It seems that my little girls do not like Santa very much this year. When we made a move to take a photo with him Miss M clutched at the pram with both hands, kicked her feet out against me and screamed at the top of her lungs “Nooooo Mummy!”, while Miss E looked like she might actually hit Santa with his own bell. So, it looks like last year’s beautiful smiling photo with Santa will not be replicated this year. With the birth of my three children came the immediate realisation of just how incredibly different all children are. My family has a long-running tradition of holding a Christmas celebration in July. As the mother of two boys with birthdays coming up, I’m having to think hard about what to get them this year.  I loathe buying toys that are played with for five minutes and then cast aside. Ideally I’d like to give them presents that have educational *and* entertainment value: the best of both worlds!
