Chic Kids Great Stocktake Sale: 15% off store-wide + Gift With Purchase for Every KSF Reader!

Posted: June 15th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

………………………………………………………………………………………………

When I was a little girl, there was very little I enjoyed more than dressing up and spending hours in my own little fantasy world.  It didn’t matter whether I was a princess or a mermaid, a fairy or a ballerina, I loved dress up costumes and the way they could transfer my world into a fairy tale.

And I don’t for one moment think I’m alone in this – I think most little girls (and many little boys!) love to dress up, and Denise at Chic Kids – www.chickids.com.au – has cottoned on to this.  She stocks a lovely range of dress up outfits including fairies, mermaids, tutus and ballet slippers, even pirates, at extremely competitive prices.  (They’re mostly in the Playtime section at Chic Kids, but also check out the Princess Ratbag pettiskirts for fairy/ballerina play, as well as the party circuit).

Now is a great time to stock up on dress ups too: not only are the school holidays rapidly approaching (and we all know how vital it is to have rainy day play options up our sleeves, especially at this time of year), but Denise is giving KidStyleFile readers 15% off store-wide!  The offer finishes at midnight 21 June 2009, and the code is ‘CHICKIDS’.  Grab a few outfits at this discount!!

As well as that, all orders will receive a Star & Rose ‘Touch of Spice’ Votive Candle in Vanilla Pod fragrance, but only while stocks last so make sure you get in quickly.  These beautiful candles (see no. 2 in the image collage below) are perfect for helping busy mums maintain their serenity surrounded by shrieking children during the term break!

While you’re at Chic Kids, let’s have a look at what else you might be able to snap up using your 15% discount.

For starters, I don’t know of any household who has enough Kiddysacs on hand.  Perfect for everything from swimming (their swimbags have a waterproof lining – brilliant) to libary bags, toy storage, and everything in between, these inexpensive, eye-catching and practical bags are fabulous to have around.

Lastly, the 15% off applies to the Delicious Discounts sale section too, and oh my goodness will you find some bargains in there!  Snap up Bebe by Minihaha, Eternal Creation, Baobab, Le Bon and many more top brands at bargain basement prices, AND take an additional 15% off too! If that’s not enough to put a smile on your dial then I don’t know what is :)

Take an extra 15% off all prices below using the code ‘CHICKIDS’. Code expires 21 June 2009.

1. Baby Ballet Shoes – Pink and Black, $18.95/pr
2. Star & Rose ‘Touch of Spice’ Votive Candle in Vanilla Pod fragrance, FREE with all KSF purchases while stocks last
3. Fairy Rainbow Dress, $32.95

School’s In: Check the Coolest Library Bags in the Playground

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Well, school’s well and truly in around the country now, but as the kiddlies start bringing home library books, artwork and more, you never know when you might just “need” a cool new update, or replacement item.

These beautiful, reusable and environmentally sustainable library bag options are just the thing if you’re in the market – so much better that lugging the books around in last week’s plastic bag from Woollies – check them out!

Kiddysac make fabulous library/swim bags in two sizes (large and medium), which feature drawstring tops and adjustable backpack straps.  There’s a huge range of bold colours with striking designs, making them ideal for young kids to remember which bag is theirs (“It’s the blue one with ballet shoes on it”).

You can buy Kiddysac bags at the following stores: Kinder Kaboodle, Little Explorers, and Pastel Pink.

Next let’s look at Envirosax.  Lightweight and small enough to be wadded up into a pocket when not in use, Envirosax are like environmentally friendly, reusable shopping bags.  They’re a great size for library books, especially picture books, and they’re cheap as chips!

You can find a superb range of  Envirosax bags at Pastel Pink.

Now we have Cocoon Couture, my personal favourite.  Featuring beautiful striped fabric and appliqued animal designs, these bags are quirky and totally adorable.  If you buy one of these bags you’ll want to keep it for yourself, rather than handing it over for the kids to use!

Get your Cocoon Couture bags from Urban Child, ShopHouse, Pastel Pink, Kinder Kaboodle and 5 Little Monkeys.

And may I just remind you to always check the KidStyleFile ‘All Current Deals’ page before making a purchase, just to make sure you’re getting yourself the best possible deal? ;)

Here are some of the cool library bags on offer:

Please check individual sites for postage details.

Little Explorers: Helping you get out and about in style this summer with hot products, FREE tips and 10% off store-wide

Posted: November 8th, 2008

Today’s post written by Miki.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Now that the weather is warming up, I cannot wait to get to the beach!  It’ll be my boy’s first summer where he’s old enough to really enjoy the water and I want to make the most of it.

However, I do worry about his safety around the water and his delicate skin, which is why I’m thrilled to have found Little Explorers – www.littleexplorers.com.au.

