Boxing Day Blitz at Where Did You Get That? – 15%-90% off Store-Wide Sale, No Exceptions!

Posted: December 26th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Well, Christmas is over for another year and I’d almost be sad… if it wasn’t for the Boxing Day sales!  And where better to start but with the fabuloso Where Did You Get That? – www.wheredidyougetthat.com.au – who have absolutely gone wild with the red marker on the price tags.

Toni and Melony at WDYGT? have decided not only to have impressive markdowns on their fabulous range of top brands – up to 75%!!! – they’re also giving KidStyleFile readers 15% off absolutely everything store-wide. Everything – no exceptions!  Sale stock, rarely discounted items, you name it – it’s all down by 15% with the code ‘BOX-THAT’ until the 1st of January 2010. This brings savings in at up to 90% off for you! You simply cannot do better!

Take a look at some of the items you can use this discount on.  For example, the Summer Sale section has a wonderful range of current season fashion from brands such as Daily Tea, Two Belles, Tommy Rocket and a lot more, and it’s all marked down by 20%.  Add the 15% off code to that, and we’re looking at around 35% off current season fashion! Crikey!  There’s also a gorgeous range of swimwear which is already reduced by 10% (so that’s around 25% off with the code) from Stella Cove and Girls 4 Sport.

The remaining stock from last summer 08/09 and last winter 09 is already reduced by a whopping 30%-75%, and with the code that brings the discounts up to around 90%!  Most things in this category will be 65% off, which is extraordinarily cheap for these top branded items.  Grab them now and put them away for next year, and come next winter or summer you’ll be incredibly grateful that you did.

The rest of the store, including the adorable Chic By Sha pettiskirts, a huge range of toys and arts & crafts from Djeco, Deglingos, Radio Flyer and Crazy Forts, kids shoes from Morgan & Milo, Lelli Kelly and Zid Zid Kids.  And that’s only just scratching the surface as it would take me weeks to list everything at WDYGT?; it’s truly a treasure trove of goodies!

So go wild, have fun and take advantage of these brilliant discounts, because they’re only available while stocks last…

Discounted prices quoted below are valid with code (read above) until 1 January 2010 only.

Happy 3rd Birthday Generation Wonder: Celebrate with 20% off Everything for 3 Days Only

Posted: October 19th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

………………………………………………………………………………………………

It’s birthday time at Generation Wonder – www.generationwonder.com – they’re *3* this month, and we’re celebrating with them. Yay! Bring on the fairy bread!

This beautiful online store specialises in stocking brands with a conscience: everything at Generation Wonder is organic, or Fair Trade certified, or Australian made, or donates proceeds to good causes – and sometimes all of the above!  There’s even a neat feature where you can ‘shop by conscience‘; all Generation Wonder’s brands are organised into categories showing what they stand for.

Their motto is ‘from tiny acorns giant oaks grow’, which means that a great childhood is what helps to make a great adult.  From this basis, Mihiri carefully selects products from lesser-known designers around the world, making for a truly unique and wonderful collection available online at her store.

To celebrate turning three, Mihiri has marked down everything at Generation Wonder: take 20% off store-wide for three days only. Prices are already marked down on the site so you don’t need a code. As a special birthday celebration gift to KSF readers, all orders over $65 in a single transaction will also include a packet of Fairtrade and Organic Coffee. The sale and GWP offer ends at midnight 21 October 2009, so make the move to fine Fairtrade, Eco and Ethical produce now.

You can use this fantastic opportunity to stock up on all sorts of goodies – after all, now you can add 20% more to your shopping basket! I personally love the range of toys at Generation Wonder.  There are some really unusual and original items in this section, such as the ‘My First Picnic Basket’ cloth set, which is handmade in Thailand by the Fatima Self-Help Centre. The lovely Fair Trade dolls of many different ethnicities are gorgeous too; these ones are handmade in Sri Lanka by Lanka Kade.

