Easter Fashion for Every Taste

Posted: April 3rd, 2009

Today’s post written by Kat

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

I have to admit something: I am not a fan of theme-dressing. Sparkly christmas earrings give me hives; licenced kidswear causes nausea.

So, thinking about ‘Easter Fashion’ I nearly choked on my Creme egg (theme-chocolates I can handle).

Thankfully, I’ve realised you can be cheerfully festive and dressed to impress, without the need for fluffy bunny ears…(though if you can’t resist, try the hip version: Rock Your Baby’s Rabbit knit hat, available at Baby’s Got Style for $29.95. Adorable!)

Nanny Pickle’s Bad Bunny Collection is so cute and cheeky it wins my vote for rabbit-themed clobber. Clobber, though, is a bit harsh, because this collection is made from supersoft bamboo and organic fabrics that are just luscious to touch, and come complete with important life lessons such as “Eat your Crusts” and “Don’t Run With Scissors”. Hehe! You can find the Bad Bunny at La Toriana from $19.95.

Cradlerock have a handy Easter section which includes these funky rabbit tees and hoody by Tiny Mammoth (designed by Beci Orphin of Princess Tina fame). How cool is this unique take on a gorgeous vintage print?!

Quinn Macool’s take on bunny prints is, erm, cool! From the cute retro “I Believe” (aaw!) to the “How To Draw A Bunny” tee, perfect for little artistes, you can personalise everything to your taste and nab a nifty new tee for only $22!

But if the only bunnies you want to see this Easter are of the chocolate variety, you could instead have fun putting together a gorgeous new outfit to celebrate:

Baby: Keep little ones warm and snug with a funky romper from Onesies – you’d be hard pressed to go past the simple and chic prints from Danish label Nanoou ($42, 0-12 months), teamed with this versatile, soft velour hat by Gertie & Me ($9.95) and gorgeous matching booties ($9.95; both available at The Hip Infant) for maximum aw-factor. You could also add a sweet little cardi like this one from Purebaby ($32.47 on sale from Just Ripe) for extra warmth and cuteness!

Little Boys: If Nanna’s going to be at Easter lunch, it might be wise to leave your rock’n'roll tees at home, and go for a timeless piece like this Wonderboy Stripe tee ($39.95, 6m-7Y, from Itty Bitty Yuppy). Work it with some classic denim (Munster Stovey 2 Jeans, $80, sizes 2-10; from Tiny People) and retro cool trainers – Adidas Country Stripe, $59.95, sizes US4-10; from Kido Store). If it’s cool, skip the hoody and go for a smart jacket like the Steve Mac coat from Freshbaked (on sale for $29.95 at BabysGotStyle). Watch out, ladies!

Little Girls: We all know how spoilt for choice little girls are now days when it comes to fashion – it’s hard to narrow down a party frock but this week my pick is Polka’s Black Birdy Frou Dress ($99, sizes 3-7; from BabysGotStyle). Accessorise with a slouchy knitted hat (Toshi, $18.95) and ribbed tights for a nice play on texture (Marquise knit tights, $9.95, both also from BabysGotStyle) - or try printed legwarmers scrunched at the ankle if you’re really cool (Huggalugs, $14.50 on sale from My Baby Rocks). Shoes? Yunginz Classeez ($59.95) are pretty enough for every occassion!

Please check individual stores for postage and delivery details. Always check the KSF All Current Deals page to see if you are eligible for any discount.

The Best Onesies in the World: Take 20% off everything PLUS Win 1 of 3 $100 Wardrobes at Onesies.com.au

The new winter stock has arrived at Onesies – www.onesies.com.au – and it’s too cute for words!

Alice at Onesies has selected the most adorable one piece baby outfits from brands such as Purebaby, Bebe by Minihaha, Gaia and Nanoou, to name but a few of the brands stocked, and for anyone with a baby under 12 months (or expecting one!) you’ve just gotta check ‘em out.

