Sleep Tight, Sleep Chic 2009: Part 2 – Baby and Kids Bedlinen Update

Posted: June 26th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time for more luscious kids bedding – hurrah!  And I think you’ll be pleased to see what I’ve saved for Part II of this post (if you missed Part I, click here).

Starting off today’s field we have Boodalee, in-store now at Ekidna Kids. With striking, eye-catching designs, the Boodalee range features 250 thread count 100% cotton percale, and it’s dyed using a special process to ensure superior colourfastness.  Refreshingly modern and heartwarmingly colourful, this is a range for just about any child and home!

We all love chic homegrown Aussie brand mill&mia, but did you know that they do bed linen as well as their stunning range of clothing?  Yep, they sure do – and it’s as slick as the rest of their range. Starting from $67.50 for a cot duvet or sheet set, there’s a big range of colours and subtle patterns to choose from.

Another seriously stylish Australian brand is Zero+ Designs.  Designed by two mums (one whose background was in retail and the other an interior designer), the range is fresh and modern while incorporating traditional elements – think trucks and butterflies – in a funky new way.  There’s also a truly excellent range of bedding accessories such as cushions, sheet sets and so on.

More homegrown goodness is up next, with sproutdesigns.  Oh my oh my, how I love this brand! There’s a drool-worthy range of hand-screenprinted fabrics and products (all designed and made in Australia of course), and the bedding range has to be seen to be believed.  You should also check out the fabulous selection of room accessories, and for the crafty ones amongst us, you’ll be thrilled to know that sproutdesigns’ fabrics are available by the metre.

The Living Textiles Company has a decent range of products stocked at 9 Months Waiting, and this is an excellent option if you’re after a sweet, traditional design for your nursery.  Once again, this is an Australian-owned company who use only 100% cotton percale, and who rigorously test their products to ensure quality and value for money.

If you want to give your nursery that WOW factor then go for a real investment piece – you’re bound to find a perfect set at Miss Tati & Friends.  Not only is there an enormous selection of cot and single bedding of exceptional quality imported from the US, almost all of it is 40+% off! Miss Tati & Friends also stock a lovely range from Red Plum Linen, another Australian classic.

Lastly but most certainly not leastly is Cot Couture.  An Adelaide-based custom range, Cot Couture is distinctive not only for the spectacular range of fabrics available but also for the fact that the customer can request any combination they like.  Most of the Cot Couture comforters are reversible, meaning that simply flipping over the comforter will create a whole new look.  Ingenious!

There are a couple of special deals running on Cot Couture at the moment: firstly, there’s a sale section on the CC site of ends-of-line fabrics – comforters ordered in these are $125, down from $185. Next, if you want a different fabric, have a look at the range stocked at Chic Mother & Baby as you can take 10% off Cot Couture there using the code ‘VIPJoff’ until June 30.

Cathy at 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – loves babies so much that she has dedicated her entire store to little people from birth up to 12 months, and created a one-stop-shop for all your baby essentials. Cathy has chosen products based on quality and design, and the prices will blow you away: trust me, you will blink at how affordable her stock is!!

Choose from a great range of clothing from Bonds, Marquise, Three Little Trees, Baobab, Lotus Linens and Eternal Creation, and everything you need to give your bub (and you!) a good night’s sleep, including bedlinen, sleeping bags and wraps from Vanchi and Living Textiles.

I’m besotted with the Three Little Trees collection this season. Their Japan-inspired prints manage to be both cute and chic. Hot picks are the Ichi Ni cot linen, the Tokyo onesie, and the Honeysuckle Overalls (I have a pair of these popped away for gifting: they are truly adorable!)

For infant basics I highly recommend Marquise. Makers of the best layette basics for bubs, Marquise products are supersoft and high quality (they wash up beautifully: I know this because Marquise basics were a wardrobe staple for my two children) and the pure colours are perfectly suited to itty bitty babies. The Marquise cotton baby sleeping bags are a great product, as they give warmth, while not overheating your baby, and the open end gives ease of access for quick nappy changes.

The Living Textiles range at 9MW offers a fabulous range of affordable TOG rated sleeping bags, not to mention baby blankets and wraps.

As if the low everyday prices at 9 Months Waiting weren’t enough to tempt you, Cathy at 9 Months Waiting is giving KSF readers a very generous 20% off store-wide (yes, includes products already marked down!!) until 27 June 2009. Use code ‘KSF20′ at checkout to redeem. Spend $100 or more and your order will ship free Australia-wide. Loving your work, Cathy :)

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

With only a couple of months left until my second child arrives, I spent a morning a few days ago sorting through my first son’s newborn things.  As they’re due in opposite seasons I’m not going to get nearly as much use out of his baby clothes as I’d thought, so I’m going to need to supplement them.  Fine by me – any excuse to go shopping for baby clothes!

