Don’t Miss this – Stocktake Mania at kounia-bella: 35% off Store-wide = Up to 95% off Sale Stock!!!

Posted: June 17th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

………………………………………………………………………………………………

More than summertime, more than my birthday, almost more than Christmas, I love stocktake sale time.  It’s so exciting seeing all the big red signs come out in shop windows and wondering which beautiful things I’ve been wanting that I’ll finally be able to afford.

And as you’ll have been noticing, online stores do stocktake sales just as well – and in many cases, better! – than their bricks-and-mortar counterparts.

Take kounia-bella – www.kounia-bella.com.au – for example. Both an online store and a beautiful bricks-and-mortar shop in Oakleigh, Melbourne, K-B are throwing their literal and virtual doors wide open with a spectacular stocktake sale. Just *how* good is this stocktake sale, do I hear you ask?

Well get this: a massively ginormous 35% off store-wide! Yep, sale stock (much of it already at up to 60% off) is included here, so you can walk away with treats from Australia’s most highly coveted boutique children’s brands at prices so tiny you could use the spare change from down the back of the sofa! To claim your 35% store-wide discount, enter ‘0609KSFOFFER35%’ at checkout until midnight 30 June 2009.  Alternatively, Melbournites can visit the gorgeous beautiful shop in Oakleigh.

kounia-bella really do stock the creme de la creme of the kidswear industry. Given that they cover brands like Bebe by Minihaha, Woof!, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, Enfant by Collette Dinnigan, Tea Princess and many, many more, this sale is truly remarkable – when else and where else are you going to see these designers’ current season ranges marked down so heavily?

I just have to mention the kounia-bella exclusive cupcake kits by Sweetiepie Cakes too: with the discount they’re down from $42.00 to $27.30! Making professional-quality cupcakes has never been easier!

The sale category, as I mentioned above, has some serious discounts already in place too: up to 60% off summer pieces from those same sought after brands I’ve just listed, and you can use the 35% discount on top of that!  I’ll let you do the maths on that one, but suffice to say you’re paying well below cost price on sale stock here. Baaaaargain!

The prices quoted in red below include the 35% KSF discount and are valid until 30 June 2009.

KidStyleFile Special Feature: Super Shoes for Little Feet

Posted: May 15th, 2009

Today’s post written by Miki

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Hi, my name’s Miki and I’m a self-confessed kids’ shoe addict.

I’m not alone: KSF readers Jodi and Melanie recently requested a post on shoes and boots for little feet, and I am more than happy to oblige! (In fact, I have been wanting an excuse to sit down and hunt out some awesome little shoes as my son (nearly two) has just grown out of his last pair of Pedipeds and his Walnuts are still too big for him – and that’s not as rude as it sounds!)

So, where to begin?  Well, with winter approaching it seems sensible to look for boots – after all, we mums love to wear our boots in winter so who’s to say that the kids don’t too?  Luckily there are boots galore in all sorts of sizes to suit all sorts of ages, and both girls and boys.  Have a look at the image collage below for some of my faves.

Sneakers are always a goer regardless of your child’s age or gender.  Take them anywhere, do anything in them; they can be teamed with the girliest of tutus or the most macho jeans and shirts you can imagine.  I think every child should have at least one or two pairs of sneakers!

Don’t forget that babies and young toddlers should be in soft-soled shoes until several months after walking has been established. Plenty of research shows that babies’ feet develop best when they learn to walk barefoot, and soft soled shoes are a good alternative where bare feet just aren’t practical.  The soft little leather shoes from brands such as Robeez, Star Child, Beautiful Soles and Skeanie are also great for protecting crawlers’ feet.

Well without further ado, here are my picks for the cutest kids’ shoes and boots this season! Enjoy!