And what gives this feast of baby goodies a sense of urgency is this: KSF readers can take 20% off store-wide at Onesies – yes, including the brand new winter stock AND sale items – for one week only, starting right now and finishing on the 17th of March 2009.

Enter the code ‘KSF’ at checkout to get the discount, and be quick about it!

If you already have a child then you’ll know all about how wonderful one piece suits are for babies, but if you are expecting your first little one then take it from me: your new bundle will not want to wear anything but one piece suits (onesies) for at least the first three months, and then will wear them for a good portion of the time for the remainder of his or her first year.

The thing about onesies is that they’re comfortable for babies – no constricting waistbands or harsh fabrics – and easy for parents, as they all offer prompt access to the nappy and are easy to put on and remove. Everyone’s happy!

With my second baby on the way, I’ve learned my lesson from the first time around. Little pairs of jeans and hoodies are all very cute and everything, but tiny newborn babies just aren’t suited to wearing that kind of gear. It’s onesies all the way for my bub when he or she arrives, which is not exactly a hardship when you look at the images below to see how adorable the ones Alice stocks at Onesies are!

Now just before I sign off for today, let me tell you about this fab competition Alice is holding: Onesies newsletter subscribers are all in the draw to win 3 x $100 Onesies wardrobes! All you have to do is make sure you’re a Onesies subscriber, so if you aren’t already then follow the links on the Onesies homepage to join up. The competition ends on the 31st of March 2009.

Don’t forget that you can take 20% off all these prices by using the code ‘KSF’ at checkout, but only until midnight on March 17 2009!

Can I keep Him? Can I?? Pleeeease? Animal Tees to Fall in Love With

Posted: March 6th, 2009

Today’s post written by Kat

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

In a complete 180 from last week’s post about hip tees that rock, this week it’s all about cuter-than-cute animals. Check out the parade of offerings that you and your child are sure to want to take home.

1). For something truly original, check out the funky designs by Hamb. Made in Australia, their kids range has everything from dogs to dinosaurs, donkeys to kittys ($39ea). I love the scribbled, bold prints and they also do parent sized tees too! Hooray!

2). Another Aussie label I am loving is Monkey-Do, designed and manufactured in Melbourne. We (well, my daughter) have the Dragon Tee ($38) raring to go for winter, but you could also go for a bug named Splat ($42) or even take your animals to bed with you with the Cat Amongst the Pigeons PJ set ($32) or Giraffe nightie ($28).

3). Not yet big enough for a tee? Luckily, Quilt Baby has a huge range of unbelievably cute handcrafted cotton onesies. From a Modern Butterfly to an adorable yellow Giraffe to spotty Elephants and Birds, you can buy directly from their US website (US$18 ea), or locally from stores including Onesies, Bubba Funk and Jivebaby.

4). Back in Oz, Lollipop Baby do simple, cute prints on tees and onesies from 3m-18m ($24.95ea). Here’s  a very cute little Piggy,  a way-cool fish , a stylish Giraffe and a gorgeous Birdie!

5). Like your animals cooler than cool? Then head to Tiny People for these wicked offerings: Mini Rodini have Bats ($49) and Bugs ($55); Minti do a very cool Owl ($39) or Tiger ($39); while Cried Wolf do a tongue-in-cheek Pig ($45) and the hippest Monkey ($45) ever!

6). If you’ve got loads of spare time, browse the wonderland of Etsy for literally hundered of pages of gorgeous, handmade kid’s tshirts. If you don’t have loads of spare time, luckily the hard work’s been done for you – shops worth a look include Appledonia for a CrazyHappyHippo, a Little Brown Mouse or a fabulous Butterfly (US$11 ea); SweetCouture have gorgeous appliques and a custom service, and I love the Owl (US$17.99), Turtle (US$29.99), and funky Shark tie tshirt (US$14.99); or Chocolatine for absolutely stunning, French-inspired designs – actually I love all of their stuff, but if it’s animals you’re after, they do a gorgeous Une Girafe (US$14.95), Un Elephant (US$14.95)and Un Herisson (Hedeghog, US$19.99).

