………………………………………………………………………………………………

With my baby due any day now, I’m in the final stages of nesting and getting all the essentials ready to go.  When I discovered a few gaps in the baby’s wardrobe and nursery, I turned to 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – to find what I needed.

Run by the lovely Cathy (who is also pregnant, and has an innate sense of what a modern mum wants for her nursery), 9 Months Waiting specialises in all that is beautiful and practical for babies from birth to 12 months of age, including clothing, accessories and bedding.  With an ever-increasing range of beautiful brands and products, 9MW is one of the best online stores in Australia for a baby’s needs.

New to 9MW this month is Babyjo, an absolutely delectable bamboo fabric range of rompers and blankets with a stylish modern look. There are quite a few bamboo pieces (also look for Lotus Linens) instore now, and if ever you’ve felt bamboo fabric you’ll understand why – it’s so incredibly soft you’ll never want to put baby in anything else!

There are some brilliant options for wrapping babies, including the Miracle Blanket, which is pretty well impossible for even the wriggliest baby to get out of, and has the added bonus of no excessive fabric to bunch or overheat, and no fastenings of any kind to fiddle with at night.

An equally fantastic option is the Ergo Pouch Ergococoon – pop the baby in it, zip it up and you’re done!  This is actually the most popular product on the whole site; Cathy sells so many of them each week that she struggles to keep them in stock, so when you see them available, snap ‘em up fast!

At the moment Cathy is running a huge sale with up to 50% off a huge range of products.  Additionally, she’s offering an extra 10% off store-wide to KidStyleFile readers – just enter ‘KSF10′ before 15 August 2009 when the code expires. That’s a total of up to 60% off store-wide!!

Also, I’ll let you in on a little secret: follow 9 Months Waiting on Twitter to hear about daily spectacular specials of up to 75% selected products.  There’s something new on offer every day, and chances are you’ll never know about it if you don’t see it advertised on Twitter.  Pass it on!

Don’t forget to use code ‘KSF10′ before 15 August 2009 to score 10% off all prices quoted below,  including products already marked down.

1. Marquise Star Nightie Sleeping Bag – White, $19.95

Sleep Tight, Sleep Chic 2009: Part 2 – Baby and Kids Bedlinen Update

Posted: June 26th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time for more luscious kids bedding – hurrah!  And I think you’ll be pleased to see what I’ve saved for Part II of this post (if you missed Part I, click here).

Starting off today’s field we have Boodalee, in-store now at Ekidna Kids. With striking, eye-catching designs, the Boodalee range features 250 thread count 100% cotton percale, and it’s dyed using a special process to ensure superior colourfastness.  Refreshingly modern and heartwarmingly colourful, this is a range for just about any child and home!

We all love chic homegrown Aussie brand mill&mia, but did you know that they do bed linen as well as their stunning range of clothing?  Yep, they sure do – and it’s as slick as the rest of their range. Starting from $67.50 for a cot duvet or sheet set, there’s a big range of colours and subtle patterns to choose from.

Another seriously stylish Australian brand is Zero+ Designs.  Designed by two mums (one whose background was in retail and the other an interior designer), the range is fresh and modern while incorporating traditional elements – think trucks and butterflies – in a funky new way.  There’s also a truly excellent range of bedding accessories such as cushions, sheet sets and so on.

More homegrown goodness is up next, with sproutdesigns.  Oh my oh my, how I love this brand! There’s a drool-worthy range of hand-screenprinted fabrics and products (all designed and made in Australia of course), and the bedding range has to be seen to be believed.  You should also check out the fabulous selection of room accessories, and for the crafty ones amongst us, you’ll be thrilled to know that sproutdesigns’ fabrics are available by the metre.

The Living Textiles Company has a decent range of products stocked at 9 Months Waiting, and this is an excellent option if you’re after a sweet, traditional design for your nursery.  Once again, this is an Australian-owned company who use only 100% cotton percale, and who rigorously test their products to ensure quality and value for money.

If you want to give your nursery that WOW factor then go for a real investment piece – you’re bound to find a perfect set at Miss Tati & Friends.  Not only is there an enormous selection of cot and single bedding of exceptional quality imported from the US, almost all of it is 40+% off! Miss Tati & Friends also stock a lovely range from Red Plum Linen, another Australian classic.

Lastly but most certainly not leastly is Cot Couture.  An Adelaide-based custom range, Cot Couture is distinctive not only for the spectacular range of fabrics available but also for the fact that the customer can request any combination they like.  Most of the Cot Couture comforters are reversible, meaning that simply flipping over the comforter will create a whole new look.  Ingenious!

