Togetherness Made Simple at Babes in Arms: 15% off all ERGObaby Carriers + Free Express Postage*

I’m a keen babywearer and love spreading the word about the wonderful benefits babywearing (proving that it isn’t just for hippies!).

Miss N is 18 months now and I am still slipping her into the ERGObaby carrier (which she calls “Ergy”) for our daily jaunts. She loves it and I love it: there is no shoulder or back pain with this amazing carrier, and whichever position I put her in, front, hip or back, she is beaming from ear to ear.

I have to make a special note of the ERGObaby Sport Carrier, which is wonderful for summer as it has a breathable fabric and extra vent to keep bubs cool. The waist band also extends a further 4″ and the waist band 5″ making it the perfect carrier for dads and taller women like me. It’s also the cheapest in the range – very convenient.

If you are travelling this year I highly recommend picking up an ERGObaby carrier -  it will become the best travel companion you’ve ever had! Unlike a pram, you CAN take the path less trodden, the staircase, ride easily on a golf buggy (yes we did this at Hamilton Island easily) and use public transport with ease. Arguably the ERGObaby carrier is most versatile baby carrier on the market.

To help you experience an ERGObaby carrier, Babes in Arms – www.babesinarms.com.au are offering all KSF readers 15% off all carriers with the code ‘KSFEBC-0110′ plus FREE Express Post shipping *within Australia until 31 January 2010. Your only issue now is selecting which one…

Join the Babes in Arms Facebook Fan page to keep up to date with the latest babywearing news, and to be kept in the loop for regular giveaways.

Prices quoted below are available with code only (read above) until 31 January 2010 only.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

In only a few days our jolly friend Father Christmas will set off for his busiest night of the year. His magical elves have been working like crazy to fill his sack with gifts for all the good little boys and girls, but there is always a little room for more from The Bees Knees Kids – www.thebeeskneeskids.com.au.

First up, stop by the Sale section at The Bees Knees Kids: stock within is up to 40% off, and sure to bring smiles.

Stella Cove girls swimwear has just been added to The Bees Knees Kids website, with orders being taken now for delivery at the end of next week. Whether you’re jumping in a backyard pool or dipping your toes into the surf this summer, a pair of gorgeous bathers are called for. (I think my Miss N will look gorgeous in the Hepburn Maillot one-piece.)

Ruffle Butts are a sweet and delightful brand which brings a hip and modern approach to the traditional ruffled bloomer. Recently new lines have been added to include gorgeous tops and dresses that compliment the bottoms.  Hot this season are the swing tops such as the Colourful Camilla which offer a blast of bold colour, are fully lined with 100% cotton and are one of the easiest tops to put on and off with a single button at the back. (With a squirmy Miss N this top is a blessing!)

One of my most difficult purchases each year, has been finding the perfect hat for my kidlets for the sunny season. The brim is very important, and needs to cover both the back of the neck and the face. The Bees Knees Kids has this covered with a range of Vintage Kids hats for babies, boys and girls, which are reversible, and better still – 40% off! The patterns are so reminiscent of my own childhood that I found myself daydreaming about climbing trees….what will it take you back to?

My Little Angel offers a bracelet and charm selection specially designed for children. Compatible with the Pandora range, you are sure to find a charm to suit any occassion or personality.  Or, if you are after something a little bit daring, check out the Pirouette Petti Couture range with some gorgeous Pettiskirts which will have your little princess twirling around and around all day.

ERGObaby Carrier: Freedom and Comfort 10% off + FREE Express Postage

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

When Miss N was just under a year old, I was given an ERGObaby carrier to try. To be honest, I was a little hesitant as I had tried several carriers already, and had some issues with back and shoulder pain.

I slipped the ERGO on and all that changed: no back pain, no shoulder pain – instead I had one content little girl. I even did a number of chores *without* waiting for the babes to have their afternoon nap! Instantly I was an ERGObaby convert.

Since then I have learned the back carry too and I’ve found the perfect way to carry Master R (who is 3 and around 18kg) when his little legs tire of walking – it’s great, and much easier to tote than a stroller.