1. Baby Chick Pink Boots, $95.00 from Kounia-Bella
2. Luxurious Cream Loafers, $49.95 from Skeanie
3. Morgan & Milo LTT Oxford – Red/Orange,

4. Walnut Desert Boots – Navy, $59.95 from Urban Child
5. LelliKelly Iris Laces Sequinned Boots,

6. Beautiful Soles Silver Rock Star Baby Shoe,
$39.90 $29.95 from Bubba Funk
7. Star Child Cherry Baby, $39.95 from Chic Kids
8. Scandeez Baby Leather Brown Moks,
$35.00 $21.00 from Soda Pop Kids
9. Walnut Mary Janes – French Navy Spot, $29.95 from Urban Child
10. Samvara Navaho Cowboy Boot – Chocolate, $114.00 from Bubba Funk
11. Fire Engine Red Boots, $39.95 from Skeanie
12. Robeez Guitar Soft-Soled Baby Shoes, $57.00 from Kounia-Bella
13. Jack & Lily Love Birds – Chocolate, $54.95 from Little Styles

PS Polka also make a gorgeous girl’s boot, the Mika-Lu, which Ange’s girls have for this winter, for just $88.00. Hit up Raspberry Rascals to behold the goodness. Check sizing with them before your purchase.

As always, please check individual sites for postage details, and have a look at the KidStyleFile All Current Deals page to make sure you’re getting the best deal on your purchase.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

I can’t believe I had never visited kounia-bella – www.kounia-bella.com.au – until today!  What rock have I been hiding under?  It’s a beautiful, beautiful online store and stocks a range of all that I love best: Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, Bebe by Minihaha, Mamas & Papas, Woof! and a whole lot more.  There’s new stock arriving all the time! (In fact, brand new Minihaha, Lelli Kelly, Bebe, and Bebe Jnr just did, right before my eyes!)

Helen and her team, who run the kounia-bella online store, and the stunning bricks-and-mortar store of the same name in Oakleigh, Melbourne, are both selective and creative when choosing what to stock.  The result is wonderful: top quality fashion and footwear, furniture, soft toys and keepsake gifts, for kidlets from some of Australia’s most popular boutique brands, a thoughtful selection of gifts, and bedding your little one will beg to snuggle down in.  I could go on for a very long time!

I love the new Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Pure range, which has combined natural fibres, deliciously soft textures and a gently muted palate.  If I was a baby, this is the stuff I’d want to wear.  It all just looks so comfortable, and it’s more than attractive enough to keep the parents happy too!

I am also impressed by the Sweetiepie Cupcake Kits.  I love to bake, but while my efforts tend to be edible, you wouldn’t often know it to see them.  I think I need to get my hands on a Sweetie Pie cupcake kit, as I’m reliably told that it’s almost impossible NOT to end up with professional looking results!  I appreciate the way Sweetie Pie have made kits with boyish themes as well as girly ones; it makes it so much easier to get boys interested in cooking when everything isn’t pink!

(Making your hungry? Here are some pix of the cupcakes in action in the k-b store in Oakligh – yum!)

If you need even more reasons to visit Kounia-Bella, how’s this for a good one: KidStyleFile readers can take a whopping 20% off store-wide until 30 April! Yes, that’s 20% off all new stock and also off all sale stock, some of which is already discounted by 50% or more.  YOWSERS!!  Enter ‘KSF0409′ at checkout.

Don’t forget to take 20% off these prices using the code ‘KSF0409′, valid until 30 April 2009!

The Winter ‘09 Roundup: Luxe Knits to Cosy Up To

Posted: March 27th, 2009

Today’s post written by Kat

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Snuggling into a lush, cosy knit is one of the simple joys of Winter. Ok, so the weather report tonight saw all capital cities hitting the mid-20’s, but it’s definitely the time of year to snap up a cardi or two, rub the soft, soft fabric against your cheek (surely we all do this?!) and store it carefully til the mercury drops.

1). Handmade is no longer the domain of the daggy; no siree, it is in fact now the epitome of hip. If your Nanna can’t knit, find another who can – Etsy is choc full of other people’s handmade goodness, and many sellers will take personalised orders. It’s a fast ticket to instant playground cred!

GrannysKnits is a hit with celebs, with these funky Letter Sweaters (US$50) in high demand. HandKnitHugs have gorgeous, simple knits like this Stripe button through cardi (US$36), while I was enchanted by the gorgeous blue of EveldasNeverland soft kimono cardi (US$32). Too cute!

2). Minihaha got a mention last week in our Coats special, but this week again I’m going to point you in the direction of kounia-bella for beautiful knits for boys and girls. Is there anything cuter than a preppy Argyle Vest ($49.50, Bebe Jnr by Minihaha) on a little man? And possibly the prettiest cardi of the season, the Trixie Lollipop cardigan by Minihaha ($74) is a soft angora blend and perfect for princesses in pink.