There are a couple of special deals running on Cot Couture at the moment: firstly, there’s a sale section on the CC site of ends-of-line fabrics – comforters ordered in these are $125, down from $185. Next, if you want a different fabric, have a look at the range stocked at Chic Mother & Baby as you can take 10% off Cot Couture there using the code ‘VIPJoff’ until June 30.

Cathy at 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – loves babies so much that she has dedicated her entire store to little people from birth up to 12 months, and created a one-stop-shop for all your baby essentials. Cathy has chosen products based on quality and design, and the prices will blow you away: trust me, you will blink at how affordable her stock is!!

Choose from a great range of clothing from Bonds, Marquise, Three Little Trees, Baobab, Lotus Linens and Eternal Creation, and everything you need to give your bub (and you!) a good night’s sleep, including bedlinen, sleeping bags and wraps from Vanchi and Living Textiles.

I’m besotted with the Three Little Trees collection this season. Their Japan-inspired prints manage to be both cute and chic. Hot picks are the Ichi Ni cot linen, the Tokyo onesie, and the Honeysuckle Overalls (I have a pair of these popped away for gifting: they are truly adorable!)

For infant basics I highly recommend Marquise. Makers of the best layette basics for bubs, Marquise products are supersoft and high quality (they wash up beautifully: I know this because Marquise basics were a wardrobe staple for my two children) and the pure colours are perfectly suited to itty bitty babies. The Marquise cotton baby sleeping bags are a great product, as they give warmth, while not overheating your baby, and the open end gives ease of access for quick nappy changes.

The Living Textiles range at 9MW offers a fabulous range of affordable TOG rated sleeping bags, not to mention baby blankets and wraps.

As if the low everyday prices at 9 Months Waiting weren’t enough to tempt you, Cathy at 9 Months Waiting is giving KSF readers a very generous 20% off store-wide (yes, includes products already marked down!!) until 27 June 2009. Sleep Tight, Sleep Chic 2009: Part 1 – Baby and Kids Bedlinen Update

Posted: June 19th, 2009

Today Miki brings you an update on the baby and kids cot and bedlinen scene. There are so many new and  gorgeous quality options to choose from (I’ll take two of everything, please!) Stay tuned for part 2, coming next Friday for more wonderful options.

If you’re champing at the bit, you can read the 2008 reportage on bedlinen in the meantime: Read Part One read Part Two.

………………………………………………………………………………………………

By know you’re probably aware of my baby and kids shoe fetish, but I’m sharing with ou today my other great passion: bedlinen.  I love kids’ bedding.  I can’t get enough of it, and it’s going to break my heart when my children are old enough to insist that actually, they really want that licensed character doona sets instead of the beautiful ones I want to buy for them.

Until that sad day arrives I am going to continue to indulge my passion to the fullest :)

Today I present for your consideration a few absolute stunners.  First up is Three Little Trees, who are making quite a splash on the fashion front at the moment, with their new Japanese-inspired linen sets. The Japanese Flower print for girls and the Flying Bird print for boys are über cool and will make any bedroom ooze with chic. Be prepared to buy a Japanese tea set for your daughter and martial arts lessons for your son (or possibly vice versa) if you go down this path; Japanese design and culture is addictive! (Hot hint: Three Little Trees Ichi Ni cot bedding is heavily discounted at 9 Months Waiting right now!)

Cult German designer Graziela Preisner and her daughter, Nina, have just re-released their original 1970’s print byGraziela linen set.  Blazing with colour, this range includes not just bedlinen but room accessories too, even nightwear!  It’s currently 15% off using the code ‘0609′ on the byGraziela site (code expires 30 June ‘09), and postage to Australia works out at around AU$50 for a set of linen – so for a single bed set you’re looking at around AU$150 all up including delivery.

Another honourable mention today is the Coco & Eli cot bedding sets, available exclusively from The Hip Infant.  I have in fact just bought one of these sets for my soon-to-arrive baby, and I absolutely love it. The 100% cotton fabric is stretchy and soft, and the colours and design are gorgeous.  I made up the cot with it today and spent about half an hour just happily fussing over it – but maybe I shouldn’t admit that on the internet…

KAS Kids doona sets are currently 20% off at The Little Kidz Closet, and it’s a great chance to snap up this beautiful brand. Classic children’s designs (e.g., trucks and boats for boys and apples and birds for girls) are given a new lease on life with this brand, and the results are really quite beautiful.  There’s a range of stylish accessories too.