Naturally, the very first place I headed to was 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – because I know that Cathy always has a wonderful range of baby clothes, bedding and baby accessories in stock.  In fact, she specialises in baby’s and mum’s needs for the first 12 months, which makes it an incredibly easy place to shop!  And as Cathy herself is also pregnant (congratulations Cathy!!) I know that she understands what an expectant mum needs.

I went looking for baby wraps, and the first thing I saw was the Ergo Pouch Ergococoon (pictured at no. 2 below). What a brilliant concept! Babies are such wily little Houdinis when it comes to escaping their wraps, and although I got pretty good at wrapping my firstborn, my husband would be the first to admit that wrapping wasn’t exactly his forte.  Here’s a wrap that even he could get right in the middle of the night!

Cathy also has a brilliant range of baby sleeping bags which I swear by for keeping little wrigglers warm at night, and the new winter fashion is hip, hot and happening: Eternal Creation leads the way with bright colours and warm knits, while Three Little Trees is turning Japanese on us with stunning bird and animal prints. Such a refreshing change from fluffy bunnies, and so stylishly done.

Take 20% off at 9 Months Waiting until 28 May 2009 only with the code ‘KSF-20′.  You (and I!) can really go nuts with this kind of discount – it applies store-wide, so sale stuff too! – and remember that if your order total is over $100.00 you’ll also get free shipping. Let’s goooo shopping!!

Prices quoted in red below are after the KSF 20% discount, applicable until 28 May 2009 with code ‘KSF-20′.

If you’re expecting, or already the parent of a bub 12 months and under, 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – is just for you.

Cathy at 9 Months Waiting has carefully researched her products to ensure the best range of babywear and essentials for the first 12 months.

Select from a great range of basics from Marquise and Bonds (be sure to buy a size up in Bonds, as it is known for its small sizings), divine fashion pieces from Three Little Trees, Baobab, Eternal Creation, and Tees 2 Knees, well priced bedding essentials from Living Textiles and Lotus Linens, and luxe, yet affordable baby bags from Vanchi, who also make the world’s best large sized baby wraps.

I recently met Sarah from Vanchi in person, and had a good look at the entire Vanchi range. I was particularly keen to see the baby wraps, as I had heard so many good things.

Available in both cotton/elastane and 100% cotton muslin varieties, these wraps are a lovely quality. Sarah has put on extra effort into making these wraps just perfect: the stretch in the muslin wraps is across the grain, ensuing that you can pull the wrap nice and snug to your baby’s body, without straining the fabric, or distressing your bub. Another huge benefit of these wraps is their generous sizing. At 180×100 cm you can use these quality wraps as a stylish beach sarong once their work as a baby snuggler is done!

Vanchi baby bags really are gorgeous, and so affordable. My faves are the oriental fabrics. If you’re a fan too, don’t miss the matching Vanchi ‘Change and Away’ pouches, which make changing on the go a snap.

If you’re looking for extra special basics for your little one, or are seeking the softest bassinet or cot sheeting for your babe, then stop by and check out Lotus Linens at 9MW. Lotus Linens products are made of 70% bamboo and 30% certified organic cotton fibres, which feel incredibly soft and cool to the touch. Bamboo is also a sustainable resource, so you can feel extra good about bringing it into your home.

9 Months Waiting have just received a new shipment of Lotus Linen Bamboo Bambini range in both long and short-sleeved onesies, so if you’ve been hanging out for them, now’s the time to jump.

Until 8 March, 2009, KSF readers can take 15% off store-wide – including already reduced sale stock! – at 9 Months Waiting. Enter code ‘KSF15-F24′ at checkout to redeem.

Note: Use the search facility at 9 Months Waiting to locate your chosen designers in an instant.

Everything You Need For Baby at 9 Months Waiting, PLUS a 15% Discount for KSF Readers

If you’re already a mum, or especially if you’re currently pregnant, then you’ll fully appreciate the beautiful site 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au.  Specialising in babywear and essentials for the first 12 months, you’ll find everything you need to clothe your precious little bundle.

Nine months is a long time to wait to meet your baby, but it’s probably a good thing as it gives you a chance to get used to the idea, to prepare yourself for parenthood (even the second or third or fourth time around!) and of course, to do all the shopping you need to do.  After all, even second and subsequent babies deserve to have something new and special just for themselves, something that isn’t a hand-me-down!  You’re spoiled for choice at 9MW.