3). ShopHouse have all Oobi’s must-have knits, including the ever so cute Cable Knit Cardi ($64.95; grey, white or red) and the playfully vintage Nanna’s Strawberry Knit Cardi ($44.95). Love the strawberry buttons! If you haven’t had an Oobi knit with their adorable little bear ears on the hood, I strongly suggest it. Everyone you meet will stop and admire your cute-as-a-button child.

4). Purebaby has always featured strongly in my daughter’s wardrobe, and even though she’s nearly outgrown the size 2’s *sob* I’m determined to squeeze every last organic drop out of the pieces we have. Yes, that has meant knitted pinnys in summer, but with bare legs and sandals, it looks rather cute. (And also like I haven’t washed any of her sundresses…)

This season, the Knitted Vest ($54.95) is on my (wish)list, while the single button Knitted Cardigan ($54.95) is a super cool new spin on an old classic. Little boys can rug up in their own Knitted Vest with a cool front pocket ($44.95) or slip on a funky Knitted Jumper ($49.95). Yes, it has a pig on it. They’ll love it.

5). Let’s face it, Europeans do winter to a T. If a bit of Euro-style is what your child’s wardrobe wants, head to Charlipop Kids for a great range of brands including 3 Pommes, Alphabet, Krickets and Oilily.

For just $34.45, this glam grey cardi by Krickets is so girly and chic, while  I’ve just gone and had a bit of a coo over the cute deisgns by Alphabet, including the Les Petite Parisiennes Black Knit cardi ($39). Little boys won’t mind that you put them in a beige cardi when the see the cute teddy bear patch (Alphabet, $29) and they can even rock the uber-chic Apres look with this funky Krickets Baffin Isle Hooded Knit ($35). Even Nanna would approve of this one.

6). Little indulgence for girly girls now – Tea Princess, readily available at La Toriana, is quickly gaining a huge following, and it’s easily to see why. Whimsical, vintage styles are made thoroughly modern, and completely adorable, in a beautiful range of knits, frocks and accessories. A little crochet cardigan for newborns is such a classic piece you’ll want to keep forever ($35.96 on sale); while the Pink Vintage Cardi ($54.95, available April) is so wonderfully girly and just right for tea parties.

7). Emperor’s Laundry is a range I came across at a trade show last year. The designs are simple, unique and have a real old-world charm about them. The Bamboo Cotton Knits ($45) come in pink, red, or green and are so lush and soft (oh, and they look pretty darn cool too!) They also do gorgeous knit dresses and charming hair accessories; and though none of these come with an addiction warning, consider this a stern hint…

Please check individual stores for postage and delivery information.

Autumn/Winter ‘09 Fashion Roundup – Hot Picks of the New Season

Posted: March 13th, 2009

Today’s post written by Kat

………………………………………………………………………………………………

It’s that time of year again…summer is being cleared out to make way for my personal fave fashion season – the cosy knits and gorgeous jackets of Autumn/Winter ‘09! Here’s part one of our sneak peek at what some of our fav labels are offering, with everything trickling into stores as we speak (well, read):

Oobi

I know this is a firm favourite with all you loyal KSF-ers, and you can view their new season collection on their website right now, with stockists including Baby’s Got Style, ShopHouse, and Urban Child. I admit we’ve already indulged a little, with the cute hooded Owl Print dress (very Scandinavian) and the print also comes in Hoodies! They’ve also redone the popular Cord Dresses – this season’s addition is Red – and the eternally cute Little Bear Hoodie Jackets (hoods with ears, bless) in navy/red stripe. Other notable pieces include the Cable Knit Cardis and beautiful Cord Peacoats (navy or red). Yes folks, classic-cute dressing with quirky modern touches just doesn’t get better than this!