Lastly, crisp and stylish British brand Olli & Lime is now available at ele-ahbaant so you no longer have to source it from overseas.  A surefire favourite for anyone who’s not a fan of cutesy bunnies and flowers on their kids’ bedlinen, Olli & Lime designs are perfect for the modern babe.

In rows from top left:
Three Little Trees ‘Ichi Ni’ Bedding – Japanese Flower Print, Cot $94.95, Single $109.95
byGraziela Duvet Set, Cot size £34.00; Single size £54.00
Three Little Trees ‘Ichi Ni’ Bedding – Flying Birds Print, Cot $94.95, Single $109.95
Coco & Eli Cot Bedding Sets in Buttermilk/Blue and Buttermilk/Pink, $99.95
KAS Kids Quilt Set – Vroom Vroom,
$89.95 $71.96
KAS Kids Quilt Set – Little Apples,
$89.95 $71.96
Olli & Lime Bedding Set, $134.95

As always, please check individual sites for postage details, and have a look at the KidStyleFile All Current Deals page to make sure you’re getting the best deal on your purchase.

The Wait is Over at 9 Months Waiting: 20% off Store-wide for 1 Week Only

Posted: May 21st, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

With only a couple of months left until my second child arrives, I spent a morning a few days ago sorting through my first son’s newborn things.  As they’re due in opposite seasons I’m not going to get nearly as much use out of his baby clothes as I’d thought, so I’m going to need to supplement them.  Fine by me – any excuse to go shopping for baby clothes!

Naturally, the very first place I headed to was 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – because I know that Cathy always has a wonderful range of baby clothes, bedding and baby accessories in stock.  In fact, she specialises in baby’s and mum’s needs for the first 12 months, which makes it an incredibly easy place to shop!  And as Cathy herself is also pregnant (congratulations Cathy!!) I know that she understands what an expectant mum needs.

I went looking for baby wraps, and the first thing I saw was the Ergo Pouch Ergococoon (pictured at no. 2 below). What a brilliant concept! Babies are such wily little Houdinis when it comes to escaping their wraps, and although I got pretty good at wrapping my firstborn, my husband would be the first to admit that wrapping wasn’t exactly his forte.  Here’s a wrap that even he could get right in the middle of the night!

Cathy also has a brilliant range of baby sleeping bags which I swear by for keeping little wrigglers warm at night, and the new winter fashion is hip, hot and happening: Eternal Creation leads the way with bright colours and warm knits, while Three Little Trees is turning Japanese on us with stunning bird and animal prints. Such a refreshing change from fluffy bunnies, and so stylishly done.

Take 20% off at 9 Months Waiting until 28 May 2009 only with the code ‘KSF-20′.  You (and I!) can really go nuts with this kind of discount – it applies store-wide, so sale stuff too! – and remember that if your order total is over $100.00 you’ll also get free shipping. Let’s goooo shopping!!

Prices quoted in red below are after the KSF 20% discount, applicable until 28 May 2009 with code ‘KSF-20′.

Up to 50% off Sale at 9 Months Waiting: Summer Stock at Bargain Basement Prices

Posted: March 15th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

………………………………………………………………………………………………

I’m now coming up to the fifth month of my wait to meet my baby, and although it’s a long wait, luckily for me I have stores like 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – to help keep me occupied.

9 Months Waiting is one of my favourites at any time, due in no small part to Cathy’s meticulous selection of the best, most adorable and most practical baby goods on the market today.  But what makes it even better is when Cathy throws one of her legendary sales – like this one!

At the moment there’s a large selection of fantastic summer stock in a great range of baby sizes… and it’s up to 50% off!!!

I have it on good authority that a good portion of the sale items here are actually offered below cost price!  Seriously people, you won’t find brands like the ones below at these prices often so snap them up while you can!  The sale ends on 31 March, so don’t say you weren’t warned ;)

First on my lengthy list of favourites are the Tees 2 Knees short sleeve t-shirts, which are slashed from $29.95 down to $15.00. With the cutest little applique designs around (for both boys and girls), sewn onto beautifully soft cotton, these tees are brilliant both for your own baby or to give as presents.  I’ve just added three of them in different designs to my basket.

There is also a fab selection of Eternal Creation baby outfits which are hugely popular, and deservedly so. Designed and made in the Himalayas, this brand is growing exponentially, and isn’t very often offered at discounts like the ones at 9MW.

If that wasn’t enough to get you drooling over your keyboard, get a load of this: also included in the sale are Bonds, Lotus Linens, Living Textiles Company, Marquise, Three Little Trees and more. I don’t know how else to make it clear: this sale is a big one and it’s not going to be repeated any time soon. Get over there quick!

