One of the first bonding experiences I had with my twin daughters happened before they were born, while I was in the process of designing their nursery. I pictured them in their new cots, looking out at all the beautiful hand-picked items in their new nursery, and hoped my babies would have a sense of home and family right from the start. When a new baby is expected, often one of the ‘big budget items’ on the parents’ shopping list is a bassinet.  Speaking from experience, bassinets are lovely to have as you can have the baby right next to your bed at arm’s reach, ideal for those early months when bonding is so important and night feeds are frequent.  As with all baby items nowadays there is a huge amount of choice – do you want your bassinet to be traditional, modern, hammock, rocking or gliding, Moses basket or perhaps organic?  So much choice is wonderful but it’s also a double edged sword; it can be a bit overwhelming for first-time parents to know what it is that they’re after.