With a huge range of gear for ‘out and about’ families including swimwear, bags and travel accessories to name but a few of their categories, I was able to find everything we’ll need for aquatic summer fun and hassle-free travel.

First of all, I do adore the Cuddlefish range – 50+ UV protective fabric and in-built removable floats, these suits also look adorable!  I love how you can just put them on the kids and you’re good to go, no need to worry about floaties every time they want to go back in the water!  I’m also very impressed with the prices on Cuddlefish at Little Explorers; they’re the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere!

There’s a heap of other cool swimwear for girls and boys, plus towels and swim accessories from hot brands like 2 Chillis, Loose Boots, SwimTrainer and more – and don’t miss the Kiddysac Swim Bags which are hot property. You’re good to go!

If you’re going away this summer, make sure you pay a visit to the Travel section of the site for some brilliant products designed to take the stress out of travel with children.  The LittleLife Compact Travel Bed is one such example – weighing well under 1kg, it’s an ideal bed for babies when you’re not at home, and it’s really well priced!  Likewise the 2-in-1 Harness Buddies and the Squidy Neck Pillows are really neat for travel – one stops your toddler from making a bid for freedom where it’s not safe to do so, and the other will reduce whinging on long car or plane journeys!

Also check out the Sale section for some brilliant bargains from designers like Sigg, MacPac, Yoko Ono, 2 Chillis, Cuddlefish, and the list goes on.

KSFers, you’ll be thrilled about this piece of information: until 22 November you can get 10% off at Little Explorers store-wide!  Given that most of the items are already below recommended retail prices, you’re going to scoop some brilliant savings here.  Enter ‘KSF’ at checkout to redeem your extra 10% discount.

There’s a super great range to choose from, as Little Explorers stocks products from Sigg, Kipiis, Danish By Design, Baby Banz, Akapipik, GR8X, MacPac, Cuddlefish, Goldbug, 2 Chillis, Zoggs, Outlook, Mr Wolf, Sitro Group, Austin, Kiddysac, Lima Bean, Freds, LittleLife, Dumpling Dynasty, Be, Annabel Trends and Loose Boots.

Now that you’ve stocked up on all the essentials for getting out and about with the kids this summer, you may be wondering where to take them.  Well don’t worry, Little Explorers can help with that too!  Have a look at their FREE articles on taking the kids outdoors and travelling, and search through their directory of fun, exciting, kid-friendly places to go.

Now we’re all set and ready to go! I’ll see you at the beach ;)

Out and About with Haggus and Stookles: In the car, at the park, on a holiday…you’ll be happy anywhere!

Posted: October 15th, 2008

Here’s some names you won’t forget: Haggus and Stookles – www.haggusandstookles.com.au.

Named for the nicknames H&S’s owners, Donna and Andrea’s kids gave to their younger siblings, Haggus and Stookles equip you to handle every outing with your baby or kids, from a trip to the local park, to a multi-country overseas expedition. You will be oh-so-glad you’ve met them: they will absolutely revolutionise and improve your life!

Donna and Andrea joke that Haggus and Stookles began with ‘a poo in the park’: kids needing to go the toilet at a park with no toilets – who hasn’t been caught out that way when toilet training kids?

Donna and Andrea saw a need for good quality and functional products to handle these sorts of situations, and many others, that parents encounter every day whilst experiencing life with kids. They then searched far and wide for the best products to help make your life easier and more enjoyable when you are out and about with the little ones.

With shopping categories like ‘In the car’, ‘For the pram’, ‘Eating out’, ‘Play on the go’,  Naptime, For bums, ‘Packing for travel’, ‘Allergy Traveller’, and ‘For bums’ (my favourite! I’ll tell you why in a minute!), and an incredible range of top quality products from — hope you’re ready! — 4 My Earth, Aden & Anais, Adore-A-View, Alex Toys, Allergy free passports, Amadeus, Annabel Karmel, Baa Baa Blind, Baby Mel, Baby Nation, Baby Sherpa, Baby U, Bags & Boxes, Bazoongi Kids, Bella Tunno, Boo Boo Buddy, Brolly Sheets, Bubbaroo, Dad Gear, Danish by Design, Design Go, Djeco, Dripstik, Drop Buddy, Easyfeed, Ellaroo, Envirotrend, Fit & Fresh, Fridge to Go, Goldbug, Goober Baby, High Road, Hurphy Durphy, Infantino, Irony Homewares, Kaboodle Bags, Kiddysac, KidsAlert, Kindy Kamper, Kozyepi, Lalapanzi, Lollipop Monkey, Longitude 151, Made by Angie, Made by Mums, Medibuddy, Melissa & Doug, Moochie-Moo, Munchee Mug, My Little Seat, myBagTag, Nest, Oobi, Pigeon, Playgro, Pure Wipes, SIGG, Snug as a Bug, Stuffit, Tantrums, The Mummy Hook, Thermos Foogo, Vanchi, and Woobee, you’ll be set and ready for anything!