Prices quoted in red are applicable until 31 March 2009 only.

1. Eternal Creation Rouched Swing Top With Contrast Knickers, $52.95 $29.95
2. Eternal Creation Barbados Romper, $43.95 $21.95
3. Lotus Linens Bamboo Long Sleeve Bodysuit, $24.95 $17.95
4. Bonds Long Sleeve Bodysuit, $15.50 $10.00
5. Tees 2 Knees Betty Bird Short Sleeve Top, $29.95 $15.00
6. Bonds Pink Mondial Leggings, $11.50 $9.50
7. Bonds Coverall – Navy Stripe, $23.95 $18.95

9 Months Waiting: 15% off store-wide, incl. Sale Stock – Vanchi, Lotus Linens, Bonds Baby, Living Textiles, and more

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

If you’re expecting, or already the parent of a bub 12 months and under, 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au – is just for you.

Cathy at 9 Months Waiting has carefully researched her products to ensure the best range of babywear and essentials for the first 12 months.

Select from a great range of basics from Marquise and Bonds (be sure to buy a size up in Bonds, as it is known for its small sizings), divine fashion pieces from Three Little Trees, Baobab, Eternal Creation, and Tees 2 Knees, well priced bedding essentials from Living Textiles and Lotus Linens, and luxe, yet affordable baby bags from Vanchi, who also make the world’s best large sized baby wraps.

I recently met Sarah from Vanchi in person, and had a good look at the entire Vanchi range. I was particularly keen to see the baby wraps, as I had heard so many good things.

Available in both cotton/elastane and 100% cotton muslin varieties, these wraps are a lovely quality. Sarah has put on extra effort into making these wraps just perfect: the stretch in the muslin wraps is across the grain, ensuing that you can pull the wrap nice and snug to your baby’s body, without straining the fabric, or distressing your bub. Another huge benefit of these wraps is their generous sizing. At 180×100 cm you can use these quality wraps as a stylish beach sarong once their work as a baby snuggler is done!

Vanchi baby bags really are gorgeous, and so affordable. My faves are the oriental fabrics. If you’re a fan too, don’t miss the matching Vanchi ‘Change and Away’ pouches, which make changing on the go a snap.

If you’re looking for extra special basics for your little one, or are seeking the softest bassinet or cot sheeting for your babe, then stop by and check out Lotus Linens at 9MW. Lotus Linens products are made of 70% bamboo and 30% certified organic cotton fibres, which feel incredibly soft and cool to the touch. Everything You Need For Baby at 9 Months Waiting, PLUS a 15% Discount for KSF Readers

If you’re already a mum, or especially if you’re currently pregnant, then you’ll fully appreciate the beautiful site 9 Months Waiting – www.9monthswaiting.com.au.  Specialising in babywear and essentials for the first 12 months, you’ll find everything you need to clothe your precious little bundle.

Nine months is a long time to wait to meet your baby, but it’s probably a good thing as it gives you a chance to get used to the idea, to prepare yourself for parenthood (even the second or third or fourth time around!) and of course, to do all the shopping you need to do.  After all, even second and subsequent babies deserve to have something new and special just for themselves, something that isn’t a hand-me-down!  You’re spoiled for choice at 9MW.

The great thing about 9 Months Waiting is that although Cathy is careful only to stock brands of the highest quality in fabric and workmanship, none of their products break the bank.  You can choose from Bonds or Marquise for everyday pieces which will hold their shape and softness, Baobab for something a bit different (you’ll love the feel of the Baobab pieces), and Eternal Creation for sweet little ‘going out’ outfits.  There are also Trees 2 Knees and Three Little Trees tees and rompers which are just adorable, and very individual.

New to 9 Months Waiting is the Bonds range, and I have to say, this is the most brilliant range for every-day basics you could ever find.  My son lived in Bonds Wondersuits for the first couple of months of his life, and they were his winter PJs until he was over a year old.  Bonds pieces wash incredibly well and they last forever – I would recommend thinking about buying a size up though, as the sizing is on the small side.

I definitely recommend checking out 9MW’s cot and bassinet bedding range too.  There are some very handy packs including the super-good-value 8 Piece Starter Set from Living Textiles (great quality, even better value), and I also love the deliciously soft Lotus Linens Bamboo bassinet and cot sheet sets which are high on my list of ‘must haves’ for next time around.

Now for the great news: KidStyleFile readers can take 15% off store-wide at 9 Months Waiting before 15th February 2009.  Just enter the code ‘KSF15′ at checkout.
