Roundup: Light Up Your Life & Set The Mood with The Best Lights and Lamps for Kid’s Rooms

Light. Many a Hollywood actress knows the importance of light. Soft lighting, for instance, creates the illusion of youth ;-) When it comes to nurseries a strategically placed light can set the mood: calmness through dim lights; sunshine and crispness through bright lights; focal points spotlighted. Sometimes changing your nursery ambiance needs nothing more than the addition of a special light.

First spotted at Kids InStyle in Sydney earlier this year, the Heico Scruffy Puppy lamp is on my wishlist for later this year, and my kids’ current favourite is their Giimo night light. We have Sparky the green and white dog who has become an integral part of our lives – my children won’t go to bed without him lighting their room with his calming rainbow of colours.

There is smorgasboard of wonderful lighting out there for babies and kids rooms and today we give you a head start on sourcing the perfect light source for your needs. Go ahead: light up your life!

Where Do You Go For The Best Mothers Day Gifts? Where Did You Get That? of Course! 15% off Just For Mums

Do you know what’s happening in one week and one day?  Any guesses?  Yes, you in the corner over there..?

That’s right!  It’s Mother’s Day in one week tomorrow, and if you haven’t ordered yourself, or your mum – or your mother-in-law, whatever you do, don’t forget her!! – a present then NOW is the time to do so.

I recommend going straight to Where Did You Get That? – www.wheredidyougetthat.com.au – for a wonderful selection of gifts for every mum’s taste.

Personally I love the Candela range.  These award winning portable lights are perfect for so many occasions – kids’ night lights, dimmable feeding lamps in the nursery, dinner table decorations, camping accessories, you name it – and once you’re done you just pop them back in the subtle base to recharge.  Can’t get easier than that, and they look so good!

For mums who believe that there’s more to life than what you can see – that’s such a lovely philosophy – I recommend considering one of the pieces by Enchanted Faeries.  Suitable for indoor and outdoor use and available in a range of sizes, I think one of these highly collectible pieces would look lovely hidden in a garden.  Part of the charm of the range, besides the quality and detail of their construction, is the way each Faerie has her own personality and distinct features.  Look closely at the faces of each one to see what I mean!

Until midnight on Monday 4th May 2009, you can take 15% off everything in the ‘Just For Mums‘ category at WDYGT? by using the code ‘THANKSMUM’ (nawwwww). This only gives you a couple of days in which to snap up the bargains, so hurry hurry!

Just quickly before I sign off, I also want to mention the cool new jeans by Tea Collection for boys and girls that have just landed at WDYGT? When you take into account the brand’s quality and the fact that they’re retailing here for $20 less than their RRP, you know you’re getting a good deal!

Prices marked in red  are applicable using the code ‘THANKSMUM’ (valid on all products in the ‘Just For Mum’ category) until midnight, 4 May 2009.

1. Spa Super Absorbent Hair Turban, $29.95 $25.60
2. Candela Glow 4 Set, $176.00 $149.60
3. Enchanted Faeries ‘Catkin of the Willow’, $34.95 $29.70
4. Chicken Blackboard Sticker, $39.00 $33.15
5. Daily Tea Rooster Long Sleeve Top, $34.95
6. Tea Collection Sora Boy’s Denim Pant, $79.95 $59.95
7. Enchanted Faeries ‘Dian O’Fay of the Oak’, $129.95 $110.45

9. Daily Tea Bird Print Long Sleeve Shirred Top, $34.95

It’s getting very, very close to the cut-off times for ordering your Christmas presents online, but you’ll be glad to know that you’ve still got a couple of days up your sleeve at The Hip Infant – www.thehipinfant.com.au.

Mel at THI knows that her customers need to be sure of delivery by Christmas Eve, and so she’s set her cut-off ordering time for Monday 22nd December (that’s two days from now) at midday AEST.

It goes without saying though, that the earlier you order the better.  Make sure you order early (like, now) if you want big items, as by Monday all orders will need to be sent in Express Post satchels in order to make it to you on time.

So what to order?  There are sooooooo many choices at The Hip Infant that I barely know where to begin!

Well what I will tell you is that Santa sent me a Trunki Towgo from The Hip Infant just last week!  Needless to say I was overjoyed, and I was amazed how fast delivery was, especially given that I’m in New Zealand.  Thanks Santa – *mwah!*

I also want to point out The Hip Infant’s Wall Graphics which featured on my Christmas Top 10 List. The hot air balloons are my pick, but also do check out the beautiful Love Trees which are available in pink and blue.

The Hip Infant’s Basics Range is a surefire winner, and it’s a favourite of mine for gifting; always goes down a treat.  And it’s just got better: the Limited Edition THI Basics Range features adorable appliques which will perfectly suit your bub over summer.  They’re so affordable too!

You can still place orders for ID Tees until 3pm AEST tomorrow (20 Dec).  These stunning personalised tees are always a hit – kids love personalised items, and the ID Tees are stylish as well which means Mum is happy too!

For those who are on a bit of a budget this year – let’s face it, who isn’t? – or for those who’ve already bought the ‘big presents’ and now just need stocking stuffers and smaller gifts, I strongly recommend paying a visit to the Gifts Under $25 category.  Mel has helpfully put it together to make shopping a breeze and with around 180 gorgeous products in there you certainly won’t lack for choice!

Shop at The Hip Infant before Christmas Eve, spend more than $50.00 (before postage), and you’ll receive the cutest little tape measure: super handy when shopping online as you need never order the wrong size for your kids again!

Even better, you’ll also receive 15% off all purchases over $50!! Enter ‘KSF’ at checkout by Christmas Eve to claim this great discount.

Remember that you can take 15% off these prices AND receive a free gift simply by making sure your purchase is $50 or more! Offer ends 24 December 2008.

The Hip Infant: Design Chic for Life – New Gift with Purchase Offer

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Looking for the most chic clothing decor and accessories for your baby or child from birth to two years plus? The Hip Infant – www.thehipinfant.com.au- is ‘it’, baby!

The Hip Infant has been on the scene for 4 years now, and Head Hipster Mel, mother of four, and former neonatal nurse, really knows a thing or two about style, and what works. If a product doesn’t look hip, and make life as a parent easier, she doesn’t stock it!

This means that everything at The Hip Infant is possessed of breathtakingly beautiful looks, and can take all the rough treatment that little kids dish out.

I read once that our aesthetic is shaped from infancy, that the objects we come into contact with from an early age inform our perception and understanding of the world.

If that’s true, you can get your little one off to a flying start in the taste department with the artily designed – and very practical; love the removable portion containers with lids, and replacement pieces (sold separately) – Skip Hop Palette Plate.

For room decor and wall decoration, swing by The Hip Infant’s own range of Wall Graphics (the pink Love Tree is a stunning statement piece at 1.4 metres high), and the DwellStudio range for stylish linens that impart a calm and cosmopilatan look that reminds me of New York lofts.

Need modern daywear for your babe? THI’s Limited Edition Basics stripes with owl, bird, and elephant prints are just the thing.

Amusement for your little one? The Oeuf NYC lounger is the ultimate in bouncer-tainment, and you’ll be thrilled by their decor-friendly looks.

Candela Candaloo Nightlights offer comfort at night time for all those wary of the dark, and the new lunchbags and drink flask designs from Bobble Art are truly hip! Tiger Tribe have also come out with super cool Mix-a-Pix: maganetic puzzles in a range of designs, complete with collectable retro tins.

Shop at The Hip Infant in November, spend more than $50.00 (before postage), and you’ll receive a very thoughtful cute-as-a-button tape measure: super handy when shopping online.
