Giggle’n’Groove - The Best of Bling: 15% to you, 15% to Hannah’s Foundation, plus WIN great prizes!

Posted: October 3rd, 2008

Lisa at Giggle’n’Groove - www.gigglengroove.com - has done it again: she’s come up with more fabulous bling for you and your funky offspring.

Select from the most delicious hair accessories, as well as divine jewellery for little girls, big girls, and little boys don’t miss out either!

Giggle’n'Groove is a boutique business: nothing is mass produced or pre-fabricated here. Each piece is lovingly and skillfully created by Lisa, who has a true passion for her work, and dedication to perfection.

The quality of Giggle’n’Groove’s hair bows are second to none: they are created using top-quality  grosgrain, satin or organza ribbon, and ends are professionally heat sealed to prevent fraying. G’n'G’s  jewellery - necklaces, bracelets, anklets and earrings - uses a fine selection of premium Sterling silver and Bali Sterling silver components, Swarovski crystals and pearls, glass and individually handmade polymer clay beads. All pieces are heirloom quality, and made to last lifetimes.

Brand new to Lisa’s repertoire are gold Mother’s Bracelets, Scrabble tile, and and glass bead pendants, and hand stamped Sterling silver pendants.

I am particularly taken with the Scrabble tile and glass bead pendants (my favourite is the Russian doll glass bead pendant), which are comprised of a bespoke designed tile graphic bonded to a wooden scrabble tile.  Lisa can create any letter and background you desire , and you have a choice of ball chain or satin or organza ribbon with Sterling silver clasp. These necklaces are very affordable (they start at just $7.50!!), and come in a little keepsake box, which make them perfect for gifting.

The gold Mother’s Bracelets are a luxe option in this genre, and the hand stamped Sterling silver pendants are another gorgeous option for personalised expressions of love for your family.

Lisa has an extensive range of designs to choose from, or you can have a unique design made to order especially for you.

You can receive 15% off your order at Giggle’n'Groove with the KidStyleFile discount code, to be found in Shop 4 Kids magazine. (Can’t make it to a newsagent? Email me, and I’ll send you the code - reads the terms and condition here. Please note this discount does not apply to G’n'G VIPS who already get a tasty discount, and discount is applied before postage charges are added.)

There’s also another good reason to shop at Giggle’n'Groove this month. Giggle’n’Groove is supporting Hannah’s Foundation in their ongoing endeavour to prevent the tragic loss of lives through drowning, by donating 15% of all sales to the foundation.

Warm up with a Fire-Sale at Ten Sticky Fingers: Up to 80% off - Hurry Hurry, drive the fire truck!!

Posted: August 20th, 2008

Nee na nee na!! Coming through with a wild and crazy wholesale clearance of stock at Ten Sticky Fingers - www.tenstickyfingers.com.au.

Casey at TSF is preparing for the coming season, and has decided to cut to the chase with 50-80% off store-wide. Absolutely every single item in every category - winter stock and current season alike - has been slashed to go. Prices have already been marked down for you, and the sale runs while stocks last only

YOWZA! That is *hot*!

Ten Sticky Fingers delivers a perfect blend of individuality, practicality and affordablity, and brings a beautiful dash of hand-made love and Australian design flair into our lives; so while these prices are bargain basement, the quality of the products is certainly not.

Casey stocks predominately Australian owned and operated labels including Little Brown Mouse, and Heavenly Creatures , (the most gorgeous one-off clothing pieces) and Black Eyed Susie (a huge talent out of Tasmania, my wild and wonderful home state) , Wasabi Kids (a slice of Harajuku, Japan, Australian style: we have the Froggie and Mushroom Tees, and the Mushroom Swing Top. I love the Piggy Pants, too. Apparently the ears aren’t sewn down on the pants, resulting in them wiggling as bubba crawls along: too cute!!), Cinti Does Vintage (timeless class), Barbara Sansoni Designs (wonderful eco and kid friendly soft toys; we have several of these in out house, and they are truly lovely! The removable clothing is a lovely detail), Tonic (luxe bathing products), The Little Experience (great for winter rainy days!), Baby Cupcakes (baby socks in flan, sushi and cupcake form: make perfect gifts), Heavenly Creatures (beautiful quality), and Casey’s own divine vintage-inspired label which she runs with her mum, Judy, Red Thread Designs (superb felt booties and accessories, and hand-knit hats).

I promise that you will be absolutely stunned by the beauty of Ten Sticky Fingers’ product range, and completely knocked out by the prices.

Picks of the day below, and yes, those really are the right prices!! Get over there before it’s all sold out!

I wish I could sew.

Following an incident in Year 8 Home Economics which involved a sewing machine needle going right through my thumb (made the teacher faint!) I came to the conclusion that sewing machines and I were not meant to be friends.

But when I see amazing handmade creations in craft shops, or see the adorable little outfits that my creatively-talented friends make for their kids, it’s difficult not to go a vivid shade of green with envy.

Luckily for talent starved individuals like myself, beautiful handmade items are now easily available online.

Etsy - www.etsy.com - and MadeIt - www.madeit.com.au - both have a huge selection of handmade clothing, accessories, toys, stationery, blown glass, artwork, stationery, housewares, you name it!

Both sites are set up so that individual sellers can list and sell their items, meaning that you communicate with and buy directly from the person who handmakes the product you want. You can’t get more personal than that.

The chief difference between the two sites is, of course, that Etsy is based in the US whereas MadeIt is Australian. However, most of the sellers on Etsy are happy to post to Australia, so it’s always worth asking them for a quote.

Here are some of the beautiful items available:

Ok, so what if you ARE a talented seamstress already, or you want to learn and need some ideas?

Have a look at Living Creatively - www.livingcreatively.com.au. Apparently Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s creative outlet(!!) Living Creatively is a beautiful website entirely devoted to all things creative, including a great online discussion forum, Living Creatively has monthly competitions, there are loads of articles, and inspiration a-plenty. It’s a website that feels very much like you’re leafing through a glossy magazine - stunning!

Now that you have some ideas on what to create, you’re going to need fabric.

THE name in fabric these days is Amy Butler. Amy is an American designer of fabrics and patterns, and her products are just so beautiful. (Psst: have a hunt through her website for free patterns!)

The best place to buy Amy Butler fabrics in Australia is at Duckcloth - ww.duckcloth.com.au. They have a great range, not just of Amy Butler but of loads of other fabrics (many by talented Australian designers) and sewing paraphernalia as well. You’ll find more than enough to keep you going for a very long time! Plus, Duckcloth ship all orders free of charge Australia wide: very inspiring!

Also, check out the Australian-based Find a Fabric blog for news on fine fabrics discounted.