Babes in Arms – www.babesinarms.com.au – is the one stop baby wearing stop for anyone wishing to buy a carrier, including the ERGObaby. The ERGObaby carrier comes in a range of colours with two new colours, Sea Green and Navy, being introduced to the Organics range. As a fan of red, I have my eye on the Cranberry colour as I contemplate converting to the Organic line.

If you are expecting a new addition to the family, or are thinking of gifting an ERGObaby to a friend with a newborn, be sure to pick up a new ERGO Heart to Heart insert which allows you to carry your newborn in the tummy-to-tummy position. The Heart to Heart Insert supports infants in the vertical position, recently determined to be ideal for protecting baby’s developing hips and spine. It can be used from newborn to 6 months of age, and is available in standard and Organic models.

Until 31 December 2009, almost all of the ERGObaby carriers are on sale at Babes in Arms, with at least 10% taken off their regular price. You’ll also receive free Australia-wide Express Postage with the purchase of any ERGObaby Carrier.

Prices quoted below are valid (as above) until 31 December 2009 only.

1. Heart to Heart Natural Insert $35.00
2. ERGObaby Carrier Organic Sea Green $209.00
3. ERGObaby Carrier Organic Navy $209.00
4. ERGObaby Carrier Organic Cranberry Was $209.00 Now $188.10
5. ERGObaby Carrier ERGO Sport Was $165.00 Now $149.00
6. ERGO Front pouch Black $35.00
7. ERGO Doll Carrier, Galaxy Grey $42.00

Babes in Arms ship Australia wide using Australia Post.  Orders valued less than $30, cost $13 Express Post Shipping or $6.50 Regular Post Shipping within Australia.  Orders valued between $30 and $50 cost $11 Express Post Shipping or $4 Regular Post Shipping within Australia.  All orders over $50 are shipped via Express Post for FREE.  For full shipping details, including International Orders, see here.

15% off the New ERGObaby Carrier ‘Sport’ + FREE Express Postage + FREE BabyLegs

Today’s post written by Angela

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

I brought you news of the new ERGObaby Carrier ‘Sport’ model landing in Australia recently, and now I have even more fab news on this new edition babywearing icon:

Babes in Arms – www.babesinarms.com.au – are offering KidStyleFile readers 15% off the ERGObaby Carrier ‘Sport’, PLUS Free Express Postage (rrp $12.40) PLUS a FREE pair of unisex BabyLegs (rrp $16.50) until 10 July 2009.

To redeem this offer phone 1300 725 276 (between 9am-5pm weekdays) to place your order, and mention the KidStyleFile to automatically receive your 15% off discount, FREE postage and FREE Babylegs.

Offering multi-carry (back, front or hip) functionality to Mums and Dads for babies from birth (with optional insert) to pre-school age, the ergonomic design of the ERGObaby Carrier supports a correct sitting position for baby’s physical development and eliminates compression on baby’s spine. ERGObaby Carriers also have a long lifespan, catering for your offspring up to 18kgs, and offering continued support when a baby sling or front carrier is no longer comfortable, and being lighter, and more secure, than a hard-frame baby backpack.

The ERGObaby ‘Sport’ features a detachable sleeping hood, a split at the back for better ventilation, and a 65% cotton/35% polyester blend fabric which effectively wicks moisture away, making it cooler than the standard 100% cotton carrier, and over 20% lighter.

The new ERGObaby Sport was also designed for larger people in mind, especially tall dads who sometimes had a hard time fitting into the regular carrier. In comparison with the standard carrier, the shoulder straps are 4″ longer and the waist belt is 5″ longer as well as being slightly wider.

Babes in Arms/ERGObaby are a sponsor of the 2009 KidStyleFile Annual Reader Survey: complete the survey and go into the draw to win 1 of 8 prize packs, including an ERGObaby Sport Carrier.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

The benefits of baby-wearing are now well understood – for starters, try a more settled, healthy baby that sleeps better and so happier, more well-rested parents; no small benefit!  – and the ERGObaby Carriers are one of the best baby carriers on the market.

