If you already have a child then you’ll know all about how wonderful one piece suits are for babies, but if you are expecting your first little one then take it from me: your new bundle will not want to wear anything but one piece suits (onesies) for at least the first three months, and then will wear them for a good portion of the time for the remainder of his or her first year.

The thing about onesies is that they’re comfortable for babies – no constricting waistbands or harsh fabrics – and easy for parents, as they all offer prompt access to the nappy and are easy to put on and remove. Everyone’s happy!

With my second baby on the way, I’ve learned my lesson from the first time around. Little pairs of jeans and hoodies are all very cute and everything, but tiny newborn babies just aren’t suited to wearing that kind of gear. If organic cotton had been on the scene when my babes were small I would have bought it in truckloads – it just doesn’t seem right to put anything but the purest fabrics next to a newborns perfect, delicate skin.