The great thing about 9 Months Waiting is that although Cathy is careful only to stock brands of the highest quality in fabric and workmanship, none of their products break the bank.  You can choose from Bonds or Marquise for everyday pieces which will hold their shape and softness, Baobab for something a bit different (you’ll love the feel of the Baobab pieces), and Eternal Creation for sweet little ‘going out’ outfits.  There are also Trees 2 Knees and Three Little Trees tees and rompers which are just adorable, and very individual.

New to 9 Months Waiting is the Bonds range, and I have to say, this is the most brilliant range for every-day basics you could ever find.  My son lived in Bonds Wondersuits for the first couple of months of his life, and they were his winter PJs until he was over a year old.  Bonds pieces wash incredibly well and they last forever – I would recommend thinking about buying a size up though, as the sizing is on the small side.

I definitely recommend checking out 9MW’s cot and bassinet bedding range too.  There are some very handy packs including the super-good-value 8 Piece Starter Set from Living Textiles (great quality, even better value), and I also love the deliciously soft Lotus Linens Bamboo bassinet and cot sheet sets which are high on my list of ‘must haves’ for next time around.

Now for the great news: KidStyleFile readers can take 15% off store-wide at 9 Months Waiting before 15th February 2009.  Just enter the code ‘KSF15′ at checkout.

The prices below show the 15% KidStyleFile discount (see above for details), which is valid until the 15th of February 2009.

1. Marquise Baby Studsuit – Stone Spot, $19.95 $16.95
2. Eternal Creation Baby Girl’s Top and Knickers, $50.95 $43.30
3. Tees 2 Knees Mertie Martian Tee (S/S), $34.95 $29.70
4. Lotus Linens Bamboo Kimono Short-Sleeve Romper, $24.95 $21.20
5. Three Little Trees Dove Tree Romper, $32.00 $27.20

9 Months Waiting: 15% of storewide – Living Textiles, Lotus Linens, Eternal Creation, Baobab + More!

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

The beautiful baby store 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – is very aptly named.  It feels like a long wait from finding out you are pregnant to getting to meet your baby, and one way to fill that time is by setting up your nursery and the getting together the layette (newborn clothes) for the impending arrival.

9 Months Waiting has just about everything you’ll need for the task!

Stockists of some of the finest products around for birth to 12 months, the store has a stunning range of clothes from Baobab, Eternal Creation (fabulous collection of EC summer stock just arrived), Tees 2 Knees, Three Little Trees, and more, plus a big drop of Marquise just about to land – keep your eyes peeled for that as it’s bound to go quickly.

Mums of boys will be glad to know that Cathy of 9MW understands that it’s easy to find cute clothes for girls but can be much harder shopping for boys, and she stocks accordingly.  So if you have a newborn boy or you’re expecting one, make sure you have a look at the well-stocked boys section.

Another place where 9MW really excels is nursery bedding.  Among the brands they stock are two real stand-outs: Living Textiles and Lotus Linens.  Not only do they have sheets, blankets and comforters, you can also get wraps and baby sleeping bags.

I love Living Textiles wraps and used them exclusively when my son was a newborn.  They’re an excellent size (120×120cms) which makes them easy to use, and your baby won’t grow out of them before you’re ready to stop using them.  Choose from classic white, or an adorable selection of colours and patterns.

Another brilliant product from Living Textiles is the eight piece cot starter pack, which includes fitted and flat cot sheets, a pillowcase, a cellular blanket, a mattress protector, and a three-pack of those brilliant wraps I mentioned above.  Except for the mattress protector it’s all 100% cotton and excellent quality – you really can’t go wrong, and you make great savings buying this way.

I mentioned Lotus Linens before, and I want to elaborate because it’s such beautiful stuff.  Made of 70% bamboo and 30% cotton, the Lotus Linens fabric is exquisitely soft.  In fact, when I first felt it and didn’t know what it was, I actually thought it was a cashmere blend!  Next time I have a newborn I’m definitely getting some of the Lotus Linens bassinet sheets.

Lotus Linen does newborn clothing as well, which is just as gorgeous and really quite adorable.  See 9MW’s whole Lotus Linens range here.

There’s a great range of other labels at 9 Months Waiting too: check the dresses from Three Little Trees (comes with free frangipani tree seeds!), the sweetest applique tees from Tees 2 Knees, classic baby basics from Marquise, cool cuts that are infinitely wearable from Baaobab, fresh summery attire from fairtrade maker Eternal Creation, Living Textiles, and stylish baby bags from Aussie designer Vanchi.

Smile, and be happy, because Cathy at 9 Months Waiting is giving us 15% off store-wide until December 14. Enter ‘ksfile’ at checkout to redeem.