Offering multi-carry (back, front or hip) functionality to Mums and Dads for babies from birth (with optional insert) to pre-school age, the ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for baby’s physical development and eliminates compression on baby’s spine. ERGObaby Carriers also have a long lifespan, catering for your offspring up to 18kgs, and offering continued support when a baby sling or front carrier is no longer comfortable, and being lighter, and more secure, than a hard-frame baby backpack.

ERGObaby have just released the new ERGObaby ‘Sport’ model into the Australian market, and I’m pleased to introduce you to it today.

So what’s the difference between the standard ERGObaby Carrier, and the ‘Sport’ model?  Well, the ‘ERGO Sport’ shares the same unique features as the standard ERGObaby Carrier range; the ergonomic design, 3 different carrying positions, and the versatility of carrying from birth (with infant insert) to preschooler.

The main differences include a detachable sleeping hood, a split at the back for better ventilation, and a 65% cotton/35% polyester blend fabric which effectively wicks moisture away, making it cooler than the standard 100% cotton carrier, and over 20% lighter.

The new ERGObaby Sport was also designed for larger people in mind, especially tall dads who sometimes had a hard time fitting into the regular carrier. In comparison with the standard carrier, the shoulder straps are 4″ longer and the waist belt is 5″ longer as well as being slightly wider.

Finally – and this one is the clincher – the ERGObaby Carrier ‘Sport’ model is $10.00 LESS than the standard ERGO carrier range (!!) coming in at $165.00.

If you are interested in seeing the ERGObaby Carrier ‘Sport’ model in action, you can catch it, and it’s sibling the ERGObaby Carrier Standard model, at the BUBS Baby & Kids Shop stand (No.J7) at the Parents, Baby and Kids (PBC) Expo in Rosehill, Sydney, from 15-17 May 2009.

If you make your purchase at the Expo, you’ll score a 20% discount on both models – Standard ERGObaby Carrier RRP: $175 EXPO Special:$140, ERGObaby Carrier Sport RRP: $165 EXPO Special: $132.

The cost of admission to the PBC Expo is $16/$12 concession (kids under 14 free), but you needn’t part with a penny: click here to print out your free multi-day ticket!

The dates for the Expo are:

  • Friday 15 to Sunday 17 May 2009

Opening Times:

  • Friday 10am – 4pm (last admission 3pm)
  • Saturday and Sunday 10am – 5pm (last admission 4pm)

KidStyleFile Road Test Review: ERGO Baby Doll Carrier

Posted: December 9th, 2008

Today Nerida road-tests the ERGO Doll Carrier for you. This is a great product for baby-wearing families with older kids who want to be just like Mum and Dad. Read on…

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

ERGO Baby Doll Carrier

Cost $42.00

Where to Buy

The ERGO Baby Doll Carrier can be purchased from Babes in Arms – www.babesinarms.com.au

Special Offers

  1. Postage is free when you purchase an ERGO Doll Carrier with a Baby Carrier from Babes in Arms.
  2. Babes in Arms currently have a range of special offers running on full-size ERGO carriers.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Review

The ERGO Baby Doll Carrier is a replica of the hugely popular ERGO Baby Carrier, designed for “all those ERGO-babies who have grown up and would like to carry around baby dolls of their own”.

The product is designed for children from 2 to 4 years old, and looks exactly like the ERGO Baby Carrier but in a smaller child friendly size.

The doll carrier is made from a tough cotton canvas and can be machine washed and dried. It is available in a Hawaiian print with cranberry accents, and comes nicely boxed.

On receiving the carrier, my almost 3 year old daughter was a little bit skeptical that it would be something fun to play with but once we found an appropriate doll, and put it on her back, she was quite delighted and wanted to keep in on most of the afternoon (how is that for comfortable doll carrying!)

She is quite familiar with baby wearing – her cousin is carried around in something similar, so this made the product more interesting for her. It was easy for her to  put on herself once we showed her how and she quite liked fastening and undoing the front buckle on her own.

Kat’s daughter Charlotte also tested the carrier, and she preferred to wear it on her front. Having both front and back wearing options is a big plus.

Pros

Little children love role playing and this is something a little different from a doll pram. If my 6 month son was carried around in one as a newborn, it would have helped in those difficult early months of having a newborn and a toddler when the toddler is just becoming familiar with having another child in the house. As a gift, it could be bought in conjunction with an ERGO carrier if there is an older sibling in the household.