There’s a great range of clothing too: choose from Frugi (organic cotton gear from the UK), Kate Quinn Organics (from the US), Piccalilly UK and Global Mamas (Ghana).  And did I mention the Decor section? So many delicious bits and pieces for brightening up your kids’ rooms!  Love it, love it all.

Discounted prices quoted below are valid until midnight 21 October only.

2. Zid Zid Kids Mini Poof – Branch, $120.00

Generation Wonder – www.generationwonder.com is one of my favourite online children’s boutique. Filled with a unique selection of clothing, toys, books, bedding and decor for kids, proprietor Mihiri chooses all products for their organic, fair trade or earth friendly qualities, as well as their beautiful design.

Generation Wonder stock an amazing range of brands, including Kidsonroof, Barefoot, Zid Zid Kids, Fleurville, Thermos, Crocodile Creek, Craft Aid Mauritius, Essential Angel, Taylor and Khoo, Ethica Accessories,  Global Fund for Children, Global Mamas, Kindred Magazine, Lanka Kade, OBON, Organic Bubs, Papoose, Plato Puzzles, Remarkable UK, Sisters of Good Shepherd, Third World Craft Nepal, Tiny Revolutionary, Turtlegreen, Whole Child Series, and Blessed Earth. Hot Tip: To locate all the brands on the Generation Wonder site, use the site map.

One of the most lovely things about Gen W is that they take the time to tell you the story behind the products, which is especially nice because you can then pass the story on to the lucky recipient of your purchases. It’s a feel-good factor from start to finish!

New to Generation Wonder is gorgeous UK brand Piccalilly. In addition to Piccalilly’s gorgeous organic cotton baby and kids basics, you have to check out the Ballerina Dress. Available in pink and red, these dresses are made by a small family run business in Kuta, have hand stitched beading, come in sizes from 3 – 8 and are perfect for inspiring the next dancing queen.

Piccalilly also produce some gorgeous bedding (organic cotton and fair trade) that has been made free from harmful chemicals and for children with sensitive skin or excema these would be ideal. The best thing is Generation Wonder have some adorable new designs just in that range in price from $29.99 – $39.99.

I have to admit I was stuck in the decor and toys section at Generation Wonder for quite some time. It is hard to decide what too choose, it’s all so good! Luckily, every Monday there is a new Gift Set of the Week, which makes life a bit easier for indecisive folks like me. Mihiri, personally selects a gift combo and always 20% off the regular price (for one week only), so be sure to check in on Monday for the latest deals. This is a great way to stock the present cupboard.

Generation Wonder have also added some new ‘departments’ since we last visited them: browse Imagine and Create, Décor, and Music in Me, as well as the Bedding section to make lots of new and fabulous discoveries.

Generation Wonder is offering KSF readers FREE Postage within Australia for orders over $75.00, just type KSF-March in the special instructions section when ordering. Offer ends 3 April 2009.

1. Organic Cotton Stripey Bib $9.99
2. Vest Style Stripey Grow $19.99 $12.00
3. Organic Cotton Striped Hoodie $24.95
4. Ballerina Dress (pink or red) $46.95

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Tell us about your life, and what you did before you had your children?

Right now life is hectic…and I’m loving it!  I think between my husband and I we have more jobs than there are people; we’re still working out why that is!

My life revolves around our little family of four and the communities we exist in.  Generation Wonder takes up a big chunk of the day, we have a small extended family we see often, lots to do with school and preschool life, and a  lovely group of friends we enjoy spending time with.

I’m also thriving on doing voluntary work with a very special charity called Room to Read, which builds schools and libraries for children (mostly in Asia and Africa) who would not otherwise have access to the lifelong gift of education.

Life was certainly moving at a more reasonable pace a few years ago, and before children…well, looking back, it seems like we had all the time in the world, even though we felt very busy at the time.