Ok, so why is ‘For Bums’ my favourite category? Well, it contains the Potette Travel Potty.

This little item has been a life-saver on many occasions I cannot count. One memorable incident where it came in handy was on a plane, just before take-off, when the on-board toilets were closed, and the seat belt lights were one. Cue a little voice from one of my 2 year olds: “Mummy, I need to do a wee”. Never fear, I whipped out my trusty travel potty, with it’s special liner fitted, and saved the day (and the plane seat!)

This little wonder folds flat, is small enought to fit anywhere – a small handbag, for instance, will save your bacon through an array of toilet emergency locations, and is extremely cheap to boot. This is definitely one for you out-with-kids survival kit!

Another great little innovation is the Design Go Mosquito Bite Reliever. Drug free and effective, add it to your first aid kit; it is sure to come in handy over the summer months.

Fit & Fresh lunch boxes are an essential when you’re on the road, or even for school days, as they keep food nice and cool for 6 hours. No more spoiled yoghurt at lunch!

Sleeping is a major issue, whether at home, daycare, or travelling, and Haggus and Stookles has the perfect solutions.

For little babes, you can’t go past super-stylish Lalapanzi Collapsible Moses Basket. For bigger kids, the Kindy Kamper Day Bed is just the thing. Fully featured with bottom blanket, top sheet, pillow and removable top blanket, it rolls up into a portable swag. (Miki reports it goes perfectly in a portacot, and also uses hers for her son at daycare.)

You’ll also need a picnic rug for outdoor expeditions. The super-luxe Woobee Large Blanket is the way to go! With weather-proof backing, and the snuggliest top layer, it’s great as a picnic rug, a tummy-time blankie, or pram snug.

My super cheap and utterly gorgeous pick of the day award goes to the Envirotrend EnviroShopper bags that Haggus and Stookles are stocking.  They are enviro-kind, incredibly stylish (choose from 4 beautiful designs) and, at just $4.25 each, are an absolute STEAL!

Speaking of steals, have a look at the great range of free activities for kids you can download from Haggus and Stookles, including colouring in pages, dot to dots, travel games and a fantastic travel diary for when you are on holidays. Also, make sure you check out Haggus and Stookles’ Tips for on the Go: there is a wealth of knowledge there on being out and about with the kids in the car, on holidays, international and plane travel and for general outings to the park, shops, toilet training when out and much more!

Posted: May 29th, 2008

Looking for backpacks, bags, tags, drink bottles, sleeping gear, lunch bags and snack keepers, smocks and aprons, sun-hats, rain gear, hair accessories, dress-ups, creative play solutions, funky toys and gifts, and the coolest accessories??

Search no longer: it’s all here at Kinder Kaboodle – www.kinderkaboodle.com.au!

A concept store especially for the pre-schooler, school age and creche-going child, whether you need backpacks and bags, drink bottles, sun-wear, rain-wear, art-ware or sleepover supplies, Kinder Kaboodle is the place for you.

With an incredible range across brands including Alex & Charli, Bazoongi Kids, Bestever, Bobble Art, Boys Don’t Wear Bows, Charlie and Lola, Chelona, Chick Pea, Cocoon Couture, Crocodile Creek, Cupcakes Jewellery, Feef , Fruity Faces, Goldfish Gifts, Happy Guru, Hotbods, Jam Industries, Kiddysac, Kids Cold Packs, Little Chipipi, Little Swish, Milestone Press, Mini Rhubarb, Mini Whisk, 4 My Earth, Oscar Blue, Penny Scallan, Rolly Poly Kids, Rush, Smelly Welly, Tatiri, The Bag Tag Studio, Vintage Kid, Western Chief, and Zebra Crossing Club there is something for every taste and need.

No more rushing around different places looking, Kinder Kaboodle is *the* source!

The question here is not what to buy, but what *not* to buy!! Last week I purchased some new Feef smocks, Alex & Charli drink bottles, and extra Starfish Bump Buddy (can’t have too many of these!!), and I just noticed these socks, which I think we maybe can’t live without!!

I must say that Bernice at Kinder K really goes all out with her gift wrapping; it’s gorgeous! Also, she included a very sweet little gift with the order. Make a purchase and you’ll get one too :)

To get 15% off the purchase price store-wide pick up a copy of My Child or Australian Parents magazine and access the special discount code.

(Not near a newsagent? Leave a comment on this post, or email me, and I’ll send you the code.)

Note 2 Dec 2009: this code is now expired.

As the rain pitter-pats outside my window, my first pick of the day is the Penny Scallan rainwear, just landed at Kinder Kaboodle.

penny-scallan-rainwear.jpg

The new Penny Scallan raincoats ($49.95) are so soft to touch (not stiff like as per usual ‘plastic’ raincoats situation) and look so groovy! Match them with the new Penny Scallan Boy Stripe and and Penny Scallan Girl Stripe Gumboots ($29.95 per pair) for wet-weather readiness.