Cons

Only available in one fabric colour choice.

20% off Peanut Shell Microfleece Sling: Wear Your Baby in Style for Less + Competition to Enter

Posted: July 4th, 2008

Have you heard about the benefits of baby-wearing? A more settled, healthy baby that sleeps better and so a happier, more well-rested mama are just the start of the benefits.

The Peanut Shell sling is billed as the ultimate functional, funky, fun baby carrier, and it’s easy to see why: it is suitable from birth up to 16kgs, it’s compact, there are no straps, clips, belts or adjustments necessary, making the Peanut Shell fuss-free and easy to use.

The Peanut Shell pouch can be used in a variety of positions including:

- cradle (suitable for newborn breastfeeding)
- tummy-to-tummy
- kangaroo carry (upright facing out)
- hip carry
- back carry

The Peanut Shell is beautifully made in a variety of fabrics to suit different climates – from microfleece to stretch cotton – and the colours and prints are just gorgeous!

To celebrate winter baby-wearing, Babes in Arms – www.babesinarms.com.au - is offering 20% off microfleece Peanut Shells. (No code is needed; prices are already reduced on the site. Offer ends July 31).

Babes in Arms also offer FREE postage within Australia on all baby carriers and accessories on their site.

You can choose from single layer or reversible varieties of Peanut Shell. What’s the difference?

Single layer microfleece is a fabulously luscious lightweight version of fleece that mimics the feel of Cashmere (without the fussiness of care or handling), and is super soft on your baby’s sensitive skin. It feels warmer to the touch than a cotton, but is a breathable fabric and so is suitable for year-round use.

The reversible microfleece sling features one layer of fabric printed a different color on each side for fashion conscious mamas.

Both are just perfect to banish the winter chills.

These are unbelievably cool and they also minimise the risk of ted being left behind at the supermarket!

Beside the Peanut Shell, Babes in Arms also sells, ERGO baby carriers, Hug-a-Bub Slings, and Maya Wrap Baby Slings, so there’s something for everyone, and for every baby-wearing need.

My Munchkin Home
Does your kid’s room need updating? Or even better, are you expecting a new baby and need ideas for the nursery? Well there’s a goldmine of ideas at My Munchkin Home – www.mymunchkinhome.com.au.

Perfect for kids’ bedroom doors (or walls or even windows) are the personalised name decals – after all, don’t all kids love to have their name on their bedroom door? Or you could combine the name with one of the big wall decals, like the bunting or the circus tent.

The ‘scatter’ decals, such as the butterflies and the fighter jets are also a brilliant idea, because not only do they look fantastic, but the kids can help decorate the room with them too. Let your (and their) imagination run wild!

My friend Marisa is expecting her first baby at the start of August and she has decorated her nursery with the completely adorable dancing elephants in mint green (so no clues for me as to the sex of her baby, hmph) and the ‘sweet dreams’ decal – so, so cute!

Kinder Kaboodle
It’s a well known fact that we at KSF LOVE Penny Scallan. Well, who doesn’t?!

Luckily for us, Kinder Kaboodle www.kinderkaboodle.com.au have a plentiful supply of Penny Scallan for us to drool over – lunch bags, art smocks, hats, library bags, gumboots… ooh, I could go on and on and ON, but instead I’ll stop teasing you and give you a link straight to Kinder Kaboodle’s massive Penny Scallan range.

In actual fact, there is so much to choose from and such a huge variety of brands at Kinder Kaboodle that I could never hope to do it all justice.

Everything your kid could possibly need for kinder or school is there, and it’s all gorgeous and stylish and practical, and oh: I want it all!

Just to draw your attention to a couple of products that made me giggle though, have a look at the Western Chief umbrella and backpack pictured below – wouldn’t that just get you grinning at the start of every day?

And the inflatable Fruity Faces fruit holders are just so cool. Don’t be fooled into thinking they’re only for kids either – one of my former colleagues used to frequently bring a banana to work safely encased in its Fruity Faces case. Made for some hilarious conversations around the lunch table, let me tell you!

