuff Wooden Hairbrush and a selection of JewelQueen hair clips for a little girl, and the For Walls chalkboard robot or truck for a boy – as they’re designed to be safely removed and repositioned on walls, you (or his parents) will love them!

To give you the added incentive (as if you need it!) to snap swome goodies up for Christmas, Mel at The Hip Infant is offering KidStyleFile readers 15% off store-wide… but only for 48 hours! So get moving NOW as the discount ends at 9am on the 4th of November.  Enter code ‘KSF1′ at checkout to redeem.

First up, some body love for new mums and little babes from Wedela. Baby’s Got Style is carrying the renowned Calendula Baby range, as well as Baby Colic and Teething powder,  rash relief cream, breastfeeding tea, Blackhorn elixir (useful for fatigue), nipple care cream and Almond face products.

A German company founded in 1921 dedicated to supporting the inherent healing properties of the human body, their motto is “In harmony with nature and the human being”. Wedela’s focus is firmly on the gentlest most nurturing care of your skin, without compromising nature – sustainability is paramount – and supporting the primary producers they trade with – Weleda contracts until Fair Trade practices. Wedela products are comprised of bio-dynamic ingredients, are free from chemicals, and are never tested on animals. You and your baby or child deserve no less, and with prices between $12-$26, you can well afford it!

To celebrate the arrival of Weleda at Baby’s Got Style, Daniela and the team at BGS are giving every customer who places an order in October a FREE Calendula Nappy Change cream sample.

Also, would you like to go into the into the draw to WIN an amazing Weleda gift pack valued at over $300? To enter all you have to do is purchase any item from the Weleda range during October (if you purchase two items you get two entries, and so on)!

Onto the fashion at Baby’s Got Style now. And boy, there’s a lot to talk about there!! Over 100 new kids summer styles, and over 200 babies summer styles have arrived in store in the last 2 weeks. Woah, baby! It’s going to be a hot summer!

I’m hugely loving Polka, a new range for girls. I’ve paired their Yoga Bum pants (back view shown: how cool are they?!) with a summery light Fresh Baked top, for a visual splendor of cool comfort, and their ‘Birdy’ dress is to die for. This is Polka’s first collection, and they had a limited run to test the water, which means once it’s sold out, that’s it, so get in quick!

I’m inspired by boys summer pieces too: I’m totally digging the Freshbaked Disco Beats Tee, with Ouch black cargoes and Rock Your Baby Peace Cap.

Onto face fashion now: new at Baby’s Got Style are the the range of kid’s sunnies from Frankie Ray; 100% UV protection with shatter proof lens, super cool, and suitable for the 4-14 set, you’ll be wishing you had a pair!

In the decor section are the most delightful large counting cards from Eeeboo. Simply beautiful!

If you’re looking for a gorgeous gift for a newborn you cannot go past Dwell Studio’s mind blocks. Tactile, visually stimulating and clever these are relevant from birth up until 2+ years.

Finally, as we’re heading into the out-and-about season, you’ll want to be prepared. Pick up a Dinky Diner, and you’ll be able to safely contain your little charge wherever you go – no more contending with icky highchairs in restaurants, or missing out on one altogether. The Dinky Diner folds up and fits right in your handbag. Neat!

In the picks below I’ve specified the sizes each product is in available in. If you’re browsing in general, I recommend that you use Baby’s Got Style like this:  select the ‘Babies’ tab for sizes 00000-2, The ‘Kids’ tab for sizes 3-8 , and the ‘Mum’s tab for Mums and Mums-to-be.

Also, don’t forget to check out the Sale items in each category. There are over 300 items on sale up to 50% off. Go to it!