Also, I’m loving the new Penny Scallan Pop-up Umbrellas ($19.95), which fold down to a compact 23cm – ideal for popping in school bags.

Other things on the shopping list today:

kinder-kaboodle-hot-picks.jpg

(Beautiful, huh? Colours make me feel good!!)

I can’t let today’s post go by without mentioning the Feef smocks ($34.95) which I deem to be the best smocks in existence. I know this from experience; we have literally 10 different kinds, and the Feef smocks are the only ones that don’t soak through. They are a made from a thick, but soft, coated fabric that really protects clothes; no more Napisan-ing after playgroup!

If you’re in the market for a super-cool lunch bag for your little one, consider the Bestever Lunch Bags ($29.95 $23.95) How cool is this Croc? also available in Puppy Dog and Zebra.

For drink bottles, you can’t go past Alex & Charli’s Drink Bottles ($14.95) – goodness knows I didn’t ;)

A beautiful new addition to Kinder Kaboodle’s super range of bags are the Chickpea range of products. How gorgeous are these Chickpea Library Bags ($25.95) with their divine vintage-retro prints?

If you are looking for solid colour bags, I highly commend the Kiddysac bags. We have been using our bags for 4 months now and they still look new!!

To ensure your child’s bag doesn’t get lost, consider attaching a Personalised Bag Tag (only $9.95 including postage!) from The Bag Tag Studio. Bernice at Kinder Kaboodle will take your order, and send it to The Bag Tag Studio, who will create your tags and sends it direct to you on Bernice’s behalf to speed up the delivery process. These tags are great quality and come in a wide range of gorgeous styles.

Other things I’m eyeing off are the new cooking products from Mini Whisk (starting from $15.95), the super-cute Bestever bag accessories, $8.95, (pictured above in Bird and Dog, and also available in Sheep and Lion) and the My School Days Record Book ($34.95) from Milestone Press.

Kinder Kaboodle charge $6.00 for parcels up to 500gms and $9.00 for parcels 501gms-3kg, Australia wide. Orders over 3kg will display the charge at checkout. Orders over $120 are shipped free!

International shipping is available. Contact Bernice at Kinder Kaboodle for a fast and friendly quote.

Bag a bargain: Kiddysac – the perfect gift for Easter and beyond. Get 10% off at Kinder Kaboodle

Posted: March 14th, 2008

My kids started pre-school recently, and I bought them new lunch boxes with configurable compartments, and insulated lunch bags. They also need to take along hats, and a spare set of clothing.

I love the practicality of backpacks, but the only ones we had have a zillion different pockets and zippers, and are really a bit complex for current needs, little fingers, and teachers who may need to grab a change of clothes in a hurry.

I spotted the Kiddysac backpacks a while ago, and they caught my eye with their bold fabric colours, happy character appliqués and the simplicity of their easy-open-and- shut drawstring closures.

imag001.JPG kiddysac-large-pink-princess.jpgimag002.JPGimag022.JPG

Cute, huh? And in real life they are much better even than they look on screen!

They are constructed of a thick, quality gabardine-y drill fabric, that adds a slight retro feel, are lined, have adjustable buckle straps and reinforced stitching at the apex of the straps in anticipation of repeated usage. The drawstring is easy for the kids to open and pull closed, which really makes them feel capable and competent; it’s great to see a product for kids that kids can actually use themselves.

The character patches, in designs such as princess, pirate, cat, crocodile, butterfly, and dinosaur, are a thick appliqué.

I’m not exactly sure how they are applied (heat set?), but I’ve tried hard to pick them off, and they ain’t coming!

These bags are the perfect size (45cmx40cm) for a spare set of clothing plus some extras. I’m thinking that when ‘big school’ starts they will fill the perfect role of library bag. Squashable, washable, and super-cute to boot!

Now I know what lovely quality these bags are, I’m looking towards the smaller variety as ‘wrapping’ for Easter goodies.

The ‘dilly bag’ style resonates with me, as my Nan used to make this style of bag, and they had endless uses to us kids.

I know that after they serve their function as wrapping, they will be perfect for storing small treasures. (I know a menagerie of farm and African animals that would go perfectly in these bags!)

Kiddysac also make pencil cases, shoulder bags, and wall pockets. Prices range from $32.95 for the backpacks (45cmx40cm) to $24.95 for large bags (45cmx40cm), $16.95 for medium bags (27cmx20cm), $12.95 for pencil cases (20cmx16cm), $12.95 for handbags (14cmx10cm + 14cm handle length), and $49.95 for hanging wall pocket storage products (60cmx45cm).
