Don’t little people play hard?! Keeping up the H2O to their bodies is a big part of keeping them happy and healthy throughout the year. As such, a great drink bottle that will stay the distance and withstand constant use is a must.

If you are on the hunt for one for 2011, below is a round up of our top twelve drink bottle picks here at KidStyleFile. They are all BPA free and easy to use, they are all durable and made to last and of course each one is totally stylish. In a beautiful array of designs, colours and sizes, you are bound to find the perfect match for your little person.

My top picks from this cream of the crop bunch are:

  • Get set with ‘water for the week’ with the Reduce Drink Bottle Packs. This pack of five 290ml drink bottles come with a storage tray designed to sit neatly in your fridge. You could fill these reusable bottles at the start of each week, making it convenient to grab a bottle each day and go. Or refill on a daily basis for your entire family.
  • The new Vapur Drink Bottles are a fantastic take on traditional rigid drink bottles. When full these reusable bottles stand upright, but because they are flexible, when they are empty they can be folded or flattened to easily fit into pockets, purses or packs. Made in the US, Vapur drink bottles were recently voted the 2010 FPA Silver Award for Sustainability & Environmental Achievement. They come with a carabiner, to attach on to school backpacks or prams, and they also have a spot to write your child’s name. Easy to wash by hand or in the dishwasher, at $10.00 they are a really affordable drink bottle option.
  • For a personalised drink bottle you can’t go past the range from Stuck On You. Made from quality stainless steel these drink bottles are BPA free, a great size at 500ml, and there are a whopping 12 different designs to choose from.

……………………………………………………………………

My focus this week is preparing not just my son, but myself as Master R embarks on his very first day at preschool in the first week of February. He is excited. I am (quietly) nervous and attempting to busy myself with preparations to make sure I am he is ready.  Of course I need to pick out the perfect bag, lunch box, water bottle….and a few little knicknacks for rewards and the like to reinforce his ‘big boy’ behaviours on the day. Metro Mum – www.metromum.com.au has everything I need to help the big day go off without a hitch.

First on my list is the Cubeo.  What a brilliant idea! This little product provides children with a visual reminder of what they need to do each morning, what to pack in their bag, what chores to do…well whatever you want them to remember really with 80 reusable stickers which features a range of items and extracurricular activities. It comes in 4 different colours to suit any child (I think green for us!) and is the right size for little hands.  The Cubeo is perfect for developing independent organisation skills and can be easily clipped onto a schoolbag.

A drink bottle is an essential piece of kit, and I am a big fan of the Fashion Hydration Thermos range, having originally purchased a bottle a few years back prior to their Australian arrival (and it’s still going strong!).

Both preschool and school can be tiring. Our kidlets little bodies require refuelling during the day to ensure that they can continue to concentrate, learn and have fun. Essential to every school day is a well packed lunch which isn’t crushed or too warm. Metro Mum has a range of lunch boxes to suit every budget and need.  You could choose one of the funky Thermos insulated lunch bags with soccer balls or butterflies, or for major cuteness factor, a BusyBee Friends “Quackie” Duck Lunch Bag.

Metro Mum are currently having a New Year Sale with up to 70% off selected brands, including Allerhand, Foogo Thermos, Isoki, Trunki, Paper Eskimo, Mini Monkey and more, while stocks last. What else is new at Metro Mum? Check out the delightful new Dandelion range which is made from organic, natural and recycled materials: very cool gear! Also, you can win stuff! Swing by and throw your hat in the ring for the prizes below.

“Where did you get that?” are five words that are sure to make our pride swell as we share the origins of our little ones newest outfit.

With that in mind, Toni and Melony of Where Did You Get That? – www.wheredidyougetthat.com.au - have developed their own little haven of select pieces and labels that are each sure to draw oohs and ahhs from your friends and strangers alike.

Always on the look out for a stylish addition to my daughter’s wardrobe, I have been dazzled by the Chic by Sha Pettiskirts which have just arrived at Where Did You Get That? and are suitable for babies right up to tweens! Vintage lace, soft chiffon and satin – oh my!

For a summer chill out by the beach or pool, check out the Girls 4 Sport swimwear range and the new ‘skort’ style swim bottoms (short skirt with built in briefs). The tested fabrics are rated at the maximum of SPF 50+ and block at least 98% of UVA/UVB rays and Chlorine resistant. Or, for cute little one-piece bathers, the new Stella Cove line up is delightful.

Finding canvas shoes for summer that are funky yet functional can be a real issue as summer approaches – enter the new season Morgan and Milo shoes which are now available in larger sizes (7.5-13).  The flame versions will ensure your poppet speeds along, or the Mary Janes is sure to make your daughter ‘sparkle’.

Are you looking at a Crazy Fort to add to the toy collection this Christmas? The  sturdy life sized construction set will entertain your kids for hours on end.  Teamed with the Crazy Fort Lights they can enclose it totally with a blanket and have their own little camp out! But be quick, stock is limited.

One of my best purchases this year has been my Foogo straw bottles, and recently the funtainers for their colorful patterns.  They keep the kidlets water cool right through the day, even when I’ve left them in the car for an hour or two! As well as stocking them, Where Did You Get That?, are now also stocking the replacement straws which guarantees ongoing use of your Foogo.

If you are interested in bargains check out the SALE section where you will find 50% off all winter and last summer fashion.  Where Did You Get That? have also added a new category: the “Grand 40% OFF SALE” where you will pick up bargains from Aden & Anais, Bella Tunno – including laminated aprons, binkers etc, some Djeco mobiles, and zid zid belts and bags.

A big attraction for me is the Super Swimwear Sale with up to 80% off last season’s styles while stocks last only!! Get your Floaties on and swim on over!

1. Crazy Forts – Construction Toy $89.95 & Crazy Fort Lights $39.95
2. Chic by Sha Pettiskirts – Black Satin $90.00