Get yourself 15% off store-wide at Kinder Kaboodle with the My Child or Australia Parents magazine codes. Find out more here.

Babes In Arms
Baby wearing is becoming a big thing in our part of the world nowadays. Keeping your baby close to your chest is known to help soothe fussy, colicky babies, and it makes older babies and toddlers feel more secure and content. Besides which, it’s just so darn convenient for the parents! Your bub is snugly hugged in to you and both your hands are free to get on with what you need to do.

Babes In Arms - www.babesinarms.com.au – carry some of the best names in baby carriers and slings on the planet.

As Angela pointed out earlier in the week, the ERGO is very much in favour in Hollywood at the moment, and when you look at the design features it’s easy to see why. It can be worn on your front, your hip or your back, can take premmies right through to hefty 18kg toddlers and is designed to support the baby’s physical development and make the baby feel lighter for the parent!

And if that wasn’t enough to pursuade you, Babes In Arms have 10% off the ERGO until the 31st of May!

Another option for baby wearing is a sling, and the Peanut Shell is one of the funkiest out there. With no fewer than seventeen colour/print options you’ll be spoilt for choice, and the simple design is a breeze to use. The other great thing about a sling is that it’s easy to breastfeed discretely in public while wearing one!

Babes In Arms also stock the ever-popular Hug-a-Bub and the Maya wrap, plus the innovative reversible Papoose coat (see pic below) and the extremely nifty Little Monkey Mirror! And one final note – Babes In Arms include free Express Post delivery with all items!

5 Little Monkeys
5 Little Monkeys – www.5littlemonkeys.com.au – is always a favourite of mine, but that goes double for when we’re talking about decor for kids’ rooms. The products here are great – funky, a bit different, well designed and cater to a wide range of tastes.

To start with, have a look at the big range of the Cocoon Couture beanbags. I love them!!

Not only do they look great, but the covers are machine washable while the beans stay intact in their internal safety lining, which means they will keep on looking great.

Other gorgeous products here are the Tiger Tribe mobiles for the nursery – again, a big range to choose from but I love the cupcakes (pictured below) for a little girl.

Tiger Tribe also have rather gorgeous magnets, just the thing for sticking your little darling’s artwork to the fridge.

And lastly, the IKABOO Mini-Glow nightlights will bring a smile to anyone’s face :-D especially as they’re discounted too!

5 Little Monkeys are offering 20% off EVERYTHING (including sale items) PLUS a FREE pressie exclusively for KidStyleFile readers, until Monday 26 May, so race on over!! Enter KSF5LM at checkout to receive this incredible discount.

ERGO offers continued support when a baby sling or front carrier is no longer comfortable. It is lighter and more secure than a hard-frame baby back-pack. The ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for baby’s physical development and eliminates compression on baby’s spine – very reassuring information!

Now, I haven’t actually used the ERGO – having twins, I was kind of stumped on the carrier front. If I had known about the ERGO baby carrier back then, oh how much easier my life would have been: the ERGO is so multi-functional, you can actually wear one on each side to accommodate two bebes!!

So many of my mama friends have used the ERGO (and Keri Russell seems to wear hers constantly!! Every time I head on over to Celebrity Baby Blog, there she is, wearing her ERGO!), and they extol the virtues constantly, the comfort factor and the adaptability of the ERGO being the positive comments that I hear again and again.

The ERGO comes in Black, Camel, Cranberry, Indigo and Organic Denim. Prices start at $143.10, and the full range of product accessories (ERGO infant insert, suck pads, tote bag, front puoch, back packs, waist extender and papoose coat) are also available.

Beside the ERGO, Babes in Arms also sells, Hug-a-Bub Slings, Maya Wrap Baby Slings, and Peanut Shell Baby Carriers, so there’s something for everyone, and for every baby-wearing need.

Please note: To carry baby from newborn to 4 months old, an ERGO Infant Insert is needed. Once your baby has developed good head control, the Infant Insert is no longer needed and baby may then be placed in the front carry position. Once the baby has developed torso control, usually around 5 months old, she or he may be placed in either the hip or back carry position.