7). For more handmade goodness on a local level, browse Madeit – I could stay on there all day fossicking through all the gorgeous treasures, but for delightful tees you can’t go past Grandy and Baa’s Milo Monkey ($25) or Frederika Fish ($25), and AppleJelly’s cute organic Dinosaur or  Owl ($29.95ea).

Take home an animal tee (or two) today!

Please check individual sites for postage and delivery details.

Onesie Heaven: Limited edition Itch Design onesies, PLUS 25% off all Purebaby growsuits!

Posted: November 10th, 2008

Today’s post written by Miki.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

On Friday last week, my dear friend Annie gave birth to a long-awaited, beautiful little IVF miracle baby named Jessica Grace.

As a very proud and excited honorary auntie, I’ve spent the weekend trawling through the internet trying to find the perfect present for a perfect baby girl.

I am happy to announce that I think I’ve got it!  I’m going to Onesies – www.onesies.com.au - and I’m stocking up on Purebaby growsuits for her.

I love Onesies because they stock only the best one-piece suits for babies from all my favourite designers, such as Bebe by Minihaha, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, Rock Your Baby, mill&mia and many more… plus, of course, my pick – Purebaby. And just to make my choice even easier, they offer FREE gift wrapping!

I adore Purebaby because every piece is made of the finest 100% organic cotton, so not only is it environmentally sensitive, it’s absolutely, exquisitely soft – perfect for a newborn’s delicate skin.  Trust me, once you’ve felt organic cotton you’ll never go back!

Purebaby pieces are also beautifully designed with a ‘modern classic’ feel to them.  The new season’s styles include soft terry towelling and nautical styles for boys and girls, and some adorable mint and green prints for girls.

They’re beautiful to look at, and as they’re also superb quality and divinely soft I think they make the perfect gift.  The hard part for me now is choosing which designs to buy – they’re all so gorgeous!

As I’m far from being the only fan of Purebaby at KidStyleFile, Alice from Onesies is giving us a huge 25% off all Purebaby – yes, that does include new season’s stock! – until 16 December.

Enter ‘purebaby’ at checkout to redeem this brilliant discount.

I’m thrilled, as that generous discount just means I can add more to my cart and spoil baby Jessica even more!

Now just before I sign off, I need to point out something else totally adorable I’ve just spotted at Onesies, which you won’t see anywhere else: the new limited edition Itch Design onesies!  It’s the first time Itch Design have done onesies, and these stunning designs are selling out quickly so grab ‘em while you still can – once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!

KidStyleFile Weekend Special Feature: Budget Friendly Buys – Designer Baby and Kids Fashion Under $25

Posted: October 26th, 2008

Today, Miki brings you a great selection of budget friendly finds. The current economic climate aside, it’s always great to grab a bargain, especially with Christmas approaching.  Enjoy!

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

My husband used to say that I have ‘champagne tastes on a beer budget’ when it comes to our son’s clothing. Not any more though!

I have thoroughly demonstrated that I can satisfy both the budget, and my taste for the finer things, through savvy shopping habits. And you can too!

It is possible to dress your kids in beautiful designer clothes on a shoestring budget with some careful shopping around.  The bargain hunting is actually a whole lot of fun!

So, given the current economic crisis and how we’re all being a bit careful with money at the moment, I thought I’d show you a few of my tricks to getting dirt cheap designer baby and kids clothes, books, toys and accessories.

First stop for anyone looking for discounted designer baby clothes, kids fashion, nursery goods, toys, and everything in between, always has to be that link in grey towards the top of the page, ‘All Current Deals‘.  We all love discount codes, and that link gives you a full rundown of everything we have running at the moment – easy!

Now that you know where the current promotions are happening, have a good browse around, making sure you stop in at sale, specials, and clearance sections.

Besides the discount codes and well stocked sale sections, a few other tips for you:

Buy at the end of the season in a bigger size for next year – you can get some fabulous bargains this way. For example, Bubba Funk currently have 40% off all winter stock, for example; Buckets & Spades have marked all of last year’s summer items down to $20 each (!!) and Kinder Kaboodle have  20% mark-downs on rain-wear – snap up some bargains and put them away for next winter.