Eeni Meeni Miini Moh

The exquisite designs of EMMM are available right now at Kounia Bella, with a huge selection from newborn to tween sizes. For girls, the Marshmallow Trench ($129) gets two very enthusiastic thumbs-up (you can never be too young to learn about a classic cut!), as does the Gauge Knit Dress ($99) and the Balloon Dress ($84) for a little-girl look that’s big on style. Boys can work their tres cool Grass Stain Jeans ($94) with a rockstar Stripe Scarf ($39)  and matching Tshirt (from $51); while little people are spoiled for choice – cover up in the funkiest jumpsuits around ($69), keep warm in a long-sleeved romper ($44) or team a sweet babydoll dress ($49) with knitted tights and a beanie for warmth and style! And don’t forget their adorable bibs and blankies…

Baobab

Belinda Blooman’s label just keeps getting better and better. There’s a cool new Racer print this season, which looks awesome on their thoughtfully designed Kimono Hoodies ($45.95) and Hoody Tees ($47.95) – choose from baby blue, red or a lovely warm chocolate brown. New tee prints include a Plane and funky racing car ($37.95ea), while the ever poopular girl’s long sleeved dresses have a pretty bow or come covered in the Racer print ($45.95ea) - with some patterned tights and a big chunky knit cardi they will just look superb!

Bebe by Minihaha

My daughter is too ‘growned-up’ for this beautiful label now, but that doesn’t stop my endless cooing over it…this season, I fell in love with the Tatum Cord Dress ($49.95; there’s also an adorable romper in the same print for $38.95) for it’s girly ribbon detail and whimiscal mishmash of print. I pondered it for a long time before it was time to admit that size 2 was just not going to fit my rapidly growing tot *sigh*. Anyway, you can view other coo-worthy pieces on their website, with stockists including Ekidna Kids, The Fairy Jardin and Pastel Pink. The Denim Multi Print Pinafore and Chelsea Double Breasted Knit Cardigan all get my vote, while in the boy’s JR range, the Hunter Grandpa Tee is a cool classic, the Charcoal Stripe Lambswool Jumper looks as slick as it does cosy, and the Stripey l/s rompers with feet are just perfect for keeping little toes toasty all season!

In rows, top to bottom: Oobi, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh; Baobab, Bebe & JR.

*Not all styles available at all stockists; please contact individual retailers for details.

Kounia-Bella: New Season’s Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Now In-Store

Posted: February 24th, 2009

Today’s post written by Angela

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Just a quick note to let you know that Autumn/Winter 2009 Eeni Meeni Miini Moh has landed at Kounia-Bella – www.kounia-bella.com.au.

Select from an extensive selection of the Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Pure Newborn (0-3 months) and Seasonal Collections Apparel (0-12 years) ranges.

As always, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh designer Elizabeth O’Conner-Cowley, has realised a beautiful collection true to EMMM’s signature design style of line, form, colour and texture.

I truly love Eeni Meeni Miini Moh: the muted palette of soft, matt, cottons, brings elements of nature into the designs, which harmonises so well with the natural perfection of children, and the cut and detailing – unusal appliques, naive-styled illustration, and structural elements – is always a thrill. EMMM pieces are very wearable and easy care, and go from the park to a party without batting an eyelid.

A special note to Mums of girls: the Eeni Meeni Miini Moh headbands are the best on the market, featuring a wide band across the front, and tapering to a narrow, elasticised back, these are a band worth buying: not only do they look great, they stay on! Proof that I walk my talk: you can see a pic of one of my daughters in her EMMM band on the homepage of the pre-school we attend.

While you are over at Kounia-Bella don’t miss their 50-80% off sale section to scoop up last season’s Eeeni Meeni Miini Moh, and a plethora of other fine brands, for a song.

Kounia-Bella charge from $9.00 standard postage, and $12.00 Express Post. Orders over $150.00 are shipped free* (*conditions apply). See the Kounia-Bella shipping info page for full details. Kounia-Bella also run a fabulous VIP Loyalty Club. For every dollar you spend on non-sale items, you get a 10% credit off your next purchase. Read the full details here. Leave a note in the comments/notes area at checkout if any of your purchases are gifts and take advantage of Kounia-Bella’s free (and stunning!) wrap service.

Part 2: Stay Cool – Summer Frocks at Hot Prices

Posted: February 13th, 2009

Today’s post written by Kat

Welcome to Part 2 of our ‘Stay Cool’l two-part summer fashion special. Today Kat gets her frock on to check out summer dresses for girls. Have a boy? check out Part 1: Boys Picks to keep your little man cool in the summer sun.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Whether you’re 2 or 32, there’s nothing quite like a breezy summer frock for just slipping into when the weather heats up. So, following on from last week’s post about hip buys for little dudes, this week it’s time for some girliness: KSF presents a rundown on the hottest frocks for keeping cool on sweltering summer days!

