One of the first stores that I came across as a first time mum was Metro Mum – www.metromum.com.au. Despite the obligatory new mum sleepless haze, I knew that I had found a gem in this online boutique. Metro Mum helped eliminate the guesswork out of being a first time mum by providing me with modern, quality choices for all my baby needs. It is so much more than a baby boutique though: from mum and dad, to babies and bigger kids too, Metro Mum has a stylish and innovative range of products for the whole family!

Right now is a stellar time to visit Metro Mum because their Crazy Monkey Sale is currently in full swing. With savings of up to 70% off a huge range of quality items, this is the perfect time to stock up. If you have new baby on the way and are on the hunt for a quality pram then take a look at the Mimi Xari Pram. With its patented “carrycot inside” system, the seat can be easily converted into a carrycot by simply unzipping the seat unit – perfect for transporting your baby with minimum disruption. It was $1099.00, but if you move fast you can pick it up on sale for $879.00. If you are looking for a newborn baby gift, check out the Alimrose Design range. These coveted baby toys have all been heavily discounted at Metro Mum as part of the Crazy Monkey Sale. Reduced by over 50% to a tiny $12.50, the Alimrose Bobby Bunny Toy Rattle represents excellent value for money and makes a cute little newborn gift for friends.

Thanks to our monkey friend at Metro Mum, another 5% off has been peeled off all Crazy Monkey Sale items already reduced by up to 70% just for KSF readers. Simply enter BANANAS at the checkout to receive a further 5% off already reduced items. You will have to move quickly because the extra discount offer ends midnight 20 January 2012, and all sale items are strictly while stocks last. True to the sound of it’s name Yooneek – www.yooneek.com.au (pronounced ‘unique’) is a unique new store with it’s finger on the pulse when it comes to highly innovative and stylish products. Yes, Yooneek is one of those stores that has the serious ‘it’ factor going on!

You won’t find anything at Yooneek that doesn’t have ‘it’: that magical infusion of function and style, a little bit of quirk and of course the best of the best in quality – many products boast an original European design.  This an emporium of funky wares designed to bring happiness and ease to modern life, home and outdoor living spaces – with prices that don’t induce “guffaw, cough, splutter” when you glance at the price tag!

The doors are being flung wide open at Yooneek with a sale of up to 65% off the RRP of selected brands in their Kids Department. Discounted brands include some KidStyleFile favourites like:  WallCandy, Trunki, Kipiis, KidsonRoof, Automoblox, Boon, Bilibo, Playsam and Wheely Bug. This fantastic sale continues only while stocks last until 31 March 2010.

Starting from as little as $20, this sale is a fantastic opportunity to snap up some WallCandy to decorate your nursery, child’s bedroom or playroom. Included in the sale is the best-selling Season shown at number ten below, and the new design called Smarts – a 3 step art program designed to enhance newborn and infant cognitive development.

Meal time at our house has always been a fairly messy affair. But with an independent 14 month old now in the mix; let’s just say things have gone to a whole other level! I am constantly reaching for a bib, and really, whatever is closest to minimise the damage! Enter Kipiis bib clips to my rescue – designed to transform a napkin, kitchen towel or cloth nappy into a convenient, instant bib. This very clever product is currently on sale at Yoonneek -  25% off in fact!

Christmas saw a new addition in our little family, her name is ‘Harley’ and she is simply delightful! On a recent interstate holiday, she was the talking point for every adult near us in the airport, and she provided some much needed entertainment for our three little ones. I just love the entire Trunki range, and Yooneek is a great place to stock up on all things Trunki for any upcoming holiday adventures. Trunki ride on-luggage is currently 10% off at Yooneek. Plus new products just arrived are the Trunki Holsters for adding some H2O for your travels, as well as the Saddlebag – with one twist this cool messenger bag doubles as a comfy saddle for your Trunki. So thoughtful and so funky!

Last, but not certainly not least, and in fact exclusive to Yooneek, are the unique, limited edition Raplapla dolls. These contemporary rag dolls are made by Erica Perrot from Canada.  Raplaplas are simply charming creations. Each one is a character, with a magnificent smile, ready to come alive and play with  plenty of scope left for your little one’s imagination. My favourite is ‘Tim’ a little more Clark Kent than Superman – he is just too cute for words!

There is lots to peruse at Yooneek. When you’re all done checking out out all the fabulous finds in the Kid’s Department, skip on over to play in the rest of the store for some unique home wares and gifts to spoil yourself with.

We all love a sale, don’t we? The rush of snapping up beautiful bargains is enough to get any heart pumping, and when the sale in question is at the luxe The Infant Boutique – www.theinfantboutique.com.au – I really get quite dizzy with excitement. With big discounts of some seriously amazing brands — I’m talking DwellStudio, Djeco, Red Plum Linen, WallCandy and Momiji to name but a few — I’m sure you will too!

Let’s look at DwellStudio first. Absolutely stunning designs, and unparalleled quality, are what make this brand of children’s textiles the worldwide phenomenon that it is fast becoming. You won’t find any frilly bows or cliched designs here; DwellStudio’s designs are both sleekly modern and encapsulating the innocence of childhood.  A selection of DwellStudio products have been marked down by 30%, so have a browse through the range here.