I recently snapped up an Oobi beanie and mittens from Urban Child at around 50% off to put away for next winter – I can’t wait to bring them out next year as they’re so cute!

Naturally, many of the most heavily discounted items will only be available in limited sizes, so it can take some legwork to find the pieces that will fit your baby or child.  It’s totally worth it though, for the rush you’ll get when you snap up the perfect bargain!

Look out for freebies: Haggus & Stookles deserve a special mention for their awesome free downloadable kids activities (ideal for long car trips and rainy days), and we love the LMNOP free downloadable magazine; it’s stylish, informative, and inspiring, and doesn’t cost a cent!

Today’s picks come from a variety of my favourite online stores. This was only a tiny sample of what I could have shown; there’s a heap of gorgeous affordable products out there just waiting for you to discover them: invest a little time, and you will be rewarded with the dollars you save.

Every piece shown below is from a top baby or kids wear designer and is under $25.00.

Introducing Onesies: Your One-stop Shop for the Best Onesies from around the World – 25% off for KidStyleFile readers

Posted: October 21st, 2008

Oh my goodness, I have just seen the cutest thing!! Really, you must head on over and check out Onesies – www.onesies.com.au – regardless of your child’s age.Onesies do what you think they might: sell onesies. Only onesies; the most adorable, stylish and high-quality onesies on the web. Clever, huh?

On their delightful website, Onesies stock simply the most impressive and substantial selection of the onesies, or baby bodysuits, I have ever seen. It is Onesie Heaven! If you’re a mum-t0-be, or the friend or family of such a mum, Onesies is the ideal place to stock up for your impending new addition.

Onesies constitute a wardrobe staple for little babies: they are super-comfy, and the snaps are ultra practical for holding nappies in place, and for easy fuss-free changes. The incredible choices that Onesies afford us, make it easy to inject style and personality into this essential attire.

Choose from onesies both local, and imported, in short and long-sleeved varieties from Bebe by Minihaha, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, Earlybirds, Fig Organic, Gaia Organic, Heavenly Creatures, Infancy, mill&mia, Nanoou, Ouch, Pure Baby Organic, Quilt Baby USA, and Rock Your Baby.

I had so much fun making the picks today, such sweet memories of my own kids when they were little sprouts, and a wealth of ideas for gifts for the next batch of gorgeous bubs coming soon to my neck of the woods.

I just adore Danish brand Nanoou; the fabrics and prints suggest a magical Scandinavian fairyland to me. I can just imagine a little baby girl in the Bebe by Minihaha onesie cool on a hot summer’s day, and a little boy hanging out and scooting about in a fabulous Infancy animal onesie (Infancy is one of my gifting favourites, by the way, I love the cotton elastane composition that gives a fine fit).

Onesies are so well connected and respected that delicious Melbourne label Heavenly Creatures has designed two gorgeous appliqued pieces – ‘Nina Ballerina’ and ‘Gordon Giraffee’ – especially for Onesies. Your little one will look really special in one of these!

Onesies also stock a lovely range of organic cotton and bamboo produce options for babies with sensitive skin and an ecological conscience. One of my fave organic brands is Fig Organic from the US. The fabric is soooo soft, and Fig have a great design aesthetic; I really dig their prints and quirky sewn-in message tags.

I also want to make a special mention of Onesies’  prem baby section, which offers a great range of onesie options for premmie and small babies. As a mum of two sub-2kg babes myself (now strapping 4 year olds!), I can tell you that it’s lovely to have clothes that fit your little baby/babies. You will be well sorted here.

Ok, before we move on to the visual feast, I have to tell you something special and important: to celebrate their opening, Alice at Onesies is offering KidStylefilers a huge 25% off everything in-store!! YAY! All you need to do is enter the code ‘ksf’ at checkout and the discount will be calculated for you.

This offer ends November 10, so make your moves before it’s too late.
