Posted: March 1st, 2010

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Autumn days may still feel a long way off during these last, long days of summer, but in the southern hemisphere the 1st of March marks the beginning of the new season, and already some of our favourite brands are filling the stores with their great new Autumn/Winter fashions. Autumn colours this season are rich and strong with fuchsia, charcoal, plum, navy, burnt orange and blues filing up the racks. There is a proliferation of stylish garments which are comfy and easy to wear: perfect for brightening dull days and kicking through the leaves before returning to the nest for some quality couch and cuddle time.

Trend Watch: February 2010 – Back To School

It is a wonderful time of year for children beginning their creche, preschool, kindergarten or school journey, or those starting a new year. Although it can be a little sad for us, it is a truly amazing time for them as they discover new worlds and begin their life of learning.

It also marks the end of the summer holidays and the start of a new routine with new activities and new friendships. Sometimes the road can be bumpy, but with time for some pit stops along the way to read a book, sing or song, or just hang out together, lifes lessons will be learned with ease.

Trend Watch: January 2010 – Making Summer Memories

My favourite childhood memories revisit me every summertime. Hot sand, windows down, cool dips, icy poles and spending all day in my swimsuit. Conversations with friends confirm these as the universal memories of Australian childhood, which our own children are now experiencing anew.

Hanging out and the beach or pool or just running under the sprinkler on the lawn, sunny days are here and there is fun to be had. Our mood board for summer embodies this: think shorts, swimmers, and light floral frocks – perfect attire all summer long.

The 80’s are back! You may have already heard this and cringed at the thought, but we want to celebrate all that was good about being a kid in the 80’s and bring a little of that back to your family today.

Leave the shoulder pads and big hair behind, and think leg warmers, candy coloured clothing, long tees, pedal pushers, pantaloon jumpsuits, Ray Bans, cool sneakers and grandpa tops.

To really get into the groove pull out old board games like Operation and Twister, and re-live classic 80s movies like Ghostbusters, Karate Kid and, appropriately, Back to the Future.