If you want something to look fab with your new DwellStudio bedding, then I recommend the WallCandy Chalkboard Animal Stickers.  They’ll compliment any design, and even better they’re also discounted: 20% off!

If you prefer a more traditional, yet still stylish, look to your child’s linen, then have a look at the Red Plum Linen range at The Infant Boutique.  I love how Red Plum Linen has a delicate vintage feel to it, and the quality really is lovely.  This is a timeless collection, it will never go out of fashion, and the fact that the entire range is discounted by 20% just makes it even more appealing!

Another place you’ll be wanting to explore is the Playtime>Games & Puzzles category, which has also been marked down by 20% – yep, all of it!!  My personal favourite brand in here is Djeco, but there are also pages and pages of other quality toys to choose from.  You’ll have so much fun with these toys that you won’t want to give them to the kids! Momiji collectors will be thrilled to know that these adorable little Japanese dolls are on sale at 20% off – a very rare event to find them discounted at all.

Lastly, if you’re looking for help keeping the family organised and co-ordinated, then the Milestone Press Family Master Plan or Inner-B diaries are for you.  Now marked down to 50% off, this is a fantastic way to keep track of everything a busy parent needs to keep track of – and that’s saying a lot!

Stick ‘Em Up! The Most Stylish Wall Stickers and Decals for Your Kid’s Room

Posted: January 2nd, 2009

Today’s post written by Kat

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

When I was backpacking in Europe and had no cashola/space for a Christmas tree, I simply cut out strips of wrapping paper, interspersed with rows of lollies, and blu-tacked them diagonally on the wall of our flat in Edinburgh.

Little did I know that our improvised wall art (which, by the way, looked pretty cool and was also edible, always a bonus) was actually the height of what’s hip in decor.

Wall stickers/art/decals or whatever you like to call them, are an inexpensive and easy way to update a room (and they’re not just for kids!) Removable – renters, rejoice! – and without the long-term commitment of a new paint job, there are SO many designs out there it can be a bit daunting. So here’s the KSF lowdown on the hippest buys you can nab online.

Mooo wall stickers are made from “a strong fine-weave adhesive fabric that doesn’t stretch easily and will stick to almost any surface including, brick, glass, and painted walls.”

Mooo have a huge range including these delightful Chalkboard Stickers from $15 a pack. Imagine your kids’ delight when they’re told they can write on the walls!

They also have a huge range of absurdly cute sticker designs, all with a plethora of colour options, from $60 for a pack of 48.

I found these For Walls Chalkboard decals over at the The Hip Infant and immediately fell in love. This little owl ($29.95) is possibly too cute to draw on, but he’d look so adorable perched on a wall! THI have a large range of For Walls stickers – look, I found elephants! – suitable for baby, boy’s and girl’s rooms.

Monsters or Robots look totally cool for little boys, while girls will love the pretty Shimmering Butterflies or Magic Tree designs.

For Wall Sticker packs start at $39.95.

Over at Urban Baby, a wide range of Wallcandy kits are just waiting to adorn your walls (or chairs, or tables, or wherever!).

Imagine how cool the Candy Factory ($119.95) would look, and how much fun to use – the kit contains 5.5m of lawn and 12 lollipop flowers for you, sorry, I mean the kids, to ‘plant’!

The Rococco Chalkboard ($49.95 inc chalk) would look equally at home in your kitchen, or try the beautiful Season Elements kit ($49.95) in the nursery.

Quite frankly, I’m lusting after them all!

Ekidna Kids stock wall art by Bosco Bear and My Munchkin Home, and you’re spoilt for choice: each and every design is just sooo cute! My picks? For the nursery, this giant mint Giraffe (on sale for $71.96) including dots to add as you like; for little girls a magical giant Fairy Castle (on sale, $103.96); or a herd of roaring Dinosaurs ($89) for little boys to play amongst! Bosco Bear also do a great range of seasonal decals (like this chic Christmas tree set, $89) so you can totally get into the spirit of the season, without necessitating a total renovation!

You’ve probably seen the gorgeous designs by Little Chippi floating around quite a few of your fave online stores – Shop House stock them all plus some cute Little Chippi Gift cards – and there’s a good reason this brand is so popular: the designs manage to combine cuteness with chic, and they’re Australian made.

I can just imagine a little boys room being suitably adorable with the Drive Time set ($82.95) and I’m seriously contemplating the Red Robin ($82.95) for my daughter’s room…if we can make space around all those elephants and owls…

Surfing around in the name of research, I also found the Wall Sticker Company, based in Melbourne and stocking designs for the home, office, kid’s rooms as well as a custom design service.

Check out this cool Elephant or Giraffe Custom name design (perfectamundo: “Charlotte” on an elephant, my search is over!) for $75, or imagine those most magical of words, “Once Upon A Time” ($55) tucked into your child’s favourite reading corner. These cute Jungle Animals ($65) are perfect for a nursery, or delight little boys with these cool Monsters ($65)! While you’re at it, add a calming influence to your work or study space with this gorgeously simple Blue Wren ($50) or consider inspirational quotes to add a point of difference to other rooms (from $65).

Please check individual sites for shipping details.
