Yesterday’s Winter Solstice is my cue to start thinking about the next season. A bit early, you may think, but I like to plan the central theme of my kidlets wardrobe far in advance. This allows me to budget, and search for complementary pieces that together will create what I think is the perfect get-up.

It’s hard to believe it’s only been a year since Jodie Hampshire created her already iconic brand of children’s clothing: Aunty Ollie – www.auntyollie.com.  Her collections have taken off in such a huge way that it seems as though they’ve been around forever, but actually right at the moment it’s Aunty Ollie’s first birthday!

Hats off to all of you who are wonderfully creative! I love it when people can see a fantastic idea, pull together all the necessary aspects of their design and ‘voila’: a magical creation for all the world to see. Alas, I am not one of these, however, I do have a little secret up my sleeve in the form of one very funky ‘aunty’! Designer Jodie Hampshire, aka Aunty Ollie – www.auntyollie.com has done what I never could in forming her very special clothing label.

With finesse, Jodie has selected bold print fabrics, paired them together with clean cut clothing lines,  added in a strong measure of individuality and here you have it: her collection of Aunty Ollie fashion for babies, boys, girls and women alike! Beautifully made and with incredible attention to detail, each piece is destined to become a well-loved and well-worn favourite.

The AW’10 winter range has some great tops and shirts for boys (see them here and here); though today I’m leaving you to discover them for yourself, as I rush to show you the delicious pieces on offer for girls this winter.

First mention goes to the gorgeous girls skirts. Each of the three styles, ‘Peekaboo’, ‘Boho’ and ‘Flippy’ are made from a gorgeous print fabric (the signature feature of all Aunty Ollie creations); they are all all fully lined for winter and all three styles come with a ‘drop dead gorgeous’ rating when worn with a simple long sleeve T! How effortlessly chic is that?!

To suit the milder Autumn days, for girls Aunty Ollie has the ‘Wrap top’ and the ‘Quick, Outside Top’  This second, delightfully named number is shown below at #5  in mauve and it’s my favourite for active little girls.  I have it on good ‘aunty’ authority that it looks super cute when worn over skinny leg jeans or leggings with ballet pumps or little converse! Can you see it?! I totally can!

Then, as the days cool down, there are another two styles to choose from: the ‘Museum Moocher Top’ and the ‘Daddy Hoodie’  – both fully lined for extra warmth this winter. I love the ‘Geisha Print’ as shown below at #4. My baby girl has an Aunty Ollie dress in this print, and every time she wears it we receive beautiful compliments on how delightfully different it is. I cheekily reply that a very special aunty designed it for her!!

As is often the case with the best kids fashion, you may find yourself thinking ‘I wish that came in my size’…well with Aunty Ollie, your dreams are realised in the small, but immaculately formed, Aunty Ollie Ladies range.