I grew up in Sydney, then Brisbane, then back to Sydney for University.  I qualified as an Occupational Therapist and worked in the field of mental health for many years before taking up a human resources training and development role in the health sector.

I always had this sense of wanting to do a job that helped people.  I did return to work after my first child but after the second, decided I needed to do something that was closer to home and allowed me to spend more time with the children and less time running them up and down to day care.

You stock only Fairtrade, eco and organic products only at Generation Wonder, and they’re all based around ‘stories’. Tell us a little about that.

As a child, I could always be mesmerised by a story.  My happiest childhood memories are long lazy days reading books under the bed covers.

Of the things I remember learning about at school, much of what I remember is because I learned the story of it, the background, the bit that makes a trivial fact or figure vivid and real.  So when I started Generation Wonder, the love of story, combined with the desire to do a job that helped others, led me to find wonderful products with wonderful stories.

I really believe our littlest citizens have the biggest capacity to make a difference in the world.  Children are so receptive to learning, I feel it’s a missed opportunity not to introduce to them from a young age, stories that connect them to their global community.  I believe that if we give them the opportunity to learn about the environment, or someone else’s human experience, we give them the opportunity of growing up knowing that they matter, and that they can make a difference in the world, just by the choices they make.

Because a major role in the life of a child is play, and that is how they learn, at Generation Wonder, I’ve combined the wonder of play with global stories, and hope that a little learning follows.

What are your top 5 bestsellers, and why?

My First Doctor’s Kit and My First Picnic Basket are very popular.  Perhaps it’s the wonderful story of the ladies in Thailand who are supported by a local group of nuns to make these beautiful toys by hand.  Plus they are delightful and imaginative and have lots of stuff in them!

Fair Trade dolls by Lanka Kade – I think everyone can find a doll that looks a little like the child they are buying for, because these dolls represent kids looking different, and that reality is generally not represented very well in children’s dolls.

Crocodile Creek bibs and place mats – These are selling well encourages me a lot.  The message about the value of PVC FREE items for our kids and in manufacturing processes must be getting out there.

Zid Zid Kids Mini Poofs – I’ve barely loaded these on to the website and they are flying out the door!  Zid Zid Kids is a family business in Morocco – their pieces are just beautifully designed, beautifully hand made – the stuff of whimsy and fantasy.  I sigh with awe every time I see them.

The Purple Flower Felt Bag by Third World Craft, Nepal, is tops  – it’s such a gorgeous colour and I think it’s just the right size for a young girl, not too big, not too small, just right.  And teamed with a Lanka Kade skipping rope and a TWC heart purse, it’s a gorgeous, and completely Fair Trade, gift.

What’s your favourite activity to do with your kids?

Can I say putting them to bed at night??  Seriously though, there is something very soothing about that time of night when rapid-fire conversations slow down to hushed whispers and restless little bodies relax into the sheets.

We do love to go to the swimming pool or the beach.  It’s an activity we can all do together, gets us outside, and everyone gets to relax.

Complete this sentence: Generation Wonder is…

…a community of families out to make a difference in the world!

Flying through Christmas on an American Icon – Radio Flyer at Where Did You Get That? Superb Discount Offers for You

Posted: November 17th, 2008

There’s something truly iconic about the Radio Flyer Red Wagon. It conjures up 50’s movies and perfectly groomed American housewives bearing piping hot trays of fresh-baked cookies, while kids play in the yard, towing treasures, and each other about, the wagon being a horse, a boat, and a train, in turn.

The glamour of times past may have faded, but the Radio Flyer wagons have endured, a timeless American icon, that has thrilled children endlessly, and been passed from generation to generation for over 90 years.

As well as continuing to make these classic toys – perfect for Christmas: imagine them sitting there, under the tree piled with gifts – magic! – Radio Flyer have diversified into a range of other cool vehicles, including the gorgeous retro-styled scooters, which deliver the optimal ride for little people through their considered design. These clever toys are parent friendly too: they fold down with the press of a button, making storage a breeze.