You may have noticed that here at KSF we rave about a brand called Daily Tea. If you haven’t tried it, I would highly recommend it – they’re beautifully made, the prints are simple and delightful, and they last wash after wash. They should come with a warning though; much like good tea, they are pleasantly addictive! You can browse a large array at Where Did You Get That?, including the Fan Flower Drop Waist Dress (on sale, $22.37), the Flower Dot Dress (on sale, $22.37), and the Floral Tank Dress (on sale, $18.55).

There’s yet even more Daily Tea available at Ele-ahbaant – check out the new season Cherry Blossoms Dress ($37.75) or the super cute vintage inspired Multi Dot Banded Dress ($37.75).

Another couple of my fave labels, Little Leona by Leona Edmiston and Big by Fiona Scanlan also now have online stores, yay! Check out the Sale section at the Leona Edmiston site for huge bargains for yourself and your little princess (who’ll look even more the part in the Talitha Tulle Dress , $79.95, sizes 1-7) and you can also keep tabs on new season stock without battling department store crowds. Also check Appleseed Child for out of this world bargains on Little Leona frocks.

The gorgeous Big by Fiona Scanlan site has all the new stuff as well as some beautiful summer and trans-seasonal frocks (just add tights and a skivvy for winter): I love the very pretty Petal Print Dress ($79.95, sizes 2-8) in the hottest hue of the season, navy, while the cool folk inspired (let’s not go near “foho”) Paisley Print Top ($64.95, sizes 2-8) would have a place in my wardrobe if it came in mummy-sizes!

Kounia-Bella stocks a huge ranges of gorgeous frocks from drool-worthy (yours as well as bub’s) labels such as Collette Dinnigan Enfant, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, Ouch, Bebe by Minihaha, Tea Princess, Emilie et Rose…get a hanky for excess dribble ’cos they have a 40% off summer sale on…(eew, sorry)…this simple white pinny by Ouch would look great with a bright tee or tank (on sale, $19.61, sizes 1-7),  while at the other end of the scale, the Loletta dress by Collette Dinnigan Enfant ($180, 6-12 months) is a beautiful keepsake for generations of hot summers. Or, for the designer look without the price tag, grab the Bebe Junior by Minihaha White Lace Dress ($24 on sale) for a cute and cool (in every sense) girly look!

Over at Itty Bitty Yuppy, there’s no shortage of beautiful designer looks…at half the price on their bulging sale rack (woohoo!).  The Egg & Avocado June Dress (on sale, $38.97, sizes 2-6) just got added to my cart (I’m a sucker for hot pink, and my daughter is too young to complain about it), while the Freshbaked Summer Dress (on sale, $29.22, 3-6) is the most perfectly summery shade of blue. Mill & Mia fans, rejoice, because there’s 35% off beautiful pieces like the Stripe Tshirt Dresses (on sale, $45.47, sizes 1-6); or if you’re a fan of quirky retro prints, a Pink Chicken frock such as the Sasha Dress (on sale, $53.59, sizes 2-6) is just the ticket.

After something all natural (as opposed to au naturale, the under 5’s globally preferred style of choice)? Mini Eco stocks gorgeous organic garments, including the Lark Retro Baby Dress (on sale, $19, sizes 3m-12m) with it’s vintage print/modern design combo (result: super cute!), and this classic Polka Dot Dress (on sale, $25, sizes 12m-6y). Over at Purebaby you can pick up the organic Racer Back summer dress in Stripe or Gumnut (on sale, $22.46, sizes 000-2), while Pastel Pink stock a nice big range of Gaia Organics – check out the beautiful Prairie Feather Dress (on sale, $24.72, sizes 000-4)  or the pretty Rosebud Dress in pink or white (on sale, $19.98, sizes 000-0).

I could go on for years about frocks actually, but on a final note for today, you simply can’t go past Baobab for gorgeous basics and gorgeous bargains – the Tank Dresses (on sale, $33.60, sizes 1-6) are unbelievably stylish and breezy, in 4 colourways and prints (I’m a fan of the black, it looks truly wicked with a dash of pink accessory!); or the Raglan Striped Dress (on sale, $36.80, sizes 1-6) for some easy beachy-cool!
